  • Hi Everyone,
Here is part two of our mini botanical journals.
This tutorial is about having fun with watercolour and producing these little thumbnail sketches for embellishing our pages.
I just love making a sheet of these. They are fun and add charm to any journal or art project.
Instant ephemera, ready to use that is your very own creations.
I hope this encourages you to give watercolour a try and inspires you to introduce perhaps a new medium into your repertoire.
    Happy creating!

Think you so Much for sharing. Many years ago I used to draw and paint, then work and life got in the way. Since my husband passed I have mor time on my hands, and although I can’t seem to do it as well as I used to, watching and following along with you it’s slowly coming back. Thank you so much.

I painted along in my sketchbook just to learn and practice and this was so fun. Now to do some a little bigger to use for cards.

This is a great video. Anyone looking for a wonderful water color artist on TH-cam I highly recommend
de Winton Paper Co. Harriet DeWinton is amazing and like you she paints in real time with all the helpful details to give you the tools to give it a go. She is from the UK and has such a lovely tone to her voice. I have followed and unfollowed many watercolor artists for the main reason of not keeping the details simple. I have recently found you and I have been filling in my drawing pads with the cutest birdhouses and mushroom houses and and….
You are doing an awesome job of spreading the knowledge and allowing art to flow from the many who have not had the tools or inspirations! Thank you for sharing your gift!

Thank you for making simple videos of water color. They made me think, I can do this. It's been very stressful and I'm far from being loose but you've really inspired me. Please keep the videos coming. I watch every brush stroke and learning lots.

i enjoy your keep it simple videos. Hot press wc paper is smooth. *think of pressing clithes with a hot iron. Cold press is textured, like clothes left in a cold dryer. 😊

I'm new to your channel and am enjoying it. I do have a suggestion. Seeing as you are right handed, try starting on the left hand of your work. This way if paint needs to dry while you are filling the rest of your paper, you won't be crossing over your previous work.

Regarding paint colour names - I have one of these W&N 'Cotman' sets now and the colours seem standard to them all. If you want to replace a used-up colour, the little pans can be levered carefully out of the base (wet the edges to help) and the paint name and code ref is stamped (very small) on the side of the plastic pan to identify it and a replacement block can be dropped into the tray. I have bought some from local UK online markets (part-used often) as much cheaper than new sets! Happy painting...
