Born into a paint and body family many moons ago. Escaped for a brief period to become a helicopter mechanic/beer drinker in the United States Army. Eventually drawn back into the game by shiny paint jobs and beer money. Definitely a DIY guy since I have the knowledge and skill but no dinero. Just trying to share some of what I do to help others and also because my daughter laughed when I said I was going to start a TH-cam channel.
Hope you folks enjoy this channel and will subscribe to see what happens next.

2015 Silverado 2500 HD 6.0 Service Trailer Brake Problem/Solution
I've had an intermittent Service Trailer Brake System warning for years. Lately it was almost constant. I unplugged the dash control switch to keep it from annoying me until I could replace the trailer brake control module. Its located under the spare tire and is pretty easy to access and replace. Here is a quick video of the process. Replacing the module fixed my issue but there are other system problems that can cause the same warning. So far mine works as it should.

Project Show Truck Spotted!

I finally ran into Mr. Jody Reed and the C10 Show Truck Project that is on this channel. He has been showing the truck since about the middle of last year and I caught up to him at the Grounded Truck Gathering in Cumming, Ga. The truck is outstanding! Be sure to check it out if you happen to run across it at a show somewhere. Music Credit: Get Back in the Game by Clandestyne, Sneak Out and Brea...

Im wanting to paint my.chrome bumpers a matte black. Ill take it off my truck and do it in my garage. Rattle can. I dont need a professional finish but i want it to look as good as i can get it. What products would you recommend as far as primer/epoxy. And paint
@@jonathanritter7364 using rattle can off the shelf products aren’t going to last but it can be done. There may be a direct to metal matte black paint or start with etch primer followed by matte black paint. SEM products are good. Thanks for watching and good luck on your project!
Why not seam seal after painting then paint seam sealer seems to me without any protection under it would rust
@@jameschuke4104 once the seam is blasted to get out any old seam sealer, paint, and rust, it is sprayed with epoxy. The epoxy provides the corrosion protection and adhesion to bare metal. Seam sealer can be applied at any point after this. Some seam sealers can be applied directly to bare metal and provide adequate corrosion protection themselves but I prefer over epoxy. The epoxy provides adequate corrosion protection without going all the way to the final paint layer so the seam sealer should be before final paint

@@adolfotrujillo9658 if you are talking about a switch to keep someone from stealing the truck there are several places that you can do that but you probably need a local shop to do it. Howdy. Im curious why you paint some trucks with doors and fenders on but others you paint in pieces. Thanks. Great videos
@@mitchelldickens9702 I prefer to paint things apart if possible. However on this truck I wanted to paint the jambs with single stage and the outside with base/clear. There is also the added dimension of two toning. Two tones can be painted apart but require more measuring and a little guesswork so lining up the two tone lines is of course easier if it’s together. Color has to be factored in to the equation as well. Some colors are easy to match when the pieces are painted apart while others such as tri-coats have greater risk of not matching if painted apart. If it’s an easy color, not two tone, and it’s all getting sprayed with the same paint system then there is less masking and zero tape lines if painted apart. Simply put it together and you’re done. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I do it 4 times a day at least and been doing it for 15 years. After each break and when I come back from lunch. I throw the helmet down and slam my peddle and nothing lol.. and not to mention hitting my foot peddle with my grinder or drill in my hand like my peddle is making them work😅

Love your videos. In this case I was hoping to see how you lined everything up again as you assembled the bed. I watched the alignment prior to teardown but then putting it back together would be a chore since you had to cut welds apart, etc. Maybe it's still coming. Thanks for showing us the right way to do this.
@@vernSwanson So I looked back to see if I had any vids on final assembly and alignment. This vid was all I had. I didn’t weld the bedsides to the rear sill like they were originally. There seemed to be plenty of bolts to hold it and if I ever needed to re align things I could. I fit the tailgate and adjusted the bedsides to the gap I wanted and tightened them up. Was fairly simple but I wished I had filmed it. Thanks for watching!

@@davidwellman7080 if things are catching fire, you need to take it to a shop and get some help. I tied my turn signals for my new dash into the wrong spot and had the same thing happen. The signals would light up when I hit the brakes. I think I had to tie into the brake wires after they had passed through all the relays n such to fix it. Otherwise it would feed a ground through the system for the brake wires. Anyway, get a skilled person to look at it before the whole truck burns to the ground. Good luck and thanks for watching!
