Al is not only a excellent musican. But also a nice person. Dayton, Ohio - he played Gilly's Night Club. I waited for him in lobby of hotel. I recognized him, black Avator glasses, black jacket, pants and boots. He asked if I knew where the club was that he was playing. I escorted him across the street. He said, "just stick with me". I attended sound check...show was outstanding 👌. I - ear - toe, was on percussion.

It's taken me an eternity to really get Al di Meola. Have had the Elegant Gypsy disc for more than a decade, but only purchased it on recommendation. Have Kiss My Axe and World Symphonia for more than 2 decades. Found the music "okay" with Gypsy a bit out of reach, but lately I've put my finger on just what has kept me from really loving Al's music. I think it has to do with the radical transitions that are so common within every piece of music he does. I'm a longtime Chick Corea fan, an artist whose music could never be considered predictable, but to me Al's transitions were often too over-the-top. I don't know precisely what has changed with my own perception, but guess it must be down to age. Those same "over-the-top" variations which used to irk me most back then, are now strangely what I enjoy most. Really slow developer. but just happy to have finally arrived. Elegant Gypsy has become a start-to-end rapure for me. Even though I didn't always get it, I still have always considered Al a genius, just through his technical brilliance. But I now peceive his level of genius a few notches higher....

I was at this concert ,he was awesome ,he brought back the Gibson Les Paul Guitar, he gave a signing the previous time he performed at the Toronto City hall,I got his autograph and spoke to him, real nice gentleman.I Iistened to Aldi Meola since my High School days,My favorite albums where Elegant Gypsy and his live album in 1982,simply masterpieces,I'm 63 years old and I cant wait until he comes to town. I also so him with Return to Forever in 2006 with,Stanley Clarke,Chic Corea, and Lenny White, awesome.

I remember when this song came out from the Elegant Gypsy album, and many guitar players revered it because of Al's amazing technique. But many critics complained that Al was playing too many notes and "showing off speed." I suppose that's why on this live version in 2015 his runs are considerably slower.

I'm noticing the "FUCHS" head facing forward and the cab facing backward. That must eliminate a bit of stage sound from the cab mic/mics. Is that the reason? Is it clearer? Any sound guys out there have an opinion on that stage setup? And should we guitarists be following this example?

A decent rendition, however, I do wish that Di Meola could have arranged for Jan Hammer playing a '70s era analog Mini Moog synth to join him onstage. Trading solos with digital electric piano doesn't sound appropriate in my estimation.
