    I went to Syracuse Way back in the 70s and we used to think Rochester was oh-so-posh compared to grim Syracuse. Well, we were very wrong. What a godawful dump. Except for Pittsford. Pittsford you still get a 👍.

    Rochester is a Depressing City. We don't even have a Downtown any more. Everything is Gone no one cares. This was once a Beautiful City look at it now. The Power's that be do nothing to help clean up or build up the inner city. They don't help the kids feel better about their life here. The kids suffer the most. The teachers just push the kids though the classes most can't read. If people cared they would have found a way to get the kids into churches and recreation centers. When the shutdown was lifted it was time to get the children back in school and start teaching them again. However instead they let him run the streets and do whatever they wanted to do which didn't help.
    God help our children and God Bless America Amen.

    Cities Park really memories of cities are really more memories of the people we knew and loved and befriended when we lived there rather than places or things. Although I do still get teary-eyed remembering Nick tahou's Hots and garbage plates on West Main Street. Back to my point about the people we knew and loved in a particular location. Sadly so many of the people I knew and loved and cherished in Rochester have either passed away or moved away from Rochester. So I I think a return to visit would just be heartbreaking.

    I left Rochester in 1997 to go to San Diego California San Diego is okay but Rochester will always be home. Some day I may even go back since it's been 24 years since I've been to Rochester. I guess it has changed a bit since 1997. But I have many fond memories

      You would be wise to remain in San Diego despite it being expensive. Rochester and upstate New York have all gone downhill due to poor leadership, rampant NIMBYISM, and lack of fresh new ideas for problem solving.

      I also live in California , the Bay Area , I am an original Cali Girl born and raised but lived in Rochester for almost 13 years , My son was born there. Rochester is a beautiful place, Upstate New York is gorgeous , but I moved due to relationship issues and wanting a change in life . I miss NY so much , there is no place like Rochester , it may be a smaller city , but has sooo much to offer , it's these Thugs that make the area depreciated in Value , But trust me Upstate NY does have lots and lots to offer .

      Yandel it depends on where you're moving to. Inside the city is where crime is the highest. The suburbs have crime yes but less violent crime though I could be wrong. You can always look up crime statistics online.
      I grew up in Rochester and have family still living there. One family member lived next to drug dealers in the city. I watched them finish a deal then give my my grandson a high five as he ran away giggling. Not everyone is that cool but if you're nice to others they'll generally be nice to you. Talk to your parent(s) before helping someone in a big way. Always go out with a friend for safety's sake. Don't be afraid to tell an adult if bullying or other abuse happens. Rochester has some gorgeous waterfalls and parks. I hope you'll love it there.

      @MattCouzensMusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CapitalTrigga when I lived in Rochester, I found that to be a popular sentiment. Rochester definitely has a lot more in common with Indiana, Ohio, etc. than NYC. But NYC and pretty much most of NY below Albany has *way* more than half the population and a huge % of the GDP of NY state. So as much as upstate really doesn't like that association, you all would be hurting without that revenue. Would you rather be more like West Virginia or "put up with" NYC and not be basically a 3rd world country? Let's face it, the glory days of Xerox, Kodak, Bausch and Lomb, Johnson and Johnson, Paychex, etc. are done and you're basically left with crumbling infrastructure, toxic rivers, algae plumes at Charlotte (yes I know it's not pronounced like the city in NC) and garbage plates. I loved Dinosaur BBQ. RIT is great. But c'mon. You can't enjoy the economic benefits of NYC being in your state and then try to resent it too. You'd be Detroit or Alabama without NYC. 🤷‍♀️

    When I lived there (Monroe and Goodman) it was so weird how many people just left garbage piled on the sidewalk. The city eventually picked it up. But WTAF? No limits on how much you can fit in a can? Also, some parts of town are *way* worse than this video shows. *DEFINITELY* research your neighborhood before moving. Use an agency even......

      Back in the 70s and 80s, Rochester was a very clean and well kept city despite the middle class moving to the suburbs. It was still a prosperous and proud city in those decades. Ever since Eastman Kodak made that horrible mistake of not investing in digital, that is when everything went to shit very rapidly.

    • @MattCouzensMusic
      @MattCouzensMusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@r.pres.4121 sure, but what about Bausch and Lomb? J&J? Xerox? Paychex? IMB? Deloitte? And on and on..... It wasn't just one Kodak executive who said, "Digital is a fad. People will always want their prints." that ruined Rochester. *Plenty* of other companies left ROC high and dry or moved factories overseas or whatever. Ultimately the people of Rochester need to either build something or leave. All they seemed capable of doing when I lived there was complaining about how other people ruined things.
