    Well done. Education is so critically important. They work damn hard and deserve fair prices.

    It's great to see that there are people out there empowering local communities to sustain themselves instead of getting stomped on by the big guys! Good work!

    That Cowboy Bebop music was quite unexpected.

    • @Lawsongems
      @Lawsongems  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha, that was a bit of a bucket list moment for me. I really wanted to make a video with an authentic "adventure/searching" scene with "The Egg and I" playing in the background like in the Cowboy Bebop episode!

    I just came across your channel. I am looking to become a lapidarist. I very much enjoy your videos and I subscribed to your channel. Please can you do a video on schools and/Or equipment or refer me to a previous video on this if you have one? Also I would like to see how to make and polish bangles from stones. so how do you cut a circular middle section out of stones and gems. Thank you so much and keep up the great work amd videos

    • @Lawsongems
      @Lawsongems  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed the film. I have a couple of instructional movies on cutting, th-cam.com/video/AwM1dOsWsoo/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/Nd6_wIczcMk/w-d-xo.html .The usual way to learn lapidary to to check out local lapidary clubs. This depends on where you are however, if you are in a country that has a cutting industry you may be able to find a company to take you onto learn.

    • @MsPrinceMarth
      @MsPrinceMarth 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lawson Gems the large flash light type tool. It’s silver with a small tip used to look at rocks. Is there anywhere I can purchase one of those?

    I real interested in going to Africa my self how is it dangerous and thanks for documenting your work do I need to know some body first

    • @Lawsongems
      @Lawsongems  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on where you want to go. I would recommend getting in touch with people like local officials in the mining industry, gemmology or lapidary centers or brokers working directly out of the country your interested in.

    • @Lawsongems
      @Lawsongems  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha thanks! I hope one day to get to do TV documentaries (I have been approached by National Geographic and Tiffany's Jewellery) which would be at least long enough for a half hour show, but for now being a TH-camr it can be tough to hold attention for more than a few minutes so I have been keeping them short, but hopefully one day soon you'll be able to catch one of my films on Television ;)

    This is so amazing! I'm just learning this as a hobby and to possibly sell some cute sets from our bus home but once I master it, I would love to maybe drive our bus through central and south america and teach this. Did GIZ offer any compensation? Can I email you for more information?

    • @Lawsongems
      @Lawsongems  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Feel free to get in touch at support@lawsongems.com. Otherwise GIZ organized our logistics on the ground and it was actually the Tiffany & Co. Foundation that sent us over there and there was also a bit of support from the Universities of Queensland and Delaware so it was a big team effort :)

      There are many Sri Lankan companies in Madagascar (probably the largest percentage, by value of the dtones, of gem buyers there are Sri Lankan) so there would be plenty of contacts for you.
