Thanks, HP, for not including the specific USB cable or even letting us know we need to pick up one separately while we are still at the store. Thanks a lot.

Thank God for TH-cam !! I was getting ready to get upset !! But I'm rolling now ya'll. :) Only problem I "would have" had was purchasing a USB Cable. I knew nothing about that until I read the reviews. Be sure you include that in your advertisement. Everyone is not tech savy. I would have thought all the parts were with the printer.
This is the best printer for the price! I do wish it came with the USB that plugs into your computer... I really think that will turn a lot of people off, making them avoid/regret purchasing the printer. I know I would have if I didn't have a spare.
How do u even connect the computer without a wire? For a windows 8. I know there is a flyer but when I'm at my apps I don't see my the printer name. Need help.

Why would you sell a product, excluding the only thing that's going to make it work??! Yeah, i can turn it on, but how is that going to help me print?
i bought this type of printer yesterday. before it unpacked i watched this video and it was a great help.. then i checked some comments and i noticed some people have mentioned about matter with power cable and data cable. but in my case there was not an issue with those cable. everything was there perfectly.. i did hardware setup and software setup correctly. then i print some MS Word border but before that i had to align printer and i did it correctly.. it was fine.. printing quality also fine.. this is the best printer for cheap price... but the matter is it's not printed bottom area correctly :(

Hi shellybutt, This printer does not support wirelessly connectivity so a printer style USB cable is required. If you search for C03742903 on HP’s home page or using Google search. If you are unsure what the printer style looks like please search for part number V7N2USB2AB-06F on HP’s home page or using Google search. It will let you see the two different ends.

I have googled and googled and just cant find a way to to print and desperately need to print out a.s.a.p. Can anyone help please??? Thanks

Julie Makin According to the Product Specifications for the Deskjet 1010 "c03742903", the only way to connect the printer is by using a USB cable to a Macintosh or PC device.

Hi Abdul, thanks for contacting HP! I understand that you need to know the name of the part where the print comes out. I will do my best to assist you. It is called Output tray. Binu - HP Social Media Tech Support
I like this printer, its affordable, simple and easy to use, its just too bad you cant use 2 black cartridges together. I only print b/w text and having the color is a waste for me, even though when i use up all the black ink, im sure the color cartridge will take over to produce only black till that runs out.
OK, I have read all the comments, and researched on the Internet, and here is my take on this machine. It is cheap. The price should indicate that to you. You get what you pay for, so don't expect too much for something that costs the same as 100 photocopies at the local shop. I didn't expect Wi-Fi, and if you read up on it first, you know it's not there. If shops choose to mis-label shelf stickers, then it's up to you to look carefully before buying. It is very annoying that there is no cable included with this printer. It doesn't say anywhere that no cable is in the box. This is something that HP need to address, as not everyone has a spare compatible cable lying around. Fortunately, I did, but that's no excuse for HP to neglect customers with this blatant omission. The printer is cheaply made too. Flimsy plastics mean that you have to take extra care with it, and it is very noisy in operation, so couldn't possibly be used where noise is an issue. Setup does work easily, if you follow the instructions, load the software, and ensure that you set it as default printer in your computer's menu. And it does work, which is the main thing, after all. I don't expect it to produce amazing photos at this price. However, it delivers crisp B+W documents, and renders colour acceptably well. I have just printed a 50-page camera manual from the Internet. It was mostly B+W text, with some colour pages, and lots of reproduced photos of camera parts. It did this with no issues, other than a lot of noise, using cheap supermarket paper. I also printed a colour web page, and that worked well too, although drop-down menus were not recognised. These tasks used approximately 50% of the black ink cartridge, and 10% of the colour cartridge. If you are going to do a lot of printing, you will need a machine with larger print cartridges, that's for sure. If you want to mainly print photos, get a different printer, from the hundreds available out there. But for everyday basic home printing, at a bottom of the range price, this 1010 machine is more than acceptable. I have no connection with HP. In fact, my previous, and much more expensive HP printer/scanner/copier was awful, and never worked properly. Don't expect too much, and you won't be disappointed, as most of you obviously are. Regards from England. Pete.
How do I know if there is something wrong with my cable? I checked everything and it was fine but when I tried to print something, it won't print even if the printer is listed.
diamenix wango To better help you, would you please provide some additional information? • Do you have the Deskjet 1010 as shown in the video? • Did you install the full feature software and driver onto your computer? • What operating system are you using on your computer? • Are you getting any error messages? If yes, what does the error message say? Thank you and regards.
Hi I bought 1010 and it's not working on my mac. It's always showing online but cant print anything from anywhere. I installed from the CD and online as well... Nothing seems to work... My Canon just retired and thought I'd give HP a go. Please advise.
Hi noooddle, At the 6:00 mark of the video it shows you where the graphic is as to which cartridge gets inserted into which slot. If you are unable to use the graphic inside the printer please search for C03731263 on HP's home page or using Google search. It is a document on how to replace the cartridges for your printer and Figure 2 clearly shows which cartridge goes into which cartridge slot.

Hello Hp.. i got problem some problem regarding to my HP deskjet 1010.. whenever i print a text it always print missing lines sometimes texts is in half pls help
Francis Jun You can go to your printer's software and to the Maintain Your Printer toolbox and click Clean In Cartridges on the Device Services tab. You may have to do it a few times, but it should clear up your printing issue.
Donnie James You can print from a Chromebook to a Deskjet 1010 by enabling Google cloud print. To do this, you will need to have the printer connected to a PC or a Mac computer. For more information on this topic, please take a look at this document on how to Connect your printer to Google Cloud Print: support.google.com/chrome/answer/1069693?hl=en

Divine Faith are you trying to choose different picture sizes in the same document? Are you popping from picture to picture trying to print individually? If you could be a bit more specific so I understand your exact issue please.
i had a project to do in which i had to print multiple pictures, like about 10 pictures. So i selected all those picture, right clicked on them and clicked "print". But i did not get any option of what size i can print a picture, and the picture takes the whole paper to get printed. I mean to say is that, if i have a picture of 4 cities, and i want all of them to get printed on one page but each city was getting printed in one page and so 4 cities got printed in 4 pages. So why am i not getting option of what size i can take to print a picture
***** Ahh okay I understand what you are looking to do. The problem is that printers are not really that smart they rely on the computer to tell them what to do. In this case you are selecting even if all at once individual documents and telling the computer to print. What you need to do is take the documents and import them into a single document laid out the way you want and than print. I hope this answers your questions.
Hello tyler hubbard, If you search for C03805635 on HP’s home page or using Google search, you will find the User Guide for your printer. On page 6 it has a page dedicated to the Auto-Off feature. I would suggest that you disable the Auto-Off feature completely.

shame the printer didn't come with its own cable and doesn't seem to recognise my usb cable - result hours of headaches trying to fix it and STILL a printer that isn' working.
chrissie cannon To better assist you, I will need to know if you are using a Windows or a Macintosh computer; and if your printer is able to be recognized when connected (using the USB cable you have) to another computer.
I have done all these and I bought the USB cable, I conected the printer to my computer but when I give order to print the printer dont print LOL Holy Moly...Something is wrong!!! Yikes.
Why the hell will you not put a USB cable inside? It's very frustrating to buy a product and when you get home to see you cannot use it. I would have paid more just for the cable to be in. This is my first experience with HP and the last one.
Stylish Praneeth This model of printer can print black and white as well as color from the computer, depending on the specific presets you have configured. For more information on this printer, I recommend taking a look at the Product Specifications, which can be found by Google searching "c03742903".
I have a HP deskjet 1010 printer. It's the most frustrating piece of garbage that I have ever owned. I repair computers, and I cannot get this thing to work!! I've been using computers and repairing them for 15+ years now. Anyway, when I install this printer, it looks like everything is fine. I even can print an alignment page. When I go to print anything, it never prints. The item shows up for a few seconds in the activity for the printer, and then, as if it has printed, it disappears. The printer is installed correctly, the power is on, its plugged in, the USB cable is plugged in, etc. I have tried to print images, text files, web pages, pdf files, etc. Nothing will print BUT the alignment page. I have tried a different usb cable, still only the alignment page will print. The ink is new. What the heck should I do? Throw out the hp and buy a canon?
+TheRealMrsMVP It sounds like the printer spooler on your computer needs some attention. You didn't mention which operating system you are using on your computer, so I'm presuming that you are using Windows 7/8/10. Please search for C03286146 on HP’s home page or using Google search. The title of the document is “HP Printers - Using Print and Scan Doctor for Windows to Help Resolve Printer Issues”. It will walk you through downloading the utility and running the Fix Printing portion of the utility. You can also search here on TH-cam for ‘HP Print and Scan Doctor’ for any HP videos.
+HP Printer Support I will look at that. I'm sorry for my aggressive tone, it's just that my frustration level is through the roof. I have Windows 8.1. I'm almost certain I tried that link, but I will do it again. I have even refreshed Windows, to see if that worked, but it did not. I will let you know what happens. Thanks for the reply. :)
+HP Printer Support Thank you for the link and what not. It didn't work. :( Is it possible at all, that when I plugged the printer in for the first time, before installing the software, that I messed up, and now the printer wants to be a jerk? It still doesn't explain why I was able to print a test page and nothing else. Now, it won't even do that. :(

I purchased this from Walmart, now that I'm home and have read over some comments I see that this printer is not wireless capable, however the advertisement slip in Walmart located on the shelf, under the printer, with the printer brand HP and logo on it, with model number also on it, states that it is wireless. A huge inconvenience for me and a waste of my time. Don't do false advertisement. And this is HP to blame, not Walmart
I brought this for $30 and it doesn't come with a USB cable????????????? why??????? Your lucky I found one at home or I will return this... Mad customer awwww
waited a week for printer to arrive. Badly need to use today. No usb cable, and my old hp printer usb cable won't work. I sure wish I would have come here first. Returning first thing tomorrow and will never purchase another HP product again. I feel ripped off and never again.
Oh and HP. Looks like a ton of people all around the world are having the same problem! Seems like there are problems with the printer itself. Some say you need to format some stuff.... But not all of us are techies. Did I make a mistake in purchasing this?
Mohammed Rahman I assume it is to fit the need in the market that is was meant to fill. There are plenty of other wireless printers that HP has if wireless is a necessity for you.
It may say it on the shopping page, but you don't address my point. The set up information should tell you that you need a cable and, also; what type of cable you need. And the set up video should mention it as well. I used to work for HP and the HP I worked for would never omit something like this. They would not skirt around the point either. By the way, I did not experience any inconvenience. Those are your words, not mine. I just wanted to point out that the information is lacking in the instructions.
This printer does not come with the USB Printer connector cable. If you bought this printer at Walmart be aware they only carry 2 different ones in the store a 6' for $15 and a 10' foe $20. You should not buy this printer just go the the next one in price which is a Cannon that is wireless. Its only $10 more than the HP without the cable. I am going to return everything that I just purchased. I seriously doubt HP will offer me anything to compensate for the cost of the cable. It would have been very helpful if that was stated on the box. I think they left one letter out of their name it should be HPS Huge Piece of Sh*t.
watched this video just to see if mine should have had a usb cord, bummer bro. ink is so expensive i just buy new printers instead of getting new ink carts. guess i have to go find a damn usb cord in the printer graveyard in my closet.
my complaint is that i make 8.50$ a hour and bought a 40$ printer and it didn't come with a 50 cent cord so i have to spend 5$ in gas it go back to wal mart and buy one.
The fact that you don't include a USB cable is a joke and the fact that you don't notify this on the box is also a joke. I always thought HP was a reputable company. Gone down in my estimation.
I don't get what the big deal is… Just buy a USB cable. It's literally like five dollars. You don't need to post your rants in the comments section when you could actually be productive and go and buy a USB yourself.
Hello WiQuiTiKi, I saw you other post in the comments section indicating that neither document helped to resolve the issue. The last solution in each document is to have the printer serviced. Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region please go to Google search and enter 'contact HP worldwide'. Your first option should be the site for contacting HP, when you click on it you will be prompted to choose your country/region.
USB is not included, and this is not specified in the box. Had a college, my mom bought this printer, set it up, and what a surprise, no USB. Cant do my homework now, giving this back asap. I'm so dissapointed.

I have googled and googled and just cant find a way to to print and desperately need to print out a.s.a.p. Can anyone help please??? Thanks
louise cochrane Could you post what operating system you are running on your computer and any information to help understand what you are facing? Error messages, where is stops, what is happening? Any information that you can provide would be helpful.
Will this work with my galaxy tab, or do I need to buy extras to make it work?
Julie Makin According to the Product Specifications for the Deskjet 1010 "c03742903", the only way to connect the printer is by using a USB cable to a Macintosh or PC device.
Thank you x
Julie Makin You're welcome!

Hi Abdul, thanks for contacting HP!
I understand that you need to know the name of the part where the print comes out.
I will do my best to assist you.
It is called Output tray.

To better help you, would you please provide some additional information?
• Do you have the Deskjet 1010 as shown in the video?
• Did you install the full feature software and driver onto your computer?
• What operating system are you using on your computer?
• Are you getting any error messages? If yes, what does the error message say?
Thank you and regards.
Mast!
Hi I bought 1010 and it's not working on my mac. It's always showing online but cant print anything from anywhere. I installed from the CD and online as well... Nothing seems to work... My Canon just retired and thought I'd give HP a go. Please advise.
Thanatos Anima what version of Mac are you running on your computer?
thats ok. got a canon :)
There are two places to put in ink cartridges. You can't clearly mark which is color and which is black? Really?
Hi noooddle,
At the 6:00 mark of the video it shows you where the graphic is as to which cartridge gets inserted into which slot. If you are unable to use the graphic inside the printer please search for C03731263 on HP's home page or using Google search. It is a document on how to replace the cartridges for your printer and Figure 2 clearly shows which cartridge goes into which cartridge slot.
Thank you.. Info :)
M Sil You are very welcome!

Francis Jun You can go to your printer's software and to the Maintain Your Printer toolbox and click Clean In Cartridges on the Device Services tab. You may have to do it a few times, but it should clear up your printing issue.
does it work with HPchromebook and how do you make it work !!!!????
Donnie James You can print from a Chromebook to a Deskjet 1010 by enabling Google cloud print. To do this, you will need to have the printer connected to a PC or a Mac computer. For more information on this topic, please take a look at this document on how to Connect your printer to Google Cloud Print:

Hello charuka sandaruwan,
You didn’t mention what operating system you are using so I have included all the document numbers. Please search for the document number you need on HP’s home page or using Google search. Once you have the document please follow the steps to get your printer installed. For example if you are running Windows XP you would search for C03521643.
C03521643 - Installing the Printer Software in Windows XP for a USB Cable Connection
C03521717 - Installing the Printer Software in Windows Vista for a USB Cable Connection
C03521864 - Installing the Printer Software in Windows 7 for a USB Cable Connection
C03460787 - Installing the Printer Software in Windows 8 for a USB Cable Connection
C03606993 - Install the Printer Software in Windows RT or Windows 8 on a Tablet
C02030505 - Installing the Printer Software in Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard for a USB Connection
C03045596 - Installing the Printer Software in Mac OS X v10.7 Lion for a USB Connection
C03381936 - Installing the Printer Software in Mac OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion for a USB Connection
C03966737 - Installing the Printer Software in Mac OS X v10.9 Mavericks for a USB Connection
The .net framework is part of Microsoft so I would recommend contacting them to ensure you get the most complete and accurate information.
i have a big problem with this printer. When i try to print multiple files, i dont get any options of choosing how big or small picture i want

Ahh okay I understand what you are looking to do. The problem is that printers are not really that smart they rely on the computer to tell them what to do. In this case you are selecting even if all at once individual documents and telling the computer to print. What you need to do is take the documents and import them into a single document laid out the way you want and than print. I hope this answers your questions.
Hi. I have actually returned the printer as it is not compatible with my chrome book. Good luck
what is the website
mine keeps turning off, I did disable the 2 hour setting but it still turns off by itself....
Hello tyler hubbard,
If you search for C03805635 on HP’s home page or using Google search, you will find the User Guide for your printer. On page 6 it has a page dedicated to the Auto-Off feature. I would suggest that you disable the Auto-Off feature completely.
is this compatible with Windows 7??

No USB cable. WTF?
How the *&%$# do you set it up for wireless?
Mine still says " error " why??? Plzzzz help
Ditto Jay me now I got to search for a cord..!!
Just bought this a few hours ago, and you guessed it, no usb cable -_-
can we xerox files using this
Stylish Praneeth When you refer to Xeroxing files, are you talking about scanning, faxing, or something else?
shame the printer didn't come with its own cable and doesn't seem to recognise my usb cable - result hours of headaches trying to fix it and STILL a printer that isn' working.
chrissie cannon To better assist you, I will need to know if you are using a Windows or a Macintosh computer; and if your printer is able to be recognized when connected (using the USB cable you have) to another computer.
This is my first experience with HP and the last one.
yes i am asking about that only
Stylish Praneeth This printer is not able to copy, scan or fax since it is a single-function unit.
is this prints black and white copies
Stylish Praneeth This model of printer can print black and white as well as color from the computer, depending on the specific presets you have configured. For more information on this printer, I recommend taking a look at the Product Specifications, which can be found by Google searching "c03742903".
Ok thank you
Stylish Praneeth You're welcome!
Where is my usb cable?
I don't have wire
+Riyaz Siddiqui You can purchase the USB cable for your printer from here: bit.ly/2NzfADs
+TheRealMrsMVP Please let me know how things turn out.
+TheRealMrsMVP Since things are going from bad to worse for you, I'd recommend calling our Technical Support Group at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region please go to Google search and enter 'contact HP worldwide'. Your first option should be the site for contacting HP, when you click on it you will be prompted to choose your country/region.
Great, the box was sealed and looks like no power cord, no ink, and no USB cable. Instant return and I'm buying ANOTHER BRAND.
Why isnn't the printer wireless!!
FAIL NO USB CABEL
absolutely did not come with usb cable, don't know how they stay in business.no more hp crap for me
I have to buy a usb cable?this is a joke.
watched this video just to see if mine should have had a usb cord, bummer bro. ink is so expensive i just buy new printers instead of getting new ink carts. guess i have to go find a damn usb cord in the printer graveyard in my closet.
my complaint is that i make 8.50$ a hour and bought a 40$ printer and it didn't come with a 50 cent cord so i have to spend 5$ in gas it go back to wal mart and buy one.
USA #1
The fact that you don't include a USB cable is a joke and the fact that you don't notify this on the box is also a joke. I always thought HP was a reputable company. Gone down in my estimation.
No USB cable? What's wrong with you HP? Wanna push your profit as hard as you can?
+Ferry T No the cable is not included, please purchase USB cable separately
I don't get what the big deal is… Just buy a USB cable. It's literally like five dollars. You don't need to post your rants in the comments section when you could actually be productive and go and buy a USB yourself.
Your youtube channel gets down votes because your product sucks. #NoUSBcable
Im tired of this $%#$2 ... Paper jam, Men if u know that this printer have this problem make a tutorial on how to fix it ...Arrghh
Hello WiQuiTiKi,
I saw you other post in the comments section indicating that neither document helped to resolve the issue.
Thanks for all, you want to know what i do to fix it? Buy another one ... Good Night
are you kidding me?! doesn't come with the damn cable, what a piece of shit..
USB is not included, and this is not specified in the box. Had a college, my mom bought this printer, set it up, and what a surprise, no USB. Cant do my homework now, giving this back asap. I'm so dissapointed.
