i wouldn't say Wendy and Seulgi have similar voices.. you can easily differentiate - Seulgi has a very unique vibrato technique. but i agree Joy is an underrated vocalist and she absolutely killed it in this album. HOWEVER, Wendy once again has just proved that she is one of the best vocalists. she just stands out every time she sings
Honestly, this b-sides are FULL ALBUM material.

Red velvet does not miss!!! I love every single song of theirs. They have everything, vocals, rap, soul, everything!! Loved this album so much! amazing! On a ride is probably my fav but not stop stream album for sure!

FACTS
Yay! It's here!!! 🤗 I was looking forward to this hehe! I can't pick a favorite since they are all too good 😌 For the album name, the members pronounce "ReVe" as "Reeve". It's known as a never ending festival and seems to parallel the 2019 festival so this might be another trilogy (just a guess though). Also, about the comment of WenSeul having similar tones, it's understandable since according to both Wendy and Seulgi, their fathers confused their voices too (while their mother's can distinctly recognize them lol 🤣). They said this during the bts recording of 'Best Friend'. Joy (she did get all the bridges and started most of them) definitely deserves better recognition as a vocalist, but in Korea, she is known as a 'Tone Fairy' so I guess you could say that she is somewhat recognized... But this just shows how proficient Red Velvet are as vocalists/singers. They are just TOO good.
I watched this over on Patreon, but I had to come over here and give you some love and appreciation for sharing this here, too - and also to just say again how much I LOVE this mini album. I'm not sure if it's my #1 Red Velvet album but......... it might be. Top 3 at LEAST!
I got so many other things to say:
- Yeri is really stepping up this era she is beginning to rack up so many hard hitting verses
- Irene thanked Joy for putting in so much work behind the studio and it is showing; her civil engineering degree is putting in work!!
- zoom feels like if you created a baby with attaboy and something like growl by exo
- with this entire ep, every instrumental was so interesting and gives red velvet roots all over
- no single member shined all the way through and it felt like a group effort since everyone got their turn
- I just know if you made comparisons: bye bye (destiny’s child), ride (build a bitch), zoom (attaboy/growl), celebrate (Mariah Carey)
- no you aren’t crazy; this is why Wendy and Seulgi are besties because they are on the same page always vocally while Irene and Seulgi are on the same page every other time lmfao
- Irene said if they could promote any b side it’d be celebrate because she loves these kinds of slow jams like candy and moonlight melody
- Wendy and Joy have such phenomenal chemistry and teamwork because they complete each other; Wendy has the technique to carry the main parts but Joy has the interesting tone and timbre to make the song memorable and addictive
This is why to me birthday ep is so solid… even with the title track while not the instant love like psycho and Bad boy, it has this feel that tells me that yes They are still the same RV we got to know since 2014 💗💛💙💚💜I love best group alive for always being themselves Omgggg I’m so excited to see their behind the studio

Good question! Mostly Seulgi and Joy would get pre-chorus or bridge part if Wendy needs to do adlibs or full power part after that, it's a fixed assignment, but for the main chorus, mostly it's Irene-Joy-Seulgi. Wendy has very wide range. She has many voices in her, her voice is similar to Irene's and Seulgi's in some keys (which even in the clips you guys used, they made mistakes switching the line among them) but Joy's voice is very unique. Wendy has a special sweet head voice while Joy's fresh and sweet voice is from her natural voice.
Joy is so underrated

I’ve never heard of any group recording 100+ songs without a miss. Everyone can find something that hits the right nerve in their discography. Kind of like Sassy did for you guys. Carpool does for me, it instantly bring my mood up.

During a fansign today Red Velvet told the fans that they will be a having a Concert on the first quarter on next year and hopefully it’s a world tour. They were allowed to spoil since in 3 weeks by the end of the year SM will announce it and as from the girls it’s the biggest they will have in Korea. (another spoiler so maybe announcing a world tour)
plus they are so busy that there will be no variety shows or b side promotion for this album just music show stages
YASSSS NO ONE COMES CLOSE TO RED VELVET'S VELVET SIDE... AND JUST AS YOU MENTIONED on the last part, RV SAID THEY'LL BE HAVING A CONCERT SOON!!!!!

Red Velvet without Joy and Yeri will be just like any other normal groups with good singers. Those two are what makes the difference and created the "Red Velvet's sound", especially in each of their choruses, that's why the vocals of the two of them are always placed more dominantly in each chorus than the other 3 members, for Joy, maybe you can find a bit of a tone resemblance and her character in Jiu (Dreamcatcher), but for Yeri, she's the only one with that kind of tone and character in the entire K-Pop industry, the decision to put her in the group was like hitting the jackpot, she's the amulet of Red Velvet.
