Carly Gregg Acted with 'Intent to Kill' in Mom's Murder Case: Prosecutor

- The state delivered a powerful closing argument on Friday and asserted Carly Gregg is not innocent of the murder of his mother, Ashley Smylie. Prosecutors assert Gregg murdered her mom "with intent to kill" in March 2023. The jury is expected to deliberate on Friday afternoon. Gregg could face up to life behind bars if convicted.

Fifteen-year-old Carly Gregg is accused of brutally murdering her mother and attempting to murder her stepfather in March of 2024. Gregg allegedly shot her mother in the face numerous times inside their Mississippi home before she's accused of calling her friend over to show her the gruesome scene. If convicted, Gregg faces life behind bars.

This was a manipulative 14yr old who was going to have her way or else. Crying for her self. She murdered her mother in cold blood. Only ones who seemed to care was the dogs. Prayers for the mother.

Soooo, to me, it sounds like it was something planned between her and step daddy. They had more going on between them two. They thought because she was 14 she would get off light. Something deeper is going on here. Why was he not seriously hurt when mom was shot straight in the face. IDK just my thoughts.

I am so thoroughly disgusted with this verdict. I cannot believe any intelligent adult would convict a child, with serious mental health issues, to life in prison. This child needs help which she will not get in prison. My heart breaks for her and her family.
