    Couple tips for your geoguessr videos, that you might find helpful if you see this. If you click ahead of you, and can't get it to work, try the arrows that show up instead of clicking ahead, just to get you going in the right direction. For example at 4:54, you tried to click up to the sign to no avail, but there was an arrow pointing in that direction, so clicking that may have helped you see the sign better. Also, the map can enlarge further if necessary, there are arrows on it to enlarge and minimize it. Hope this helps :)

    16:21 Lee was at Arlington house as executor of his father in laws will, for which he was on leave from his Texas post. Since he was so close to Washington, DC he got summoned when news of the raid reached Washington. The Marines were the only available forces for him to take to Harper's Ferry.

    Your video gave me goosebumps seeing all these battlefields, which made me remember a trip that My Dad organized that brought us to multiple civil war battlefields and points of interest in Virginia with my Mom, Brother and I. We started in Harper's Ferry and went through Bull Run, Antietam, Fredricksburg, WIlderness, Appomattox, Petersburg and a bunch more. The 2 biggest things about the trip that I will never forget were that A) My dad had actually mapped it out to the point where, we were literally going to all of these sites in chronological order, even if it meant coming back to he area later to see a battle that took place close to each other and B) We got to go to Cold Harbor which, for one, felt so much like a precursor to World War 1 (Petersburg as well with the mines), but also we got there soon after they had just put up a memorial plaque for the Connecticut 2nd Volunteer Heavy Artillery Regiment. Being from CT, and knowing the story beforehand since it was one of the reasons I wanted to go see the Battlefield in the first place, it was just such an emotional thing to see. Thanks for the video and keep them up!

  • @Ozai75
    @Ozai75 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    You could immediately tell it was Harper's Ferry from the fact that it's completely surrounded by those huge mountains. People wonder why the "Harper's Ferry Cowards" surrendered...if you don't have control of that high ground what else are you going to do?

    Antietam stands out as the most poignant of the battlefields I've personally visited, from the shock of the displayed bayonets bent into hooks to pull the corpses at the visitor's center to the beauty of Burnside's Bridge and the "Witness Tree" to the sincere but absurd McKinley "Coffee" monument it is very well laid out.

    It's crazy how these kinds of knowledge becomes long term memory once you store them inside your brain's storage.
    I had a chauffeur, who used to be a taxi driver for 15 years, when I was still in school. He knows the route of Jakarta inside out and knows every nook and cranny of every shortcuts and small roads. I did a game with him where I open Google Earth and asked him what road is being shown on the street view and he got it 8-9/10 everytime. The human brain is interesting.

    I actually am from Checotah, Oklahoma so it funny seeing honey springs pop up. Our school would do field trips down there to see some of the reenactment stuff and buy souvenirs (got some videos and a lot of maps and stuff from my various visits). It’s was a really fun thing to do later in the Fall semester. Also yeah Carrie Underwood is from here and does a bunch of stuff for the town and school from time to time although less recently from what I’ve noticed.

    The area at the Chattanooga battlefield shown is not at point park and is halfway up the mountain. The area is craven’s house and I believe the monument is the Ohio monument.
    Also got to go to fort Donelson, Andersonville, and most recently stones river. I was the project engineer over both the paving jobs at the battlefields for the Federal Highway Administration the last few years.

    Hey Chris, didn't know how to message besides here; anyway there is a documentary series on TH-cam that was made years ago called "The Men who killed Kennedy". Don't know if you have seen it, as each part is over an hour long, but, it is incredibly in depth on the background of Oswald, Jack Ruby; explores the Warren Commission Report, and barely stops at all out saying it was a conspiracy. I'd love to see a reaction with that series, and it would be a LOT of content for your channel!

    I think Duluth has something to do with the lost confederate gold since in 1861 the governor of MN was in DC, lincolns guard and one of the first regiments of northern troops in the Civil War. So I think that road is the old army road leading to the capitol.
