I lost my older brother this year…the guy who introduced me to Sonic…He got to live long enough to raise our nephew on Sonic. So it’s great to talk to my young nephew who understands how much the bond over Sonic means to us. So many people dismiss Sonic as childish but the music in the games does it’s best to inspire.
True, the music from these games got me through my own fair share of rough patches as well. I don’t think many people would be the same without it. I had a similar experience to you, but one of my older brothers died a long time ago (around 5 years ago). I still have his blanket, and I see old pictures of him around my house all the time. Though I don’t remember what his interests were
I’m just gonna say it: To me, this theme IS Sonic. So fun, so fast, so carefree, it’s like you can FEEL the wind in your face just listening to this. And that is why without a doubt, this is, and STILL REMAINS, my favorite vocal track in the entire series.
I feel like all themes are sonic, or about something specific about sonic But I agree with you, this should be sonics actual "true" theme, it fits so well with him and describes him perfectly
@sebastiancastro1291 exactly, like I said almost every main theme represents something in sonic I think, as well as it doesn't matter It doesn't matter is how sonic lives his life, how he won't give up the way he lives no matter what, living by his own rules Open your heart is kind of a comparison in between sonic and chaos, how they're lives are similar but yet so different (at least that's how I hear it) Live and learn is kind of both shadow and sonic, but it's kind of the same as it doesn't matter, Sonic likes to live life on the edge and in danger kind of Sonic heroes main theme is about him and his friendship and friends His world is kind of... just how cool sonic is and how he'll kick your ass no matter what lmao Reach for the stars is how he'll... well reach for the stars no matter what, he'll always try and win even when the odds are impossible and will always reach for his goal no matter how far that is Fist bump is about friendship... but less cool And then endless possibilities kind of combines all of those, plus some extra things, it's just so liberating and free, this is sonic at his peak, this is like the wind, this is the reason why he's called the knight of the wind. Because he just that guy, he doesn't care about anything at all, in his mind being free and liberating is his life style and should be everybody's Sorry for the long comment lmao I kind of just ranted
@@fall2743 nah bro don’t apologize thats fire. I feel the same. This song is my favorite tho cus it’s really upbeat for me but also somewhat melancholy like it’s a little sad. It makes me think of something like moving out of your parents house and going far or something it gives me a homesick feeling or a feeling of nostalgia. But like still moving forward
And that's where Sonic Mania comes in... Edit on 2024: After 7 years and forgetting this comment section exists. I gotta point out that in my opinion, Sonic Unleashed and Sonic 06 has THE best soundtracks. BUT Sonic Mania also has VERY good soundtrack aswell. I wasn't saying it was better than them. I was just saying it's also in the ranks of really good soundtracks. I realized that some people might've gotten the wrong idea of what I said 7 years ago Lmao

Dear god, Sonic music sometimes makes me wanna cry a whole lot. When you get the message it truly tries to emit, it's just powerful. There might be better composed music in videogame music, but they'll never get what this franchise did to me. Sonic has this weird significance as a figure to me in my life, because even if it's just a videogame mascot ; It's the embodiment of someone great, that even throughout the hardest of stuff he'll keep on running. Because it's what he knows best, and he'll do what he loves to do as long as he exists. As a kid I wanted to meet Sonic and be like him, but now I realize that he's actually always been there and I just didn't look far enough. Even if he's not there physically for me, he'll always be an spiritual idol for me and a role model that just teached me to keep going. I just gotta believe in myself.
I had that same Spirit of yours but with both Mario and Sonic. I was a Big Fan of Mario, Sonic and Kirby but more so Mario because I wasn’t introduced to Sonic until when my Cousin Ariel showed me when I visited my Aunts House to take care of me. and I gotta tell you, I was introduced to Sonic by watching my First Piece of Sonic Media, “The Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog” after watching Super Mario Bros. Super Show. And I LOVED Sonic that moment on, I never knew who or what Sonic was until my Cousin introduced me to the Series, ever since that moment I wanted to be like both Mario and Sonic, I had 2 Role Models since then and watched a lot of Sonic and Mario Videos. Being a Kid was the Best…
I feel exactly the same aghhhh!!! I love to see someone that feels like Sonic and it's music is just as inspiring and uplifting as I find it! I can't fully put it in words but just know that I really feel what you said!
This whole game has an air of finality. You can tell they were afraid this was their last game (because it came out after 06) and they were dead set on going out with a bang. That constant drive to make every game their best is what’s missing from modern sonic team. They seem content in their comfortable little good enough bubble. I want more music like this, more graphics that are so good that the system they’re on can barely run them (preferably less laggy than in this game) and just more soul in general.
@@-redde- Maybe it would have been better if Unleashed was their last game. Then we wouldn't have gotten the corny shit like "Baldy McNosehair" that you could kill an entire room with back then. God, we were simple.
We NEED an HD rerelease of this game. One with consistent frame rate. One where the wherehog theme doesn’t play every 5 seconds. One where you where you can control the camera at all times for the wherehog and a drop shadow for him. And maybe a new continent (preferably a South American inspired level).

That’s because they never released a digital version of the song. It’s not even on the original OST album . Pretty sad but I still hoping the band remakes the song for a digital release.
To this day, this song just *IS* Sonic. The sense of *freedom* , the *joy* at life's simple pleasures and the *hope* needed to see every day as just another adventure is palpable. Its both inspirational and moving at the same time. Absolutely perfect representation of what the character is.
I’ve been depressed for so long. Today I decided to return to this for the first time since 2012. This is the most uplifting song I’ve ever heard, I love it so much. It gives me the strength to overcome whatever obstacle is in my way, just like Sonic, my childhood hero. I always wanted to be like him. :)
I’m struggling too and sonic is definitely a hero of mine that I wish I could be like, too. He has all the confidence and wit that I never had. You’re not alone friend
Welcome to the club, ever since quarantine started my grades suffered and a couple weeks ago I was diagnosed with bipolar depression I do advise speaking up with a psychiatrist if you think its severe enough to where therapy wouldn't help and meds may be needed, things can get better I promise This song made me cry If you ever need a friend to talk to, I have Discord
Exactly same situation, my face is full of acne but I’ve been sleeping better and my eye bags are going away, I see it now and now it’s all within our reach brothers
Its sad to see that this was the last big budget sonic game, Most of the games today have very short playtimes (You can beat forces in 3 hours) and little to no CGI cut scenes at all. This was really the last time Sonic Team put everything they had into a game. This is also the last game to really have a darker story with actual good comedy. I think Sonic Team, or whoever approves and writes the stories for games, need to understand that kids can still enjoy a darker story. That was proved with games like Sa2. In my personal opinion Unleased had the best balanced story with it not being super dark and edgy, but not super kid friendly and cheesy. I hope that someday SEGA along with Sonic Team will start putting their all back into the games with higher budgets and better stories. (Also I do leave Generations mostly out for having a cheesy plot or anything along those lines considering generations was made solely to be a celebration game and not an actual long game with a big story. Also Mania considering Mania was not even made by Sonic Team.)
The joke is that even the newer games prove the underlying point. I didn't understand that the characterwriting in lost world sucks, so I just took in the darker aspects(like the onscreen death of an entire planet due to pure cruelty of the villains) and that is why I am a fan today. Anti-serious plots like Colors Wii and Forces only serve to drive potential new fans away and please the cynical douchebags who seriously think Unleashed even having a setup for a story is a reason to rate the game lower.
@Hollow Tim bro its people like you that ruin things for others for like no reason, boost series was good you probably only like the old games and are too close minded to try and understand why the newer games are so loved
I consider unleashed the last fantastic sonic game, mostly everyone was written well eggman being the only exception, tails is still humble and kind, Amy isn’t a crazy fangirl, sonic is good in the game, and I don’t hate chip like some people, hell it’s a good game if you think about it.
8 years ago: die hard Sonic fan, who wouldn’t love this song. Fast forward to now, Senior in high school, the lyrics got my heart racing like it did back then.
This song makes me feel nostalgic. It is one of my favourite Sonic songs and it makes me feel better after a bad day, while making me hopeful for the future.
Even when nothing is going my way in life, I always remember this song. My time to shine will come, because the possibilities really are never-ending. Just hold out hope everyone, everything's going to okay in the end.
I never understood all the hate Unleashed got. Sure the Werehog levels felt like they took a long time, but imo, it was an interesting change of pace. Seriously, until Generations came out, I haven't had so much fun playing a Sonic game since Heroes.
It's pretty much set the foundation for good 3d Sonic games for the next games like Colours, Generations and Lost Hex, then they dumped their already nearly perfected formula for 3d Sonic games and pushed out Sonic Boom and Sonic Forces
I think all the hate comes mainly from the werehog as a concept. Not the levels themselves, just the concept. Cuz i feel like, at the time, the mentality was that Sega was running out of ideas for stories, so when a werewolf version of Sonic dropped, everyone collectivly groaned and didn't even touch the game. I myself love the werehog, but i understand a lot of people do not
This song is truly beautiful. What a range of emotions it pulls out of me - exhilaration, yearning, a touch of melancholy?, but most of all pure optimism and joy. Sonic Unleashed may have its ups and downs but its soundtrack and this title theme in particular are unmatched. Jun Senoue and Jaret Reddick were an unlikely but truly genius pairing. The possibilities are never ending!
I'm listening to this song after just graduating from high school and it has never hit this hard before. I really don't know how my future is gonna pan out from here whether I decided to become a lawyer to help others, a nurse or tech guy since there's a demand there with high pay, or game development as games has been a big part of my life and I have many (tho not fully fleshed out) ideas. I just know the possibilities for my future are endless and I see a sight I never saw as a kid.
Take the first verse to heart, if you don't see your goal on the horizon in where you are, perhaps you need to head out into the world and only consider looking back if you need to. Don't be afraid to do so, and don't ever feel ashamed if you do! Your real friends and family will understand if you're doing what's best and right for yourself.
I also graduated this year and I really have to decide what my life is gonna be! But there is so many options I could choose! My possibilities are endless! And they're never ending!
“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory.” - Dr. Seuss Being 10 years old and getting this game for Christmas in 2008, I enjoyed playing this game so much while growing up. Looking back on it as a 23-year-old adult, this quote resonates with the deep feelings I have for this game. Back then, I simply enjoyed playing Sonic Unleashed as the game it is, but everything about it means so much more to me now. The adventure of putting the planet back together, defeating Dark Gaia, the humorous dialogue between Sonic and Chip, and especially this song will always be great memories of my childhood, but the message of this song is the most significant. As we grow up, there are endless possibilities of what we can accomplish, and this game reminds us of that. Being that young kid at the time, I didn’t think anything of it, but I certainly do now. Growing up with games like this in the late 2000s is something I’ll always be grateful for.
Which version of the game did you play? Also thank god someone else remembers the release of this game so vividly, I remember it being fucking freezing as we were out for lunch in London, I can't remember what we ate but I was obsessed with the hype this game had, the trailers hyped me up for the game big time and I remember scouring what felt like the whole of London for a copy of the game with my dad and little brother, and when we found it, I looked for the PS3 version and I saw it and my dad was like, is this it and when I nodded emphatically he was as relieved as I was. I hold a nostalgic bias for both this game and Sonic 06 as they were the first Sonic games I ever played, then I played it and I felt like I was actually Sonic, it was amazing, the night levels were hard and I had to get my dad's help on them even though he wasn't a big fan of them, and by god Perfect Dark Gaia was a bitch to complete, I got the game December 2008, I finished it for the first time June 2010 as I sucked at it, we all had a go at the QTE where you pressed the square button 60 times, I was so goddamn happy when I finally finished it, then the next game I played afterwards was Sonic Rush Adventure for the DS, which is a great game but anyway, this is my favourite game in Sonic history and it always will be.
I played the PS2 version of the game. After reading about the differences between the versions, it seems that the PS2 was quite limited in terms of gameplay when compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360. There are certain levels/battles in these versions that are not in the PS2, so I’d say you played the better version of the game than me. The final battle with Perfect Dark Gaia is much different between the PS2 and PS3 such that Super Sonic just hovers horizontally and attacks Dark Gaia’s eyeballs one at a time in the PS2 while Super Sonic has to disable Dark Gaia’s spherical shield before attacking in the PS3. At the time, the PS2 was starting to become a dying console since the PS3 was the latest console to be released, so I’d say the PS3 version was the better version to play. Also, I remember watching one of the commercials for the game where that kid was playing it on his couch before turning into a werewolf and chasing his cat lol. Unfortunately for me, Sonic Unleashed was one of the very few Sonic games I played while growing up, but it is undoubtedly one of my all-time favorites for sure. It’s awesome that this game helped us make this international connection. Sending good vibes to you in the UK! 🇺🇸🤝🇬🇧
@@brock_decoy70 Sending them to you too across the pond my friend, Sonic was the one series that I actually lived off of in terms of what I played when I was a kid, I would play any Sonic game I could and I made damn sure of that, definitely prefer 3D Sonic to 2D Sonic but I was the typical late 2000s era Sonic fan, I saw the older 2D games as overrated and even some of the older 3D ones I didn't play until only what 10 years ago so I have played almost every main line game, there some I haven't played and some I actively dislike but anyway, Sonic is a series that I will always have very fond memories of, particularly the multiplayer modes of some games being the only thing I'd play in summer, it was great fun. I did eventually play the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed but I didn't enjoy it, the day levels were way too short, seriously Windmill Isle day on PS3 is around 2:30 on a normal run and Jungle Joyride day on Wii, the S rank time was 2:15 if I remember right, the night levels were better but the combos were limited I felt and some levels got annoying after a while. Also, how come you weren't able to play many Sonic games as a kid if you don't mind me asking?
@@andrewstokes6623 It was most likely due to me playing many other great games during my childhood that didn’t involve Sonic or Sega in general. I was so preoccupied with other games/series that I never gave Sonic a chance until later on. With that being said, I definitely should’ve given the Sonic games a chance much earlier. I consider myself a dedicated Nintendo fan because I played so many Mario games as a child, and the popularity of those games may have cast a shadow on the Sonic games for me. In addition, I was exposed to Mario at a very young age and didn’t know about Sonic until I was older. Nevertheless, I know that the Sonic series is great and special in its own way, and I would never hesitate to play any of the other games now. Playing video games was a cornerstone of my upbringing, but I sadly chose to let it go shortly after I started high school and began to have more responsibilities in my life. As a result, I’ve been somewhat out of touch with gaming over the past decade, but I would love to get back into it again if possible.
@@brock_decoy70 It is possible to get back into it, I was out of touch as shit a few years ago, I wouldn't play any new games, but here I am, trying to get as much shit on Crash Bandicoot 4 as I can without pulling my hair out, which is fun and it reminds me of fun I had as a kid, if I can, I'm pretty certain you could as well, I'm also certain that any family members who still play games can help ease you back into it if you need help, my brother insisted I begin gaming again back in 2019 with him, so anyone in your family or friends who game should be able to ease you back into it, now it was the reverse for me actually I was on Sonic way before I learned who Mario was, so I have always preferred Sonic and always will, even if some Mario games I really like.

Unfortunately everyone tore it down back then all because of the werehog and that made Sega too scared to try anything new fearing they'll get even more backlash
As controversial and pulverizing as the Werehog is, I feel that every aspect of this game felt like Sonic Team and Sega were really trying to make a good game to make fans happier again, and like I said, every aspect proves it in my opinion, the story, the voice acting, the production value, the modeling work, the gameplay, and especially the music, I know this game is disliked by about half of the fandom, but Sonic Unleashed will always hold a special place in my heart, and always be one of my favorites
Make your words my words. I honestly love this game, including the Werehog, which when I played it, I thought was really fun gameplay. I'm glad to see that there are more people besides me who like him!
Just imagine if the Werehog could get a second chance, likely with some changes to gameplay and physics to help re-establish the "Sonic" aspects to him. Spider Man works amazingly in an open-world setting as we've seen time and time again. Add some speed back to the Werehog and the possibilities might truly be never-ending.

Nah. I'd argue its the most OVERRATED Sonic game ever. Like Jesus Christ its the new "Sonic Adventure 2" in terms of how bad its fan following has gotten. @@supermariof0521 I find that hard to believe as from what I’ve seen people find Unleashed the worst out of the modern games, or atleast use to like *some* people really use to say Sonic 06 is better than Unleashed ffs. I won’t definitely say that it’s better than the newer modern games but It was the last good innovative Sonic game we had. All the objectively “ Good Sonic Games “ we’ve had are Colors, Generations, and Mania and 2/3 of those titles are heavily pandered to nostolgia and Color’s story writting just didn’t try as with all newer Sonic games(I like Roger’s voice as Sonic and he is what I hear when I think somic but the direction and his inability to not sound unhappy just weakened some plot points). With Unleashed, the day time stages speak for themselves and the Werehog was actually polished and was solid , it’s just Sonic’s not the first thing I go to play for a beat em up brawler. Sonic Unleashed only now seems to be getting good recognition.
this song gives me nostalgia for a time i wasn't even old enough to remember. i was born in 2008, but somehow this song perfectly encapsulates the late 2000s for me despite me not being full consious during that time period
I always annoyed my brother with this song for no reason. I came back to this song one day and then noticed my brother was going to be graduating soon. So I took his phone and set this as his ringtone. Then after the graduation and when we all got home, I called his phone to hear this song on blast to basically give him a motivational message as a saying of "Time to start the next chapter of your life with endless possibilities!" He didn't like it.
You know the song is an absolute 10/10 timeless banger when you can play it over any stage in Generations and it'll work with each and every single one of them. No matter if you did modern Green Hill or Sky Sanctuary or Crisis City this music does not feel out of place in any of those stages and where it shines the most is definitely Rooftop Run. To this day i remember how i played Generations on my 360 and in modern rooftop run I was grinding down the clock tower having the entire town below me and 0:56 this moment started playing in the background as i was grinding down which fit the situation on the screen so perfectly it was basically artistic.

I feel like all themes are sonic, or about something specific about sonic
But I agree with you, this should be sonics actual "true" theme, it fits so well with him and describes him perfectly
@@fall2743 It’s a perfect song bro it’s THE song for sonic it’s just so liberating bro
@sebastiancastro1291 exactly, like I said almost every main theme represents something in sonic I think, as well as it doesn't matter
It doesn't matter is how sonic lives his life, how he won't give up the way he lives no matter what, living by his own rules
Open your heart is kind of a comparison in between sonic and chaos, how they're lives are similar but yet so different (at least that's how I hear it)
Live and learn is kind of both shadow and sonic, but it's kind of the same as it doesn't matter, Sonic likes to live life on the edge and in danger kind of
Sonic heroes main theme is about him and his friendship and friends
His world is kind of... just how cool sonic is and how he'll kick your ass no matter what lmao
Reach for the stars is how he'll... well reach for the stars no matter what, he'll always try and win even when the odds are impossible and will always reach for his goal no matter how far that is
Fist bump is about friendship... but less cool
And then endless possibilities kind of combines all of those, plus some extra things, it's just so liberating and free, this is sonic at his peak, this is like the wind, this is the reason why he's called the knight of the wind. Because he just that guy, he doesn't care about anything at all, in his mind being free and liberating is his life style and should be everybody's
Sorry for the long comment lmao I kind of just ranted

WHAT
Dear god, Sonic music sometimes makes me wanna cry a whole lot.
I just gotta believe in myself.
ok

Remember though Unleashed got tons of hate, so pouring everything into another game became less and less appealing for them

IGN ("a very trustable source") gave this game a 4.5 at the time of release. It was worse than sonic 06 rating

Im glad for you bro
Congrats
Same boat as you man
Take the first verse to heart, if you don't see your goal on the horizon in where you are, perhaps you need to head out into the world and only consider looking back if you need to.
This is what freedom sounds like. Beautiful
“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory.” - Dr. Seuss
Being 10 years old and getting this game for Christmas in 2008, I enjoyed playing this game so much while growing up.

Endless Possibility by Jaret Reddick of Bowling For Soup
Lyrics:
(Instrumental Intro)
This is my escape
I'm running through this world and I'm not looking back
Cause I know I can go
Where no one's ever gone and I'm not looking back
But how will I know when I get there?
And how will I know when to leave?
We've all gotta start from somewhere
And it's right there for me
The possibilities are never ending!
I see it, I see it, and now it's all within my reach (Endless Possibility)
I see it, I see it now, it's always been inside of me (And now I feel so free!)
Endless Possibility!
And so I'll carry on
My time to shine has come, I feel it (I feel it, i feel it)
As fast as I can go
Straight to the top I know, you'll see it (You'll see it, you'll see it)
So please wake me up when I get there
It feels like I'm lost in a dream
I know in my heart that it's my time
And I already see!
The possibilities are never ending!
I see it, I see it, and now it's all within my reach (Endless Possibility)
I see it, I see it now, it's always been inside of me (And now I feel so free)
Endless Possibility!
Drop that smile 'cause you're beaten again
Now this is where my journey begins
You're losing your speed, you're losing your flow
But inside me's a power you'll never know
Then let it out, it's inside you
Better all stand back 'cause I'm coming THROUGH!
(Instrumental break)
I see it, I see it, and now it's all within my reach
I see it, I see it now, it's always been inside of me
I see it, I see it, and now it's all within my reach (Endless Possibility)

Maybe that's why this feels Nostalgic (I've never played Sonic unleashed)
@@Caprock64DrawsSame here! I’m a big Sonic fan, but I’m a *huge* Phineas & Ferb fan!
Also Jimmy Neutron's theme!
@@catinthebox5725 What???
@@Superemie401 Ok double double-checked, it wasn't the same guy who sang it but the same band, Bowling for Soup.
