I live in an over 100 yr old house and it has lots of "quirks," to put it mildly. I make long curtains out of twin bed sheets that cost around $3, but I like the idea of using pillowcases for shorter windows. :)

Great ideas, though you should iron the cloth first-it will lay straighter. Best of all will be laundering; just add to bed linen wash. For windows that get colder in winter, use flannel pillowcases! Thanks for the video!

Lisa Halladay that is so true. When I was growing up my dad always had pickup trucks. He would put what they call toppers now I guess but, we called them campers. Anyway, my dad made curtains to cover the Windows. He did this for years.

  • @unicorn67mom

I have done this before on a budget. Also, you sometimes can find matching set of King sized top sheet and pillow cases at thrift store or goodwill real inexpensive. Cut the top sheet in half and use as fabric shower curtains. Cut the top seam of the sheet the same way you did the pillow cases , run them through a tension rod, and you will have matching curtains and fabric shower curtain. I like to use the $1 tension rods for the shower curtain and then another tension rod behind it with clear or coordinating plastic curtain. A friend of mine found a pack of grommets at the craft store and used them on her shower curtain instead. It looks great and the hooks fit just like the store bought shower curtains. So many ideas from this video. Thanks.

Right on girl ! Anytime you can save $, and make something pretty and functional, that's using common sense ! Curtains & drapes cost a fortune, and it's just not always in your budget! Many communities have church free stores, and you can often get very nice pillowcases, sheets, scarves, etc... Just wash and you can repurpose them in a multitude of ways! Great Idea !!! 🙂🙂🙂

  • @TippyMueller

Yes. Yes. Yes. Using pillow cases for an inexpensive spread of fabric for curtains. I love it. I do sew, but using these quick "no sew" techniques with store bought bedding is such an inovative way to get a lot of fabric for home decorating. When we needed a quick covering on our windows I took some white towels I had on hand. I folded over the edge and put in curtain hooks at the fold to get the right length. The double terry fabric at the top added just the right body. Thankfully the hardware was already there. The towels look so beachy and let in light but are not see through. I ended up keeping them instead of putting up a regular store bought curtain. For closet curtains I did the same thing with a blanket or bedspread. Simply fold over the top to get the right length and put in the curtain hooks on the back a little below the fold. If I ever wanted to change things out, I still could just take out the hooks on the towels, blanket or bedspread and use them for towels, blanket or bedding again. Like you say Ella, choosing this method also makes it so easy to color coordinate with the rest of your room. You rock. Thanks for making the effort to get your ideas out there, too. I trust with your creative way of thinking, you'll find ways to improve your video qualilty as you go along.

Wow, what an imagination to come up with that. Hon that's awesome. Their ain't nothing better then the poor man's meals and their genius ways of doing things. Because many really do have to. You are awesome hon. Thank you for showing this. I'm gonna try this for my kitchen window. What's so great about it too, is that its double layered material and it darkens and insulates the window even more. For a bed room that would darken the room if needed. How really really cool. Thanks

When I can't get a screw started, I use a nail that's a bit smaller than the screw and hammer it in and pull it back out and then the screw is so much easier to get started. I will usually use a molly and hammer that into the nail hole and then put the screw in so it's sturdy. I love what you did with this window treatment! What a fantastic idea! I'm feeling creative after watching this! Thanks Ella!
