When I got my license in the 90s as a kid, i would drive in and explore the hoods of Rochester. A lot less building now and Lyell ave somehow looks nicer now the. It did. Still, it looks like not much has changed. I did like driving around the hoods of the north side more. Clinton Joseph Hudson and Portland were always more lively. I am still sad that Paul Bunyan is gone. Now i live in Baltimore and the Rochester Hoods look like Pittsford by comparison

According to Google Maps, the house my father was born in on Syke St in 1924 is still occupied. The city, as I recall it from back in 1962, looks much the same. A lot of the houses were built in the late 1800s. It doesn't look like there's been any improvement since.

No it’s not a well kept hood. Lyell avenue is one of the most dangerous places in the city. It is know for, drug dealers, prostitution and barely a week goes by there isn’t a murder on it.
