This object reminds me of the False Hydra a fan-made monster for D&D. The False Hydra sings a song that erases it and its victim's existence from memory and worse your mind excuses inconsistencies. In a family that loses a wife to the hydra, the husband will not remember having a wife the children will not remember having a mother. The family will likely remember the children as adopted and the husband will either wonder why he has woman's clothes or remember he's a cross-dresser. The only times they will remember the truth is when they can't hear the hydra's song. The hydra can be right in front of you and you will not realize you see it till the song stops. I believe the bodies of the red objects victims are still in that testing chamber but people can't recognize their there. With both the False Hydra and the red object no one can take proper precautions because their effects force you to think nothing wrong with only the strongest inconsistencies breaking through the effect. Yet even when those inconsistencies are noticed you're prevented from putting 2&2 together.
