    4) NOTE: If you are having trouble learning this shuffle... remember to have patience. Many people have posted their success in learning it, just by watching this video - I tried to include every possible detail... PLEASE be aware that not every tip will sink in the first time you watch... and although it's counter-intuitive... IF YOU WATCH THIS VIDEO AGAIN.... that will probably be enough to learn it. Just pay close attention to all the tips I give. Look at my finger positions carefully. This will be a life-long skill you can enjoy... so you might as well learn it now! :)

      I highly recommend to calm down... take a breath... and just watch this video one more time. I gave A LOT of details and troubleshooting techniques. It's quite possible not all of this sinks in the first time. Watch my finger positions carefully, and make sure you see the entire video. With practice you can DEFINITELY learn this shuffle... many others have commented on their success below. And I believe you can have it too. Just don't give up too soon. (By the way, as I mentioned in the video... the cards get bent one way first... don't hold it there too long... .and then they will be bent the opposite way.... so please listen carefully to the video.) Best of luck! This is a great skill to enjoy the rest of your life...! :)

    I literally learned how to shuffle alright in a hour due to this video, and was hopeless before, so just be confident if you are losing hope.
    My best tips that I 100% reccomend to follow is just practice riffling with you thumb and to not be scared and apply lots of force on the cards with your index when shuffling. Don't worry you'll get it. 😁

    • @JasonParkerMagic
      @JasonParkerMagic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      That's great! People pay attention to Ben and don't give up! If you aren't getting it at first, keep trying and pay CAREFUL attention to the trouble shooting sections of the video. Make sure your fingers are in the same position as mine. It might take WORK. But you'll be happy you learned...... life-long skill! :)

  • @Shazzner
    @Shazzner 3 ปีที่แล้ว +34

    Holy shit, I used to get made fun of because I could never shuffle cards but now I'm getting the hang of it. I used to tell people my hands were too big, but apparently that makes it easier (i'm 6'4 and have giant hands)?
    Anyways, one tip I could give is not only is it important to know the right way to handle them but also knowing when you're about to do it wrong. When I would try to bend them, I could feel the cards being stiff in my hands and my thumb doesn't have control over them. I usually reset there and kind of practice with one hand just getting the feel of riffling them. It was much more difficult to do in my non-dominate hand for obvious reasons. Also flipping the cards around kind of bent them back and reset it. Anyways, thank you!

    • @JasonParkerMagic
      @JasonParkerMagic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have been going through a tough time lately, feeling like I wasn’t getting anywhere with one past time that I’ve been doing for such a long time and feeling like I just couldn’t learn anything properly to get better at it. So I decided “Screw it-new hobby time” and always thought it would be awesome to get into card and coin magic. Except I’m starting from scratch, couldn’t even shuffle. So, already feeling cruddy about my learning abilities, but needing to try and pull myself along, I found your tutorial here for shuffling. I started out like junk and really impatient with myself… but when I settled down, really paid attention to your instructions and demonstrated steps, it worked!! I’m still working on smoothing it out, but feel so excited at being able to learn this simple but solid little foundation piece, where I’ve been shuffling cards basically the same messy way as I’ve been since about 7/8 years old lol thanks for such clear instructions. As a child, my family was poor and I collected different decks of cards since that was, at the time, the cheapest hobby I could have had. Usually second hand decks from my uncle’s poker habit or used casino decks from dollar stores. I recently got back into collecting when I saw a random cardistry video on TH-cam and realized how artful most new decks are. Now as an adult with trigger finger in the middle finger of my dominant hand, I can’t riffle shuffle as well as I could as a child and found that the grip you use, and I suppose everyone else probably uses, helps me to ruffle again. Thank you for being the first cardistry tutorial I have watched and hopefully I can learn a few more moves that are light on middle finger movement.

    Oh my word this was worth a watch. Look, I know how to shuffle but watched anyway out of curiosity while trying to beat insomnia late at night. This is hands down the best tutorial I've seen on the subject. Very clear instructions and demonstration. Every second in this video is utilized to reach the goal of the video, thanks for not trash talking away half the video and launching into the action straight away. You've peaked my interest, I've subscribed.

    There is an element of muscle memory too - takes a little while to be able to lay in cards one at a time.
    Practising releasing the cards one at a time with each hand held me too. Same thing happened when I was learning other shuffles. You develop more control over a bit of time.

(but more importantly, make sure you see the troubleshooting section of this video where I talk about the cards coming out in chunks or more individually. Also make your thumb-tips parallel to edge of deck, not perpendicular. Look closely at what I am doing.)

    • @JasonParkerMagic
      @JasonParkerMagic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@imshooktaf758 Wish I could see exactly how you are having difficulty.... but one thing I've seen before is people don't keep enough pressure on the top of the curved bridge with the thumbs.... gotta keep it round on top.... needs to be kept under tension. An arch shape. Then when you start to release pressure on the sides with your fingers.... the cards have nowhere else to go except to release and coalesce together. Keep that pressure with thumbs on top of bridge pushing down.

      I thought I already replied to this message, but I guess not? Pay special attention to the part where I show about beveling the cards to help with releasing them less in clumps.
