    Zip ties are very useful! I’ve seen some race cars repaired with zip ties at the track just to keep racing!

    Been enjoying the vids. Do you thin your body filler? Any advice on that would be helpful!

    • @StoutCustom
      @StoutCustom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GreaseMonkeyTV Hey. Thanks for watching! I usually don’t thin my filler. I’ve seen people do it with lacquer thinner and there is also a product called “honey” I believe that is actually made for thinning body filler. I’ve used that a little in the past but that was years ago. Now if I want a better spreading product I buy a filler that spreads well instead of adding things that may have an adverse affect I’m not aware of. One thing I will do is stick with a line of products that is designed to be mixed together. Evercoat metalglaze putty which is thin and spreads easily can be mixed with their Rage Ultra to make it easier to spread. So bottom line is I follow the manufacturers technical sheet for thinning options. Hope this helps and good luck on your projects!

      @@StoutCustom Thanks so much for the reply! I've been using 3M on this project and it's not spreading well. I was never a body man... Uploading my square body build videos right now.

    For the underside of hood where it was attached to the stand, how do you go about touching up areas that paint couldn’t get to?

    • @StoutCustom
      @StoutCustom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where the stand makes contact is a very small area as there are opposing hooks that catch the side of a brace or hole. So most of the time it’s left as is. Especially if there is a hood pad covering up the inside. On the ones that are exposed and need to look good, the area is spotted in once the hood is on the vehicle or the inside is painted first, allowed to dry, then the hood is flipped over and the outside is painted next. Thanks for watching!

      After I painted my frame with epoxy primer... I painted it PPG single stage gloss black...
      The primer and the gloss black is chipping and coming off really easy...
      What did I do wrong ?
      It was all sanded to bare metal...

    • @StoutCustom
      @StoutCustom  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brett Johnson What epoxy did you use and what did you sand the frame with to get it to bare metal?

    • @brettjohnson3116
      @brettjohnson3116 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StoutCustom I used PPG epoxy primer... I sanded with 80 grit.
