Nomad Sculpt new update - 1.85 released today with Quadremesher and Facegroups

- Nomad Sculpt 1.85 is out with lots of new features including the Amazing Quadremesher form Exoside.
Here’s the list of updates and tweaks..
• ios: add quad remesh plugin, from EXOSIDE (15$, one time purchase) ios: quad remesher supports face group, guides and density painting
• dyntopo: add an option to take the brush falloff and alpha into account
• facegroup: add facegroup tool hide: add hide tool paint: add vertex transparency support
• light: replace shadow softness option with size (point, spot) and angle (directional) option light: point
• lights will automatically cast screenspace shadow even if shadowmap option is on light: add environment light (directional with automatic color, intensity and orientation) light: fix crash when deleting a light
• primitive: all primitives now have UVs
• primitive: replace linear subdivision checkbox with a slider to allow more control (more subtle round borders)
• misc: improve overall brush behaviour when non uniform scale, skew or inverse culling is present misc: add sonar pen support
• obj: export folder only if textures are present ply: add ply import and export
• lathe: display orange vertical line when curve is selected tube: profile viewport UX improved
• file: improve tiff support
• ios: import button now supports folder selection
• smudge: improve tool quality
• render: fix fov and camera position being tweaked during render export interface: reset tool orders will reset custom tools according to their name mask: interacting with extraction slider will show a preview of the output matcap: added a lock rotation option for matcap (prevent three-fingers gesture rotation)
• move: add background radius option
• layer: fix longstanding bug where layers could be corrupted when using the keep top details option
• split: fix line shape
• gizmo: fix reset pivot mask button being always disabled heightmap: fix black screen when tone mapping is disabled background: gradient option stroke: fix snap radius option
• symmetry: flip object now works with multires object (enabling material culling instead of flipping faces)
• bake: improvements for both vertex and texture reprojection
• gesture: more control for three-finger gestures. In case of conflict, Ul order matters. But light gesture is only active in PBR or Matcap+Lock off.
So by default:
Matcap+lock on mode, radius/intensity gestures active
PBR mode, radius/light gestures active

The horn was messing up because you had some tiny little "polygroups" on the border between the head and the horn. That will mess up Quad Remesher everytime.
Yeah good spot Tom. I've been playing and learning today and the facegroup accuracy seems critical. Just getting to grips with curves and painting the density.
New features seem awesome. Definitely going to get the quad remesher upgrade. Thanks for the quick info on this.
Nomad Sculpt has revolutionized sculpting and semi-modeling. The new QaudRemesh: Im on a Tab S8 so im crying a little lol. $15 is actually low in my opinion because NS goes above and beyond what is expected so the developer/programmer deserves it. ***Imma have to find out if you are responsible for the new Alien movie design*** ;)

Because my interest is through the lens of 3D Printing, what excites me about this is not so much the new paid features, but the fact there is now a way to include additional tools from other people into Nomad. I'm hoping this leads to lots of other exciting additions!

Damn, how do I handle scaling and measuring? In Meshmixer as soon as I drag out a primitive cube I can see and change the size in millimeters. Also when multiple shapes are selected I can tap on 2 faces and immediately see the distance between them.

As I know, quadremesher is only available with IOS, I would use third part software to quadremesh if you work on Android tab

Quick question. The mask tool doesn’t seem to work like it used to. I’m relatively new to Nomad. I would cut out the areas I didn’t want to see with the mask tool, but since I loaded up my sculpt, it still shows the cut out areas in a darker colour instead of just the masked area I want to see. I’m using the app to make masks for cosplay and the mask tool was a handy way to brush out areas I didn’t want to show. Now I can’t figure out how to use it. I’ve used the face group too,today but when I press mask, it cuts away a lot of the smoothness and makes the cuts all jagged and bigger than what I masked off if that makes sense, I think the pinch tool can fix those . Any suggestions? As “ Mask” doesn’t seem to just clear the areas you don’t want to see anymore. It’s really confusing.
Interesting. Is there a way to restore a mask from a facegroup? I somehow managed to restrict a mask to a facegroup, but Idk how I did that. The interactions between masks and facegroups are a big mystery to me.
Need to find a good course on that 😉
Also still no rigging tools or saving gizmo transforms in layers.
Doing posing via the hierarchy is so tedious. 😞

I use nomad on android but the quad remesher is still in the misc tab? It does not look like the one shown in the video? I have the 1.85 version. Am i doing something wrong ?

Somehow clicking on a painted face group when „hide“ is on doesn’t do anything. In your video I see it automatically hides all other face masked parts, when you tap on one, but mine doesn’t do anything. Nothing in settings seems to change that. Any idea what’s wrong with mine?

You need to go into the settings, to „Gesture“, The gesture for Camera, is the problem. Whatever is activated in „Camera“ will not be able to interact with the face mask to hide them. So, if you use a stylus, activate „camera“ for „stylus“ and deactivate it for“finger“.
Now „finger“ does not use the camera gesture and can hide/show the face groups. (You also need to select „view“ in the sidebar when using hide)
Works the other way around too. A bit problematic for me as I often like to use only my fingers to work.

@@anglereserve Someone just told me how to fix this in a better way. -> „I’ve discovered that if you enable “Hidden” under Toolbox in the Interface settings, this will allow you to keep using your finger to navigate the scene and enable you to use tap to hide face groups.“
hmm wish there was a way to do the opacity alpha in nomad to shap texture cards without having to leave the app

Click on quad mesh and then click the symbol where it usually has the validate button

Warning: Nomad 1.85 crashing on Android!
I have a S22 Ultra and S8 Ultra and both are now crashing with this build. Cant open Nomad at all on my phone or tablet.
Dang.. same here.. Using a Tab S8 ....Guess I'll have to wait for a patch or see if there is a way to drop back down to my last version..
@@AlexAntuna It's being reported on the Nomad Sculpt forums. Looks like they are aware. Would be good if there were a way to revert back to 1.84.

Why the hell it is 15 USD for people in US and 20 USD for me? Makes no sense…
Do you know how to move the options window/bar on topmid. I love the new features but i really wish i could move that to the side 🥲
