All in all it was pretty easy to install this gate opener. There was a little prep work getting our gates completely level and digging the trench for the wires but other than that it was a straight forward project on the homestead.

NICE INSTALL ! I would have ran the second operator wiring in plastic conduit just to protect it from deterioration over time or possible critters chewing on it.Ghost Controls definatly has the best warranty and tech support going. Now add the zombie lock when you get the funds or time and nobody can unpin the opener from the gate end and come in while you are both away from home (not likely but possible) Good Job Sir.
That's a good point. Thank you for your comment. Zombie lock will probably happen at some point but our outdoor guard dogs do a pretty good job for now. lol

Nice install. How well is that single solar panel keeping up with dual openers? For a little added security without dishing out nearly $200 for the Zombie Lock, you can put the locking clevis pins on the gate mount as well. I used a combination lock and set the combo to match the keypad code. Keeps somebody from simply jumping the fence and taking the pins out.
It's doing just fine. Even with days or weeks of snow/rain, it hasn't failed us yet. Thanks for the suggestion.
was a pain in the butt getting the pvc conduit under our concrete driveway with all the clay in georgia...
Do you have any further updates or suggestions on this after some months in to it's installation and use?
We absolutely love it. Never had a problem with the battery all winter with heavy snow. It’s been great and so convenient. I can’t say enough good things about it honestly.
Seems you may need a lager solar panel for the size of battery you're using
We’ve had it for 4 years and it has held up the way it is.
Should have added the ZombieLock Automatic gate latch/lock.

It’s doing great. Been through two winters and never had a battery problem even with low light conditions.

Nice install. I recently purchased the Ghost Control single arm DTP1 for my ornamental gate. It came with the dual battery box and a small single battery but I’m using a marine battery (and solar panel) like yours. The wiring harness was already pre-installed inside the small battery box so I need to splice it and wire with positive and negative terminals for my marine battery posts. Question: Did you have to cut and splice your’s and if so, did you install the terminals “after” the built in 20amp fuse or before? Also, why does the solar panel you are using have to be wired to the control box and not just to the battery itself? I have a trickle charger regulator that maintains and prevents the battery over charge-discharge but it hooks up straight the the battery posts.
Stupid question... My gates opens towards the street. Can I use this model?

There a way to clamp the gate close and locked while in the closed position Auto Unlock when gate opens for added security? Or does it simply just able to stay in the closed position while someone can push and go right through?
There is a lock you can buy for it. The way it’s installed on this video, yes someone could just run their car through it but they could do that with a lock too. For us, the gate is one part of our security, other parts are the motion lights and cameras as well as our 2 guard dogs that are outside 24/7.
The lock made by Ghost Controls is called a Zombie Lock and it is about $170.

Do you have the specs on the battery?
It’s just a regular car battery.
Why bother putting the lock on only one side of the actuator? As you demonstrated, anyone could unhook the other side and open the gate in seconds.
To prevent it from being stolen. Anyone could just jump over the fence too. The gate is just one part of our security system, our outdoor guard doors are also part.

@@LifeWithTheFultons I just got it installed and love it! All in all it was definitely pretty expensive but so much better than a chain between 2 posts which is what I had before. I ended up putting a machine screw with nut into the holes to replace the cotter pins to make it a little more secure.
