    I had a wonderful experience at the Bangkok Dental Spa on Sukhumvit Soi 19. I think it's called the Wattana building. I had seven extractions, and four implants put in, all in about three hours. I didn't feel a thing. It's run by Dr. Lily Poncharoen (probably not the right spelling) and she does a great job. Highly recommended.

      Thanks Talladale, this is great info! I think my viewers will appreciate this. And great timing as I have an appointment with my implant dentist at Dental Image in Phaya Thai this afternoon. He's done two implants for me in the past, and it's likely that I'm going to have a few more. My problem is that my teeth have become quite brittle with age (I'm 77).
      But I have a question about your experience. You actually got the implants the same day? Can you tell me how that works? I have a total of four implants, and in each case there were three steps (1) getting an extraction and having the hole filled with bone-graft material, then waiting 4 - 6 months, (2) getting the metal implant inserted and then waiting 4 - 6 months for it to become rooted in the gum, and (3) getting the prosthetic (false tooth or crown) screwed or glued on to the metal implant. How did you manage to do this in one session? the info would be really appreciated... thanks... Bob

      @@robertsultan2550 Trying again! Dr. Lily had a surgeon come in who specialized in this work. He extracted seven teeth and then inserted four posts - I think he must have drilled into my upper jaw bone - where my four upper front teeth were, and fixed a temporary bridge on the posts. About a week later the laborotory had the permanent bridge ready and Dr. Lily fitted it in with a bonding cement. The bridge looks like my four front upper teeth and looks quite natural. If you should go into Dr. Lily tell her Peter Dalby says 'Hi', and that I''ll be there sometime in the not-too-distant future to finish up my dental work! Good luck with yours!

      Hi Talladale, I don't see it here and I usually get an email with the comment when someone makes a comment. So, I don't know what happened. And I really appreciate your answering because I've heard about people getting implants in one day, but my dentists have never suggested this. Could I ask you to post the reply again, but also email it to bob@robertsultan.com ? Thanks so much... Bob

      Yes, I find this true for both medicine and dentistry. In the US you have to wait weeks for an appointment. In Thailand (and Asia in general), you go to a clinic or a hospital and you get same day care. In public hospitals, you might have to wait a while, but someone will see you. I find that it's a much better system. The care is much cheaper than in the US, and I find that the standard of care is excellent. I go to a place called Dental Image, next to the Phayathai BTS station.

    What is the name of the cheaper dentist (European trained) that had good Google reviews?

      Hi Ryan, He is Dr. Vivek at Dental Image Clinic Phayathai, 34 Phaya Thai Rd, Thung Phaya Thai, Ratchathewi, Bangkok 10400, Thailand. +6623544458 www.dentalimageclinic.com/ He only works at this clinic two days a week. I think the rest of the time he works at an international clinic. The clinic is particularly easy to get to.because it is attached by a short ramp to the Phayathai BTS Station. I feel very confident recommending Dr. Vivek. If you use him, or another clinic in Thailand, let me know how it goes.....Bob

      @@simbiotik8480 Hi Ryan. He did one complete implant for me and put in a crown for an implant that I did in the States. I'm going back to him in a month for a follow-up x-ray on the implants. He did an excellent job. He also has a Thai TH-cam channel with 4K subscribers where he discusses consumer topics in dentistry.

    Do I need dental insurance to get dental work in Thailand?

    • @robertsultan2550
      @robertsultan2550  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kaia. You definitely don't need insurance. Just pay cash for the work. They will tell you the cost, up front, for all the work you need. I've had no problems with this. And the costs are definitely low relative the the US. Definitely consider it. ...Bob

    Can you get extended visa for medical tourism?

    • @robertsultan2550
      @robertsultan2550  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Searcher. You CAN get a 90-day MT medical tourism visa. You would need to supply:
      "6. Letter of hospital or Medical Facilities in Thailand indicating medical purpose and duration of treatment."
      It's hard to imagine that this would be worthwhile. It would be much easier to come for 75 days on a visa exemption (45 days plus 30 day extension) or 90 days on a Single-Entry Tourist Visa. I'd enter on the visa exemption if you come from a country where this is supported. Hope that helps! ...Bob
