This comeback is quintessential Red Velvet and I’m surprised that some people are calling this comeback “weird” when weird is RV’s entire brand!! I personally love this comeback and it’s honestly been a minute since we had a truly weird comeback (since Zimzalabim era)
THANK you, I've seen some reactors post in their title that this is "not good" and/or "weird" and I keep wondering, weird is what Red Velvet does...if you don't like it, fine but either you get them or you don't. And I'm saying this as a NEW Reveluv, even I get it!

I don’t mind if people don’t like the song but when some people (mostly non Revluvs or casual stans) say Birthday is not like Red Velvet’s “usual” songs it really erks me because Red Velvet are known to have songs with weird themes. Dumb Dumb, Rookie, Power Up, Zimzalabim, and those are just title tracks alone.
omgg yes atp it doesn’t even necessarily sound “weird” it just sounds like “red velvet”like the production, the sounds, instrumentals and vocals always having these “clashing” or experimental sounds with lush beautiful vocals is really just THEM

Yes! I'm so glad you are checking more Red Velvet out! And you're correct. This whole song and video really has taken the girls back to their roots. This is so reminiscent of early Red Velvet. Reactor Fifizappa said it best in her Birthday album listen, she said if you love NCT and their quote "Noise Sound" or Dream and their "youthful sound" Red Velvet were like some of the originators of those sounds for SM. Both groups are so experimental with their sound and the VOCALS. Come on now. NCT and Red Velvet are my ults so I'm so happy you are enjoying both groups. Of course take your time and react at your own pace! And enjoy stuff on your own too! At the end of the day the music matters and that's it.

You shouldn’t let other’s opinions affect your enjoyment of the songs! Especially so when it comes to RV since people will always have something to say. As long as you enjoy it, that’s always the only thing that matters (coming from someone who was there when they released OOTN, Rookie, RBB and Zimzalabim lol)

Some reactors says its clashing, but i would say that this song is design only those who understand SM song, those who understand RED VELVET song and concept. Overall i like this song so much. And only SM artist can pulled it off very well. It only show how SM artist are flexible not label as artist but a versatile artist.

Girl I heard this song for the first time during a RV concert (im just a casual fan, I was accompanying my partner) and I swear to God THE CHORUS HITS DIFFERENT WHEN ITS LIVE.
rv's title track is sometimes a hit or a miss, but you will still find yourself singing along to it. their bsides tho, never disappoints.
In all honesty, you have become my favorite reactor for RV, you appreciate their art, because let's face it, they do art. I love how you enjoy it, weird and all. Because that's Red Velvet, they're different and they are not for everybody, that's fine, we know it and we actually like that. I always have the best time watching your reactions to them. Like they have many times before, RV give me Alice in Wonderland vibes here so much! I love the quirky, surreal and witty style.
I will admit that it takes a few listens to grow on me (I'm looking at you, Zimzalabim) but it sounds better and better with every listen! This is just Red Velvet's style, you either love LOVE them or you walk out on them and regret the stuff you'll miss from them 😚 also the b-sides in this album are *chef's kiss*, every track worthy of TT istg. i’m not a fan of red velvet but i liked the song. it’s camp, quirky, and the vocals were on point. it reminds me of Ice Cream Cake and the chorus is catchy too.
