    Solar-powered ghost controls is the way to go for sure. After several years if your gate start squeaking and grabbing take the move her arm pull the pins turned it upside down take the bolts out, put the bolts in a cup some of them might stay in there not fall out. Then separate the plastic from the two sides of the arm, and spray in there with knocker loose on the corkscrew on the thread portion. Let it drip out of the plastic arm cover by turning it sideways. Then after about a half an hour or so spray it with WD-40. Then let it dry up about 15 to 20 minutes. Then put it back together. Now your gate won't grab and it won't squeak as mine did from so many years on the dirt driveway driveway.

    I just finished building my gate. I went Apollo 1050 board w/816 actuators, high security keypad, and a cartel exit sensor. I also splurged and got the super remotes that work for like a mile away...I took my battery system off board. I am using a Rover 400w Solar system with two walmart deep cycles for a total of 200ah. I should be able to open and close as much as one could ever desire without running dead.
    I found the build quality of Apollo Boards and Actuators to be top quality. Probably the biggest difference in my system vs this ghost is its more of a commercial build with all aspects being able to be service with different companies parts if required.
    I am wondering how the ghost plastic boxes will handle the uv and seasonal stress. I know modern plastic have lots of UV inhibitors, but I feel like those even get brittle with time.
    Anyhow, please do take a look at my setup. I just posted my video last night and am excited about it and want to share it with you!

    This is great....getting ready to install this system on some massive entrance gates I made for a customer. Instead of posts, we powder coated some I-beams and made custom hinges. Looks trick. I have to make some special closure arm hinge brackets for the I-beams. It's nice to see this visual....the manual alone would have been much harder!

    As someone who has installed a double gate operator like this, I have a couple of notes for those who hope to do the same. With two gates, these two batteries will give you about 8 cycles open close before you are damaging the batteries if there is no permanent power supplied. So this means after dark, using solar charging, you have about 8 cycles with this setup. This of course depends on your weight, length of the gate and wind. And the wire for the second motor, is not long enough for the maximum gate size that is stated as the largest. They say that the largest gate size is if I recall 16ft. Well I have two 13ft gates and the wire is about 3ft short after putting through a conduit 6” down. And the operator control box is only 18” up right on the other side.
    Using a pull to open setup, if the wind blows, it is possible that the two gates will not meet exactly in the center. If you use a push setup then the gate will meet in center every time, but on the open they may be varying in how open they get to.
    If you have the opener bracket farther from the post that the gate is mounted on, not too far, this will help from the motor hitting the post when fully closed or open. Whichever depending on your setup.

    • @CURRIN1776
      @CURRIN1776  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have had zero issues with cycles after dark using only solar to keep batteries charged. . Same batteries as from the day of install. Zero issues with anything as a matter of fact. Has worked flawlessly since day one and its been over a year now. TDS2XP is max 24' wide entrance. one arm has a 6 foot cable and a second arm has a 30 foot cable. There is the HXXDK Ghost Manor Second Arm with 50 ft. Cable for HDP1 Automatic Gate Opener Kit for spans wider than 24'. Maybe should have bought a single arm and the HXXDK. Did you call Ghost Controls and tell them your application? They are very good at guiding you to the right parts for your specific needs.

    I just bought the Ghost Control (single gate) solar but when I called the customer service, prior to ordering, they said that they do not recommend their batteries but recommend a 12v marine battery. I bought the 30w solar panel and was ready to buy two of their batteries (only need one but I like to have two incase one dies from over use or something) but was waved off. The reason was something to do with solar vs ac power used to charge the batteries. The three boxes of ghost gear is in the garage and will be installed this weekend after I pickup the battery locally and get the 4X4 posts to mount the pushbuttons and the control panel. I am re-watching some of the videos to make sure I don't miss anything. You gate seems to be a distance from your house, do you have a security camera and light. My gate is way down the driveway and I am looking at solar power for a light and camera. N

    How is this thing holding up? We just picked one up today at Agri supply in petersburg. Trying to make the farm a little more secure with everything going on. we have a hard pinch point with steep hills on either side. We're putting in 2 12's with the zombie lock. It's expensive. if they really want in they're getting in but at that point they're breaking in. That provides intent not just "taking the wrong turn lost" which drastically changes the way they will be greeted. Getting the cuddy link setup tomorrow too so we'll have real time picture surveillance.

I've been sidetracked by bean harvest but I'm slowly picking away at it when I can. it seems decent. I'm red thread locking and jam nutting everything and instead of those crappy pins with hitch pin clips on the motors I've replaced those with bolts. I welded what I could and thread locked\jam nutted the rest. all it's going to do is keep an honest man honest if they want in, a cattle gate ain't gonna cut it hahaha. I hate to do it just doesn't seem right having a gate on the drive but today's political climate being what it is... the farm house was built in 1795 so from what I've heard it has somewhat of a target on it. just being proactive & removing the question of intent. thanks for the update! I looked at Mighty Mule. and asked others about them. those who had or have them. Was told not very reliable and customer service is not good. Looked at another brand. Cannot remember name right now. To expensive for what I was needing. Found Ghost controls and the features and customer service outweighed the others.

    Does it hold the gate tight? I use mine to keep the dogs in. Wondering if I need to add the lock or not.

      Holds pretty tight. A lock would be good insurance

    14 year access controls installer here, STAY AWAY from ghost controls and mighty mule operators! If they last you a year consider yourself LUCKY! I’ve heard thousands of horror stories of bad control boards and bad actuator arms out of the box. One of the many reasons why we will refuse to install these for customers. We rip these out and recommend liftmaster, maximum controls, or even Viking brand actuators. They cost more but you’ll get every bit of 15+ years out of them

      And the sensors(probe) aren’t magnetic, they send out an electrical field and the probes send a signal when the electrical field gets disturbed. The probes are highly sensitive, walking on top, your dog walking across will set it off. Preformed loops are the more ideal sensor you’d want, they can’t be triggered by walking by them. Just fyi for more knowledge of how your gate works

      Yeah you just remove the pins where the arm attaches to the gate. Remove the cotter pin and Lift the bracket pin and move the arm off to the side. The gate will now swing freely.
