  • Are you considering dental treatment abroad? In this video, I share my honest opinion about my experience with dental care in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
    As someone who was hesitant about getting dental work done overseas, I did a lot of research before deciding to go to the dentist in Thailand. . In this video, I'll share with you what I learned about the quality of care, the affordability of treatment, and the overall experience of getting dental work done in Thailand.
    Firstly, I'll discuss the quality of care I received. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the dentists in Thailand were highly trained and skilled, and the clinics were equipped with the latest technology. I felt comfortable throughout my treatment and was impressed with the level of professionalism and attention to detail.
    Secondly, I'll talk about the affordability of treatment in Thailand. Compared to the prices I was quoted in my home country, I was able to save a significant amount of money by getting my dental work done in Thailand. I'll break down the costs and give you an idea of how much you can expect to pay for various types of treatments.
    Overall, I highly recommend considering dental treatment in Thailand. With high-quality care, affordable prices, and a great overall experience, it's a great option for those considering dental work abroad.

    My dentist in Chiang Mai is located in Santitham...and it was the best dental experience ever. She was raised in Los Angeles, with a true 'valley girl' accent (hahaha). So affordable. I spent 30 USD for a checkup and a cleaning. It kills me that my next dental appointment here in the states will likely be at least 10 times the price. It would almost be cheaper to catch a flight to Chiang Mai and get whatever I need done over there!

    My daughter, who has lived in CM for 7 years now, raves about Thai medical care - doctors and dentists. She said it is just as good as the US, but sooooo much cheaper. On my last visit a couple of months ago, I had to go to the hospital at 9 at night due to extreme stomach pains. In the US that would mean a 5-hour wait in a crowded emergency room, and a huge bill if I didn't have insurance. So I went to Chaing Mai Ram Hospital and I had a pleasant place to wait, only a 30-minute visit, then saw a nurse then doctor, who spoke great English. He had me feeling better and the total cost, for the visit and the medicine he prescribed? $31!!! Yes, only $31 dollars, and that included the medicine. So when I told this story to my daughter, I thought she'd reply, "Wow, what a great deal, Dad!" But instead she said, "Wow, that's expensive. You shouldn't have gone to the pharmacy at Ram. It would have been cheaper if you went to a non-hospital pharmacy." So the short answer here is super great prices for good medical care.

    • @WalkAboutWayne
      @WalkAboutWayne  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice one Randy! Ram is expensive (by Chiang Mai prices) still very cheap though. Your daughter is right, always get your own medication somewhere else. Ram will normally charge double the price, you can get it in a pharmacy. But $31 , still cheap right.

      @YuChiGongG ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I LOVE RAM Hospital. I always go there. Once, at 11PM, I suffered acute dental pain from pressure within a molar halfway through root-canal therapy. Excruciating with BP up to 200 over 120. Ram thought I would have a stroke or something. They gave me an intravenous injection of morphine and I spent an hour lazing around on a gurney waiting for my BP to come back down. The nurses are SOOOO Nice.. They charged me less than Bt1000 for the morphine and handholding. I had my RABIES injections there, too, and the injection nurse was always happy to see me. RAM is an AMAZING hospital. Probably staffed with mostly CMU grads, I would imagine. I will be returning soon to check out a growth on my back. It's ugly but probably not cancer. If I have cancer, I can't think of a nicer place to have it, though.

      I'm under the impression that there's a shortage of dentists in the UK from your remark. There's a shortage of family doctors in Canada. To see an internist in Canada, I had to wait 9 months. I was able to book an appointment to see a doctor on the same day, while I was in Athens, Greece. Doctor's fee in Athens was 30 Euro. Cheaper to receive healthcare services outside of Canada. Mike

    I have used the Dentist at Chiang Mai RAM Hospital over the past three years. On Tuesday I needed to have an old crown reset. They were unable to get me in that day but I received an appointment for Wednesday. I waited 5 minutes on the day of the appointment, I spent an hour in the chair having the crown reset and the cost was 1300 baht ($37). I had an implant put in 3 years ago and it cost me $1400, the price in the US would have been $7000. The implant was identical to the one which would have been used in the US.

    My first trip to Thailand twenty years ago was prompted by my need to have dental work done. Went to a dentist I discovered online based in Bangkok. They did bridge work that would have cost a fortune back in Oz. Haven't had any problems with it since. My go to place in Chiang Mai is Grace dental. Not as cheap as your guy Wayne but they do good work. Since then I've gone to a korean practice in D7 hcmc Vietnam. They charge around A460 for a check up and teeth clean and seem pretty professional. Had to have a tooth xrayed at another clinic in Saigon years earlier where the girl had no idea how to take the photo and repeated the process four or more times. Not impressed. Never returned.

    I had a wonderful experiance getting
    my teeth cleaned at airport mall.
    My appointment was for 1pm and at 12:55 I was in the chair
    and it was the dentist who cleaned my teeth,
    in the USA it is a dental assistant who does the work. Also
    they always say you need xrays first (in the states ) and I have only medical insurance
    not dental insurance so it seems like a money grab to me.
    So any way 20 min and $20 later I was out and 100 % satisfied

    This is what I like about you Wayne. You give us the tooth, the whole tooth and nothing but the tooth. No arshing around from you!
    Bit worried about your dentist dropping a couple of "white fillings" in your mouth... are you sure he was a dentist mate? 😅
    I had an impacted wisdom removed 4 years ago. I'd left it for so long it had demolished the molar so that had to come out too. It's weird sitting in the chair and hearing the sounds of them grabbing and pulling out pieces of tooth. I recommend grabbing a couple large KFC potato and gravies or similar for the days afterwoods to eat.
    Most of my dental treatments have been in BKK last 25 years. Great service and good prices. Nearly all the dentists I went to had post grad qualifications from Western universities.
    Had great service from private hospitals there and decent prices too. Private hospital rooms I've stayed in are better than average hotel rooms.

    Hi Wayne, are the crowns and implants the strong cubic zirconiums? I went to a Russian place in Florida and my crown lasted only a few years. I think it was made out of cheap Russian paper. ?😢and it was expensive. Stay away from Russian dentist.

      They do 3 or 4 different versions mate. All the info in on site. I'm sure they do the real cheap ones all the way to the top quality ones. I will remember to stay away from Russian dentist mate.

    • @WalkAboutWayne
      @WalkAboutWayne  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you'll be ok to exit and enter again buddy. If that's your first 45 day visa exempt. The rules are 2 border entries a year by land and no set rules by air. I think the first few by air would be ok, then they might start asking questions. I would go away for a few days or a week.

    Let those that live in the west, including Britain, sorry “Great” Britain, opinion-ate on this place as second rate! But we know it’s not. Medical treatment, no waiting lists. Buy a sofa, arrives the next day. Not wait 8 weeks. Plumbers, sparkies and Bobby dazzlers, arrive on the day. Again wait weeks in the west.

    What is the meaning of the GRAFFITI on the dentist's door? Is this from a satisfied customer? To become a dentist, one must have a sadistic streak. Personally, I love my female dentist. Going to the dentist and the barber are two of the rare chances I have to get close to members of the opposite sex, and I enjoy these experiences. On the downside, I feel sorry for dentists, in general, because, in a recent study, dentists were more than two-and-a-half times as likely to die by suicide as members of the general population. (I choose to go to dentists who teach at CMU.) Soon I will need two or three dental implants, which I would not mind. But the one who does the implants is a male dentist, unfortunately. In general, good Thai dentists are better than Taiwan dentists. Don't go to Taiwan for dental therapy if you can come to Chiang Mai, instead.
