You are truly a craft princess. I’m 76 and had a porcelain/ceramic business for many years. Now that I’m older and not as strong as I used to be. This method will cure my creative side. Thanks so much
Iv been using bright colored eye shadows and brushing it on my porcelain while wet,,, it make a great looking marble technique 😊🥰 thank you for your wonderful video!!
If you lightly glaze some baby oil over the inside of your measuring cup for the glue with your finger or a piece of cloth, before you put the glue in to measure it, it slides out without sticking to the side of the cup. No need for a spoon to get it all out. 🙂 Nice video.
Girl, you are so down to earth and enjoyable to watch....and I love that you don't play music, as that can be distracting. You just got a new subbie, and I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos. God bless!!
Oh thank you so much!!! I truly appreciate you! Your kind words made my day 💗 I hope you find more on my channel that you like. I have some new things coming in the near future that might interest you. I look forward to hearing from you again 😊💗🤗 Hugs....Janie
To make them waterproof and even harder got to varnish 😊 that little butterfly is so cute ❤ I want to make useful items like trinket trays I love those never have lost any jewelry as long as I use one
Thank you so much 😊 I have never had to use varnish, but that is good advice, thank you. I guess I have never worrired about them being waterproof and never tested to see. I make mine for craft projects and jewelry, so they never get soaked in water, and I have been able to wipe them with a wet cloth with no problem. But I will definitely keep your suggestion in mind should I ever make something that might get soaked in water. As for hardness, I can't imagine thing any harder than what they are, but again, it never hurts for extra protection. Thanks for your comment 💗 Hugs....Janie
If you're sensitive to smells, you can use mineral oil. It's exactly the same as baby oil, but fragrance free and way cheaper. It's usually found in the laxative aisle.
Yes you can use a variety of oils. I like baby oil because of the soft smell that is gentle enough for babies, and also because it's easily found at the Dollar Tree or probably even Walmart for about a dollar. So for me it works. But yes you can use mineral oil or avocado oil or olive oil....which ever you prefer 😊 Hugs....Janie
Janie, my heart skipped a beat when I saw your video and the beautiful items you made with the porcelain and molds. I couldn't stop thinking about all the beautiful things I can try to make. I also found it to be very relaxing and that's what I need in my life right now. I have so many ideas bursting out of my heart, I am looking forward to trying this out ASAP. I am definitely going to start shopping for those molds. I really would love the mold you are offering but I do hope the right person wins your give away. Thank you for showing us the steps and different ways to make the porcelain. Stay safe. Be bless.
I'm so happy you like this and I know you will enjoy it. There are so many possibilities. As for the giveaway, this video is old and the giveaway has long been over. But you can find molds on ebay and Amazon and probably many places. You can also use cookie cutters or just freehand mold things. Have fun :) Hugs....Janie
@@janiethecraftprincess Thank you so much Janie, for responding so quickly. I did realized when I replayed the vid that the give away has passed. None the less, I am excited about this technic and hope to try some free-hand. I will definitely keep you posted. Thanks again for encouraging us with all your wonderful creations. 🌸🌺🌼🌻🦋
Thank you so much for stopping by 😊 I'm happy you like this. But.....if you raised your hand for the giveaway, I'm sorry to say that closed years ago. But I do hope you give this a try and have fun 😊 Hugs...Janie

Will be trying this new recipe very soon, and thank you for being so thorough! I made my first batch from another recipe recently and poured many hours into several projects only for all of them (and my heart, haha) to crack into pieces while drying. I've tried several different things to remedy this problem but am fairly sure now it was just a poor recipe I fell upon. Very discouraging but seeing your results has me excited to try again! Thanks!!
Thank you for watching. I'm not sure what recipes you have used before or why they didn't work. I have never had anything I've made with this recipe crack, let alone crack into pieces. I can imagine how frustrating that must be. Mine come out beautiful and solid and strong. My advice is to watch my video closely and follow every step, and use any tips I offer as I go along. Question.....are you allowing the things you make to air dry, or are you trying to speed things up by using an oven? This needs to air dry and is not for ovens. I hope you have good luck with this and I would love to hear your results :) Hugs....Janie
I've worked with polymer clay and lately have been watching some great creations made with either porcelain clay or porcelain clay. I'm fascinated and the fact that you can make it yourself adds to my interest. So, I'll definitely be trying this. My creative energies are calling me this time of year. Only problem is that it's already so late. I'll be trying this out for sure. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for stopping by. I'm happy you like this and that it is helpful. I don't know what you mean by it's already so late. This is quick and easy to make and is usually dry within 24 hours depending the thickness of what you make. I think you will like this. Enjoy :) Hugs....Janie
@@janiethecraftprincess so good to hear from you! By it's already so late I mean we have a very short time until Christmas and I may not get something done in time with all that I'm trying to get done. I do want to say that I like the effect of the porcelyn clay plus I love china and pretty things. I'm going to see what I'd really like to make. Always looking for suggestions. Am thinking of a wall switch cover with a horse or dog as accent and a scoopy kind of border.
You are so welcome! I'm so glad you found me! I appreciate your sweet comment. I also have a video on making cold porcelain using the cooking method (a little messier but great stuff). Have fun making it.....I love this stuff and there are so many things you can make with it 😊 Hugs....Janie
I wouldn’t ever use olive oil because it can and will go rancid and spoil. If you want to condition your cutting board for example I would suggest mineral oil, to do that as well. I’m not sure about using mineral oil, in your porcelain dough however, as I’ve never tried it. Great video and I appreciate you taking the time to show us how you make it. Have a great Thanksgiving honey! BTW, Crafters will always have a bit of mess somewhere until it’s clean up time, and that’s being honest.
I have never used olive oil for this even though there are many people that have used olive oil and vegetable oil. The lemon juice acts as a preservative. I prefer baby oil. I have watched videos where people have all kinds of oils and even lotion. But like I said, I prefer baby oil. I'm happy you like my video.....thank you so much. And yes, us crafters tend be surrounded by messes until we are done with out projects 😊 Thanks for stopping by. You have a wonderful Thanksgiving as well 💗 Hugs....Janie
Sorry but I have no idea if that will work.....but you should try it and see what happens 😊 Thank you so much for your sweet comment.....I truly appreciate it. Thanks for stopping by 💗 Hugs....Janie
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you like it. Cold porcelain has a different finish than clay....or at least any clay I have used.....and is pretty strong. I would love hear what you think when you try it :) Hugs...Janie
I'm guessing it's been a while since you have done this. Did you use the cooked recipe or this no-cook recipe? I have used the cooked recipe and made a video a few years ago, but after someone asking me about the no-cook version I decided to check it out and give it a try. At this point I don't see a difference even though I would think the cooking would make it stronger......but it seems just as strong. Have fun :) Hugs...Janie
Hi Dawn.....I think you will like this. It's easy only 4 every day ingredients. The only problem is waiting for it to dry.....LOL. But it's really light weight and strong and there is so much you can do with it :) Hugs...Janie
Bigger than what? I have no idea what size you are wanting to make. But if you are wanting to know if you can make something bigger than jewelry yes. However the thickness may affect things. The thicker it is, the longer it will take to dry. I have had a whole roll dry when I had forgot about it, so that was at least an inch thick.. If you are wanting to make something long, sure that will work. But seriously, this is so inexpensive, why don't you just make a batch and give it a try? That's how I learn.....by trying things and seeing how it works out 😊
I think you would enjoy this. And thank you for the birthday wishes......my birthday was a couple months ago and the giveaway is closed and winner has been notified. Thank you so much for stopping by :) Hugs....Janie
Just curious. You mentioned that you use baby oil because you like the smell. Once you stir everything together, can you still smell it or the lemon juice?
I hope you are successful 😊 I know some people have different results depending on how dry or humid their weather is. Not sure what your "epic fail" was, but wishing you epic success 😊💗🤗 Hugs....Janie

Thanks for sharing that tip. I'm sure many that read it will appreciate it. I don't think about that because were I live it's dry.....dry heat, dry cold, dry snow.....LOL But many people live where it's humid. Thank you for you sweet comment too😊 Hugs....Janie
@@janiethecraftprincess life being what it is I mixed it this afternoon, but I made it and the humidity in the air was siting around 80% so I wound up needing an extra half cup of cornstarch. I'm going to try and make a drop spindle and whorl and possibly a few naalbinding needles
@@michellecorbett3323 I can't even imagine 80% humidity!!! Ok I can imagine.....traveled to a couple places that were pretty humid and I hated it. Currently, according to our little weather station, indoors it's 21% and outdoors it's 5%.....and according to Google it's 14%.......and it's 88 degrees (F). Like I said, dry heat, dry cold, dry snow. I can definitely understand your humidity effecting the recipe. I'm sure that is the problem others are having when they tell me it's "soupy". I will have to keep that in mind next time I have to reply to someone having that problem. Thanks for letting me know. Good luck with your projects. Let me know how they turn out. You may have to let what you make sit longer to cure.
You really don't have to let it dry in the mold I certainly don't I let the air dry my molds. So don't get broken hearted. Your Jewelry is so beautiful. 💖🌹
Yes I know.....I just prefer to let them dry in the molds. But maybe some day I'll try it the other way. I know it's easier to take it out of the mold right away if you are going to add it to something else right away or need to shape it around something. Thanks for sharing that though and thank you for your sweet comment 💗 Hugs....Janie
thank you for the video! Of all the recipes I've seen on youtube this one looks the most promising and I am really excited to try it out. One question, does it shrink at all when it dries? Thank you!!
Thank you....I'm happy this was helpful. To answer your question, no it does not really shrink. In fact of you watch the video you can see before I take it out of the molds that it has barely shrunk away from the edges. I'm guessing you didn't watch the entire video and stopped after I show how to make it, so please watch to the end and you will learn more and see the answer to your question :) Hugs.....Janie
@@janiethecraftprincess Thank you so much for the answer! It did indeed looked like it didn't shrink, but I still wanted to be 100% sure since the other recipes I've seen people say it does shrink. hugs!
@@KnoviceCosplay I'm glad you watched because I want people to see with their own eye instead of me just saying it. I think you will have fun with this cold porcelain. I have used it in molds and with cookie cutters and freehand. Be sure to give it plenty of time to dry.....the thicker the object the longer it will take. And let it air dry....do not try to speed it up with heat. Be sure the "dough" is soft and stretchy.....it's not like other "clays" that have a firm texture. I just wanted to point that out because of a recent question I got. Have fun :) Hugs....Janie
Can you pop them out of the molds prior to completely drying, like you can with store bought clay? I'm wanting to shape a mold around objects I'm working with.
Yes, you can definitely remove it from the molds before it is dry. Usually you can remove it from the molds immediately, depending on the mold. I have seen many people do what you are wanting to do. Have fun 😊
I have been using cold porcelain to create life-like flowers for sale many years. Recently, I started making items in molds to diversify my wares. I wanted to have the items still wet to glue them on applications that were not always flat, so need the molded clay to be able to curve. Well, I took a hint from the chocolate making community...I put the mold in the freezer and when frozen it pops right out easily and still in the proper shape allowing me to reuse the mold with an hour instead of having to wait overnight or longer for it to dry. I haven't tried that method with this clay yet, but as it does not shrink or at least doesn't to the extent that the cooked version does, I haven't proven that it would work in this application, but I believe it would work here just as well. I will try making my lifelike flowers with this version also, if it works, it would save time, electricity from using the microwave, multiple steps,...if it does work. Thank you for sharing this video. Just seeing it for the first time on January 5, 2021. Blessings!
Sounds like you use it a lot more than I do......I would love to see what you make. I have another video on the cooked (microwave) method but find this no cook method less messy. I hope it works for you the way you want it to. I have only let it air dry and never thought about freezing it and am not sure how that will work. I freeze soap when I make it instead of letting it set over night.....quicker and easy to release from the molds. Let me know how that works with the cold porcelain when you try it. Thanks for stopping by. Happy New Year :) Hugs....Janie
@@janiethecraftprincess I have some items on my Facebook page, Chrissie's Creations, Forever Flowers-Plus. facebook.com/Chrissies-Creations-Forever-Flowers-Plus-157057084443071 . Blessings to you.
OK, I made the clay as you instructed. It was like soup in my bowl. I added more cornstarch. I had to add a lot more cornstarch. I am testing out the molding method, but thus far, I prefer the cooked version by far. This would not work, for creating the life-like flowers, unfortunately. I may try it out on other applications, but not the flowers. Thanks for your efforts. Blessings!
@@christiedecker2724 I'm sorry you had this experience, but with this no cook method there is no way you followed the directions and had it look like soup.....it is physically impossible with there being more cornstarch (or even equal cornstarch) than the liquid ingredients, especially with thick liquid ingredients like glue. I didn't just give you a recipe, I recorded it so you can watch and see what to expect, and as you saw it was VERY THICK and not liquid at all. At 11:55 minutes into the video, right after I first mixed it, you can see the spoon standing up by itself in the mixture while I'm putting on my gloves. I'm not sure where you went wrong......what part of the ingredients that you misread.....but you might want to try it again. The consistency and texture is identical to the cooked version and does make beautiful flowers. I hope you try it again and double check my ingredients and watch the video again. I really think you will like this, but if not, just stick with the cooked version :) Hugs....Janie
@@christiedecker2724 I was just reading someone's comment and they mentioned CORN FLOUR and not CORN STARCH......got me thinking, are you using corn FLOUR or corn STARCH? There is a difference and that could be the problem if you have the two confused. Just thought I should check just in case.
hi! thanks for the video.. one question..once its made how do i store the clay? should i keep the container out at room temperature or do i need to keep it in the fridge?
Keep at room temperature. Keep it sealed tightly in plastic wrap and in a sealed container (as I showed). If stored properly it will be usable for several weeks. Have fun 😊
Hello, I really enjoyed your video. I have been using cold porcelain for about a year, but I just recently started putting it in molds. I was wondering if you have trouble with it bowing. Mine isn’t drying flat. It’s rounded when it’s dried. If so, could you give me any tips on how to get it to dry flat. Thank you so much.
Hi 😊 Yes I do have a problem with it bowing......well not all of them, only the thinner ones. However, I haven't tried this yet, but I have seen people pop them out of the molds right after they mold it, and then apply it to whatever they are making with it. I don't know if you take it out and lay it flat if that will prevent the bowing. But.....I have tried with deeper intricate molds (like roses) and it doesn't come out good until it's completely dry. I do love that the butterflies curve though, it adds realistic dimension. But I do not have any bowing issues with most molds, just the thin ones. I don't know if this information helps, but I hope so. Thank you for stopping by 😊 Hugs....Janie
Thank you so much! I have two answers for you.....the first answer is NO, they are not the same thing and will not work the same way. Second answer.....try it and find out. I have never tried it and don't plan on it but I always suggest that when people want to know about alternatives that they should try it themselves to find out. Have fun :) Hugs....Janie
As far as I know the answer is no. Flour and corn starch are two different things.....so just like when baking you wouldn't replace one with the other. But feel free to try it if you would like, however just be prepared that it won't be the same.
I don't varnish them so I can't answer your question. I can't imagine why you would have to varnish them but if you want to that is your choice, but I don't know know anything about that. Sorry :) Hugs....Janie
Thank you for stopping by. All of that information is in my video....what I used and how I used it. Please watch so you don't miss any of the important information. I have discovered if I answer questions in a reply, the person often misses something else. It air dries and dries hard not rubbery. Since it is very inexpensive to make, you should make a batch and see for yourself. Good luck and have fun 😊 Hugs....Janie
Thanks for the great tutorial! I suppose sealing it with a resin or other waterproof sealer will protect it from water. I saw on TV years ago on the Aileen's craft show how to make cold porcelain with a slice of bread, Aileen's tacky glue and craft paint. Made some small roses and they turned out great! But this is better for making larger batches. Looking forward to trying it!
Thanks for stopping by. I have never sealed and not sure it needs sealing. It's pretty solid with a smooth finish. But it's totally up to you. I can't imagine bread and tacky glue creating cold porcelain, but I'm sure it makes some sort of modeling substance....very interesting. Have fun :) Hugs....Janie
Well that is a very good question. I have never heard of anyone doing that or seen anyone do that, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. It might be messier than doing it by hand. Next time I make some I'm going to try mixing it all in a ziplock bag so I can knead it without getting it all over my hands.....might be a little less messy. Then you can just turn the bag inside out to remove the dough. But if you try using a mixer, please let me know if works 😊 Hugs....Janie
@@janiethecraftprincess we are in process of packing everything up to move. But I got an old mixer I use to mix soap, paints and body creams. I have dough hooks for it and never used them for anything. I am gonna go for it if I ever get my craft room back.
Don't know.....don't have it....haven't tried it. Let me know if it works 😊 I have never used the clear Elmer's glue for anything so I don't know if it has a different consistency, but I would think it's a different formula, so it may not work. But if you already have that glue, you should try it since it doesn't cost much to make this. When I get asked questions like this always suggest trying it. Good luck. Thanks for stopping by 😊
Cold porcelain is solid and smooth, not porus like some "clays". I have never had any fall apart over time, and have some that are several years old. In fact some that I showed in this video were at least 3 years old and this video is 2 years old, so over 5 years or longer nothing has fallen apart. I honestly don't see how this can fall apart. It's inexpensive so just give it a try. I also have a video on making a version that you cook. I think you will love this cold porcelain 😊
I'm sure you watched so you already know the recipe calls for white glue, which is what I used. As for your other question, I have no idea. I don't know what flexable porcelain paste is. My suggestion would be to try it and see what happens. Have fun and good luck 😊
I would imagine it would need some sort of adhesive to adhere to papier mache or anything else. I have only used it to make embellishments and jewelry (as you saw in the video) so it's already hard at that point. I guess you could always give it a try.....it's not like it's expensive to make. And as for your question about "can it be sanded".....anything can be sanded, but why would you want to? It has such a beautiful finish. I have never sanded it because I like the smoothe finish, but like I said, you can alway give it a try. You could always make a half batch to experiment with.....it costs pratically nothing to make. Have fun 😊
@@janiethecraftprincess Many thanks. What I am intending it for is the final layer of clay on two very big floor standing flat faced, decorative vases. And because the area needs to be flat and totally smooth I can't do a level, wrinkle free, line free, stroke free area. The final product will be high gloss which would show any irregularities.
@@chrissiemac8500 I'm not sure what you are planning to use to mold the cold porcelain, but it dries beautifully smooth like silk. If the mold has texture obviously the finished result will have texture. If you are freehanding it I'm sure you can keep it smoothe. I highly suggest experimenting with it before doing such a special project. Good luck.
@@janiethecraftprincess I was thinking of just... smearing it on? Like I do with the papier mache clay. It to cover a broad flat area and unless I some how can adhere it and then use something like a rolling pin to flatten it out/smooth it out, I don't know any other way. I've never used it before but the "Porcelain" part of it would suit the finished look I am trying to achieve with the vase. The papier mache does not smooth out enough and the more I try to smooth it the more the fine paper bits come to the surface. I was hoping that I didn't have to sand the entire thing. One vase stands at 1.2 metres tall.
This recipe is the best! I must give the shout out. Today I thought I would make a different recipe thinking it would be larger. It was the same as this recipe except that it called for one cup of cornstarch and 3/4 of a cup of glue. It was a sticky mess and I wrestled with it for nearly an hour. I will never deviate from this recipe. Unless she comes up with one that's better ☺️
Rita you have completely made my day....THANK YOU!!! You do know you can double the recipe.....I just like to make smaller batches because I don't it want it to dry up before I use it all (I don't make a lot of things at one time). But I'm so happy you like the recipe. Have fun with it and have a blessed day :) BIG HUGS.....Janie
I have no idea. It would probably not turn out the same. You can pick up corn starch at the Dollar Tree if you're looking for cheap. But flour and corn starch are different and will most likely create a different dough. You can always try it 😊
Mold? Like does it get moldy? No....not at all.....not ever. The lemon juice or vinegar is probably what prevents that....but really I've never known any clay or modeling substance to get moldy. And honestly, there is nothing in this to mold. But you know.....it's a good question I guess. I hope I have helped.
I have been using this for about 5 years and nothing has ever molded. The lemon juice is to prevent the growth of bacteria or fungi (got that from Wikipedia). This also has a silky smooth hard surface, unlike other modeling substances/clays. I still have some pieces that are from when I first started using this and they are still as beautiful as when I first made them. In fact, some of the pieces I showed in this video, like the necklace, are about 5 years old. I hope this helps. I also have a video with a recipe that requires cooking (in the microwave). So you have options. Thanks for stopping by 😊 Hugs....Janie
I have no idea.....have never tried it. But then of course you would have the mess on your kneading hook....LOL But like I tell everyone that asks questions I don't have an answer to.....give it a try and find out. Good luck :) Hugs....Janie
I wish I had a difinitive answer, but I have only used Elmer's glue. There are so many variables with Mod Podge......for example which formula do you plan on using (there are probably a dozen different Mod Podges). I am a big Mod Podge fan and pretty much own them all. I don't think any of them have the same consistency as Elmer's glue. Also Mod Podge is mostly a sealer and finish, even though it does have some adhesive properties, but probably not the same as glue. Being as this is an inexpensive formula, you might just try making a half batch and see how it works. I do know that other people have tried substituting an ingredient and the cosistency turns out wrong. But I'm a firm believer in trying things to see what happens. Good luck 😊
I wish you would have actually watched my video because your question was answered a few times in the beginning of my video. I hope you take the time to watch the entire video so you don't miss any other important information. Thank you for stopping by.
@@stefreynolds9829 You weren't "troubling" me, and I'm sorry you took it as costic. When it comes to this video and another one that I have, people seem to skim through and miss important information, and then they get frustrated with the results, so I always suggest that people watch the entire video and not skip through it so they don't miss something important. At 2:01 I said I painted the tear drop that the I put the flower on. At 3:49, I showed two other items....flowers and butterfly.....and said I painted them. I wasn't bothered by your original question/comment, and was just looking out for you by making sure you didn't miss anything. But your reply to my comment, does bother me. It seems a little sarcastic and judgemental. There is something that no one seems to think about. I put a lot of time and money into making tutorials that I offer to my viewers for free, and it's a little disappointing to discover that instead of watching the entire video to get the answer to their questions, they would rather take more of my time to reply. And I do reply to everyone that comments....I find that important and shows that I do appreciate my viewers. I know from personal experience that there are many TH-cam creators that don't do that. But it seems not all viewers appreciate the time and money I put into these without asking for anything in return. Some TH-cam creators ask their viewers to "buy a cup of coffee" for them (donate money), or join their channel (a monthly fee) or join their Patreon group (a monthly fee), and I choose to not do any of those things. I have been making videos for 10 years and have never asked for anything.....not money, not gifts, not cards, nothing. I have giveaways once in a while, in fact I just had one, where I give back to my viewers to show my appreciation for their loyalty. You have no idea who I am because you are not a regular viewer of my channel, so before you judge me, get to know me first.
I'm not sure I understand your comment. Preserve......do you want to know how to preserve it? The vinegar or lemon juice perserves it.....and keep the unused cold poreclain wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and stored in an air-tight container. Which types material glossy? I'm totally lost with that. This cold porcelain has a smooth, non-porous finish. If you want a glossy finish I would use a sealer on the finished project.....something like Mod Podge Glossy (brush on or spray), or a Krylon spray. I really don't know if I answered your question since I really didn't understand your comment, but I hope I helped 😊
I'm sure I showed in the video how light weight it is....but if I didn't show in this video I must have shown in my other cold procelaine video. So it is very light weight and sturdy. Larger things will take longer to dry all the way through so give it plenty of time. Depending on how large you might even want to give it days. I have never done anything that large, but did leave a batch unused way to long and it did become solid....LOL. Have fun :) Hugs....Janie
I am a Tole painter and so I am new to polymer clay. I am hoping to make and use embelishments for the bottles I paint and decoupage. I really appreciated how you took the time to go through every step of your tutorial. I tried it, but need some advice. I don't know if the weather has an effect on how it comes out, but when I mixed everything together, I had a consistency of thick runny melted cheese! The only thing I used that was different was Canola oil. I live in the high desert in California so the weather is really nice. It's 51° and the humidity is 47%. I had to add about 3 more tsp of cornstarch to get it like yours and it still doesn't look right. Seems a bit dry. . .tiny little bumps. . Tried the oil on my hands and teardrop seems the same. Not really sure if it will work. Suggestions will be appreciated! Thank you for the GREAT teaching! HAPPY CRAFTING🤗 Jeannie . .sorry this is sooo long.🙄
Hi.....thanks for stopping by. I'm not sure if Canola oil makes a difference but it might. I don't think the weather would make a difference unless you're making it outside.....it's more what the "weather" is like in your house. But I still don't know if that would really matter. I live in Montana where it is cooler temps than CA (I used to live in the Inland Empire about 25 years ago).....and it's usually on the dry side here (we have what is called dry snow....like styrofoam LOL). Are you using corn STARCH or corn FLOUR? The reason I ask is that I have discovered some people are getting the two confused and should be using corn starch. Also, as I went along you see that I did add more corn starch. Since you mention "tiny little bumps", I'm wondering if you are not getting it mixed thoroughly which would mean the corn starch is not getting distributed completely. I'm also confused when you first mention it being the consistency of thick runny melted cheese, and then later mention it being a bit dry. And then you mention that the tear drop seems the same, but then you are not sure if it will work. So there are some contradictory things which is confusing me so I'm not sure how to help exactly. But since you have already made it, have you tried using it? And if so, how were the results? I think if you have made it you should try it and see what happens. So the best advice I have is to add the additional corn starch or oil a little at a time and be sure it is thoroughly mixed before adding more. And knead it well, not just a little but for several minutes. And you might try a different oil. I have never had it be the consistency of runny cheese, and someone else recently complained it was the consistency of soup, which I have also never seen and don't even understand how it's even possible with the ration of dry ingredients to wet ingredients. The glue by itself is thicker than soup and more like the runny melted cheese, so adding the corn starch (which is a thickner, like you would use to thicken what you're cooking) should thicken it up. The reason I made the video was so my viewers could SEE it actually being made and how it turned out, so you can see what my results are. Please let me know what your results are. Oh and you apologized for your long question......and I'll apologize for my looooong answer....hee hee hee :) Hugs.....Janie
@@janiethecraftprincess Thank you for your fast reply. Sorry I confused you!🤔 The "MELTED CHEESE" part was when I first mixed everything together. It was soooo runny and sticky. . . Not like yours . . Could hardly get it out of the dish let alone knead it. The "a bit dry" was after adding the additional Cornstarch. I used Cornstarch not Corn Flower. I haven't tried it yet. I will this afternoon. If it doesn't work I will make a new batch using Olive oil. Thanks again and HAPPY CRAFTING!🤗👍
@@jeansvoboda586 Well it sounds like you used the right stuff so I truly have no idea what went wrong. I'm so sorry it's not working for you. Have you tried the cooked version? There is a link to that video at the top of the description box. But it's still boggling my mind that you are the second person that has had that soupy consistency problem. I didn't do anything different than what I showed in the video and made sure that each step was visible, so I'm totally confused and really feel bad that it's not working for you. But maybe you'll have better luck with the cooked version. Let me know how things go :) Hugs....Janie
@@janiethecraftprincessHello again! Well, I haven't had a chance to do the clay thing, but I took some out and it seems to be OK. . A little soft to hold a shape, but if I am careful I will try kneading it with a pinch of the Cornstarch. I think it will be fine! I did realize I had used Playskool Glue and not Elmer's. I think Elmer's is thicker so will use that next time! Thanks again for all your helpful tips and advice! Take care, God bless and happy crafting!🤗 Jeannie
@@jeansvoboda586 Yes just add a little cornstarch as needed. It is a little soft, not stiff like playdoh, but should hold its shape. Good luck with it....I'm sure it will be just fine. Are you using molds or free form or cookie cutters or ? Let me know how it goes :) Hugs....Janie
No fungus.....no mold.....no problems. The lemon juice is the ingredient that prevents those problems. Also, I have never had cornstarch ever have fungus in anything. Is it waterproof? I have never soaked my creation in water and wouldn't know why I would, so I have no idea. I do know they are safe to wipe off with a damp cloth.....so they are ok to get wet. This is cheap enough to make that you should just make it and find out. Enjoy 😊
Oh, I can't wait to try this! I used to love making things from polymer clay, but I had to stop once we got a parrot (the fumes, you know, and I was scared of the cooked cold porcelain for the same reason). This looks really nice ♥
No fumes and all ingredients are non-toxic. I have never worked with polymer clay, but from what I know, they are nothing alike. This dries with a smoothe hard surface. I hope you have fun and keep your parrot safe. Thanks for stopping by 😊 Hugs....Janie
@@janiethecraftprincess Yeah, it looks like a different texture entirely, smoother and kind of silky. I can't wait to try it ♥ and thanks so much for the kind words ^^. *hugs*

I have no idea......but I'm pretty sure it would effect the texture and consistency. My suggestion is try it, if it works great, and if not then you will know 😊

@@janiethecraftprincessyou are way more patient than I am with these people 😂 I watch a lot of tutorials where the creator speaks Hindi. I couldn’t imagine asking them to speak English. Usually, there is enough context within the video to understand what’s going on, if I’m paying attention.
Not that I know of....at least so far I haven't noticed a difference. I'll be honest, I was worried it would not be as strong. But I think it works great. The no cook version is definitely easier to make. I also have a video on the cooked version so maybe you can try both and see what you think. I'm happy you like this recipe and I hope you have fun using it :) Hugs....Janie
Yes they are hard as a rock.....it's suppose to be. Since you are asking about hooks and rings I'm guessing you are wanting to make jewelry and not embellishments. To create holes for jump rings, I use a tooth pick to poke a hole through while it's still soft. For pendants I glue a bale to the back after it's hard. I hope this helps. 😊
I’ve been having a lot of trouble with mine. The batch I made was like thin frosting at first. It didn’t firm up until I had to use the new corn starch I bought. After working it some more, it started feeling more like dough than clay. It would break apart when pulled. I then tried adding more oil, but it just wouldn’t stop feeling like play doh. It never regained that stretch. It kept leaving a very sticky residue on my hands no matter how much oil I used or how much I worked it. Was it too warm? Did I overwork it? Was it too dry? Did the old corn starch mess it up? Is it just like that until it sets? Can I even salvage it at this point?
I have been told that humidity can effect it. We do not have humidity where I live. It sounds like you over corrected. You have added too much corn starch, or waited to long to add the new corn starch. From there it sounds like you added more oil and well......just kept trying to fix what was already a mess. I would have started over. And only add small amounts when trying to correct. I have never had a batch that felt like playdoh or that lost it's stretch. As for the sticky.......yup, it's very sticky until it has been kneaded enough......and definitely a mess on your hands. I have tried using rubber gloves just so I can remove them and not have the mess on me, but it is still a mess on the gloves. I have tried having a lot of lotion or baby oil on my hands and it helps a little. Some one left a comment saying they put theirs in a ziplock bag to do the kneading and I think that sounds like a great idea! And no.....you can't salvage it at this point.....you can only attempt make corrections during the process. If you stop and wait any lengthe of time then you might as well just toss it. The whole process is time sensitive. And then once you have successfully made it, be sure to wrap it tightly in plastic wrap so no air can get in, and then store it in an air tight container. Good luck
I don't see why not. You might have to glue them in, but I'm not sure because I've never tried that. I have seen people do many things with this, including taking it out of the mold right away while it's still flexible and wrap it around things, and use it without a mold (I have done that to make beads). I think the possibilities are endless. You should give it a try 😊 Hugs...Janie
I have never had it crack. I would suggest that you make sure it's the soft consistency that I show in the video.....it's not a stiff consistency like many clays. If you make it too stiff I would imagine it could crack. But like I said, I have never had it crack. Good luck 😊 Hugs....Janie
I'm not sure what recipe you previously used for the cooked version (which I also have a video for), but the only difference in my recipes is that for the no-cook version there is 1/4 cup more of CORN STARCH (not corn flour)......other than that the recipe is the same. And no cooking/microwave. It is the same cold porcelain......same color, same consistency, same results. I'm pretty sure you can see that in my video. Give it a try and if you don't like it at least it wasn't expensive. Have fun :) Hugs....Janie

Can you use the clay for bigger projects.

And let it air dry....do not try to speed it up with heat. Be sure the "dough" is soft and stretchy.....it's not like other "clays" that have a firm texture.
@@janiethecraftprincess I have some items on my Facebook page, Chrissie's Creations, Forever Flowers-Plus. facebook.com/Chrissies-Creations-Forever-Flowers-Plus-157057084443071 . I hope that adding my URL isn't against TH-cam policy or your own...if so, no offense if deleted. I will let you know how it works out when I get a chance to try this clay...thank you.
Love it! Amazing job 👏👏👏
Thank you so much!! 😊 Merry Christmas 🎄🤗 Hugs...Janie
Blessings from Bklyn Ny love it was very to follow and would like to no if you can use flour instead of the corn starch would it come out the same
Thank you so much!
Could flour replace the cornstarch? Also thank you for this amazing recipe!!
As far as I know the answer is no. Flour and corn starch are two different things.....so just like when baking you wouldn't replace one with the other. But feel free to try it if you would like, however just be prepared that it won't be the same.
Janie - The Craft Princess ok thank you for your quick reply!

Very nice. Pls tell about the varnish too. If we put an acrylic color on em, can we put the acrylic gloss varnish or we need a propers crafts varnish?

Can i use clear glue ?? Please reply
Never tried....have no idea. Since this is so inexpensive you should just give it a try and see what happens 😊
Thank you Janie, this is so cool.

How do you get cold porcelain to harden? The clay I've tried dries rubbery. Also what kind of glue do you use?
Thank you for stopping by. All of that information is in my video....what I used and how I used it. Please watch so you don't miss any of the important information. I have discovered if I answer questions in a reply, the person often misses something else. It air dries and dries hard not rubbery. Since it is very inexpensive to make, you should make a batch and see for yourself. Good luck and have fun 😊 Hugs....Janie
When I started kneading mine I did it in a gallon size ziplock bag
That is a great idea! Thanks for sharing 😊 Hugs....Janie
Very good explanation maam
Thank you 😊 I'm glad you like it. Thanks for stopping by 😊
I wonder if you coud use a mixer with dough hooks to mix it?
Can I use clear washable Elmer's glue instead of the school glue?
Don't know.....don't have it....haven't tried it. Let me know if it works 😊 I have never used the clear Elmer's glue for anything so I don't know if it has a different consistency, but I would think it's a different formula, so it may not work. But if you already have that glue, you should try it since it doesn't cost much to make this. When I get asked questions like this always suggest trying it. Good luck. Thanks for stopping by 😊
Is cold porcelain permanent after drying or does it fall apart in time?
Cold porcelain is solid and smooth, not porus like some "clays". I have never had any fall apart over time, and have some that are several years old. In fact some that I showed in this video were at least 3 years old and this video is 2 years old, so over 5 years or longer nothing has fallen apart. I honestly don't see how this can fall apart. It's inexpensive so just give it a try. I also have a video on making a version that you cook. I think you will love this cold porcelain 😊
Can l use white glue? Also, can l use premixed Flexable Porcelain paste? Thank you😊
I'm sure you watched so you already know the recipe calls for white glue, which is what I used. As for your other question, I have no idea. I don't know what flexable porcelain paste is. My suggestion would be to try it and see what happens. Have fun and good luck 😊
will this cling well to papier mache or would it need to be glued in some way first? And can it be sanded when dry?
Janie - The Craft Princess Thank you for the receipt.
Hi Janie Can you use ordinary flour?
I have no idea. It would probably not turn out the same. You can pick up corn starch at the Dollar Tree if you're looking for cheap. But flour and corn starch are different and will most likely create a different dough. You can always try it 😊
Does it mold? Im planning on making this soon
Mold? Like does it get moldy? No....not at all.....not ever. The lemon juice or vinegar is probably what prevents that....but really I've never known any clay or modeling substance to get moldy. And honestly, there is nothing in this to mold. But you know.....it's a good question I guess. I hope I have helped.
Thanks for this video, i have a question.....do the items get moldy over time? Because of lemon juice

Could you use a stand mixer with dough hooks to knead it? That would cut down on the mess on your hands.
I have no idea.....have never tried it. But then of course you would have the mess on your kneading hook....LOL But like I tell everyone that asks questions I don't have an answer to.....give it a try and find out. Good luck :) Hugs....Janie
Hi, I was wondering if you can use Elmer's wood glue or mod podge instead of Elmer's glue. Thank you.
Good luck 😊
Can you paint on the clay when it’s completely dry?
I wish you would have actually watched my video because your question was answered a few times in the beginning of my video. I hope you take the time to watch the entire video so you don't miss any other important information. Thank you for stopping by.
Sorry for troubling you. I find your reply seemingly costic. I have watched it again. You said it once.
Preserve and which types material glossy effect
Is this heavy if I want to create bigger articles?
I'm sure I showed in the video how light weight it is....but if I didn't show in this video I must have shown in my other cold procelaine video. So it is very light weight and sturdy. Larger things will take longer to dry all the way through so give it plenty of time. Depending on how large you might even want to give it days. I have never done anything that large, but did leave a batch unused way to long and it did become solid....LOL. Have fun :) Hugs....Janie
What type of sealer could I use for this recipe. Thank you.
I don’t use sealer…it doesn’t need it. Thanks for stopping by 😊 Hugs…Janie
HAPPY CRAFTING🤗
Jeannie . .sorry this is sooo long.🙄
Hi.....thanks for stopping by.
Sorry I confused you!🤔
The "MELTED CHEESE" part was when I first mixed everything together.

It's not get fungus ? Bec. raw cornflour you used. It's waterproof?
No fungus.....no mold.....no problems. The lemon juice is the ingredient that prevents those problems. Also, I have never had cornstarch ever have fungus in anything. Is it waterproof? How do we fix the rings and hooks ,they are hard as rock dear.
Good luck
Can I put mosaic tiles in this?
I don't see why not. You might have to glue them in, but I'm not sure because I've never tried that. I have seen people do many things with this, including taking it out of the mold right away while it's still flexible and wrap it around things, and use it without a mold (I have done that to make beads). I think the possibilities are endless. You should give it a try 😊 Hugs...Janie
Hi wondering if this will crack , as I have a lot of problems with airdry clay
I have never had it crack. I would suggest that you make sure it's the soft consistency that I show in the video.....it's not a stiff consistency like many clays. If you make it too stiff I would imagine it could crack. But like I said, I have never had it crack. Good luck 😊 Hugs....Janie
So its like normal CP clay with more corn flour and less glue and no microwave?
I'm not sure what recipe you previously used for the cooked version (which I also have a video for), but the only difference in my recipes is that for the no-cook version there is 1/4 cup more of CORN STARCH (not corn flour)......other than that the recipe is the same. And no cooking/microwave. It is the same cold porcelain......same color, same consistency, same results. I'm pretty sure you can see that in my video. Give it a try and if you don't like it at least it wasn't expensive. Have fun :) Hugs....Janie
