Chuckled at the color comment. I was a school nurse and I had 5 schools to cover. I color coded them to keep me sane. My son was in 9th grade and loved the color idea. We color coded his notebooks, folders-everything. He had a whiteboard where he would write down homework/projects and that was color coded too. He had certain classes with colors-science was green, math was blue, French was red.

I had my baby last August so work was NOT on my mind last summer. I’m moving classrooms, moving grade levels, and full of energy for getting ready for this school year!
I can’t thank you enough! This is exactly what I needed. I am changing classrooms and have a lot of stuff to organize!
I live for these videos 😍 you make me want to get back in my classroom, but they won’t let us in until August! Can you do a video of things teachers can do to get ready for the year without being in the classroom?
Also would love to see how you lesson plan!
Same! 😊
Also same
Are you doing other classroom videos
Same! I’m so jealous of everyone who’s able to get in over the summer
This reminds me that I need a paper cutter.
Always sooo excited to see a new vlog posted from you!! Thank you for sharing your thought process - love it!!
ahhhh it’s my fave time of year!!! I’m in my 4th year of university and will be starting my bachelor of education program in a year or 2!!
i can listen to you all day. Your thought process is amazing and inspiring!
Loving the thought process. Thanks for sharing!
I love your organization videos!! I would love to see a prep with me video for the first couple weeks back to school! :)
this is my favourite time of the year as i love these videos of yours!!!!!!
Loving your hair!! Keep the videos coming!! This will be my 5th year teaching fourth grade!
3rd year! I love this part of teaching lol finally got start in my classroom. Definitely have watched your videos several times lol ❤❤
appreciate all the advice!!
Hiii! Are you going to have a video going through the daily schedule you plan on using? I am going into my 4th year teaching two grades and it’s so hard to find time to get everything done! Curious to see what your schedule will look like! ☺️ I teach 3rd and 4th grade!! ❤️
@@mekenzieahlstrom8251 yes I am once I figure it out! 😜 Maybe I’ll film my thought process while I’m deciding how to run my day!
I love the indoor recess labels I need to do that. My recess toys and games are a hot mess haha thanks for the ideas.
I arranged my u-table & teacher desk(really just a long white table) into the J-shape last year, but I dropped the curve part of the J more away from the teacher desk, so it was easy to go back & forth with fewer steps. LOVE your videos...thank you!
I wanted it to work so badly, but with the shape of the small group table and placement of the cabinets it was just too tight
OMG I would love to have those cabinets!! My classroom has very few and the ones it has are stuffed with things.
I love the matching labels and bins! Color coding has saved my life with a combo. I'm going into my second year teaching a 2/3, and I color code EVERYTHING! 2nd is always green and 3rd is always blue. It helps both me and the students stay organized and figure out what belongs to each grade level 😂 I am excited to see how you'll structure your day! I got into a good groove last year but there still isn't enough time for all the things!
@@hannahmoors3772 I’m doing the same thing!!! Any tips on how you structure your day would be awesome! 😄
@@EarlyEDventures Tried to send you a message on Instagram, but it was too long! I sent you an email instead! ☺
@@hannahmoors3772 omg you’re the best! Thank you!!
Hey there! Not Cal girl as well! I taught a 2/3 combo and I used the 12x12 scrapbook containers to hold my benchmark units and all of the supplemental materials (focus wall etc). Because each TRS is 2 units I only needed 6 for each grade level. I felt these stacked well! I love your classroom though! All that storage is a dream!!! Good luck to you this coming year!
That's what I have used for the past 7 years!! I love them and will probably find use for them somehow this year!
@@EarlyEDventures I’m sure you will! We teachers can never have enough storage containers! lol!
Shelly, I had to use those "rings" and hole punch my labels to make them stick to baskets. Just a suggestion. Love your new digs!!
I literally want to meet you in person you seem so chill
You changed my life I didn’t even think about using a hot glue gun on my bins😂
I love TWIG science!
I'm 50/50 on it! It's a LOT I just wish I had more time to dissect it and really dive in!
@@EarlyEDventures that is true! I can easily see how doing two grade levels is a lot. I realized I only have experience with the first grade units, which I’m sure are simpler than upper grades. I heavily rely on the online platform and Google slides, which I enhance. It’s a lot of work but so fun!
I love your videos! Where did you get your teacher desk from? If you have a link for it, would you please share? Thank you
@@charityrichardson9477 it was given to us by our district!
NIOCE!
I LOVE all of you labels!! Are you able to sell the indoor recess game labels in your TpT store? I wasn't sure because of copyright and using the actual logo. If so, I would LOVE to buy them!
Oh! That's a good question, I am not sure. But also, it would be tricky because I wouldn't be able to make one for every game that exists!!!
On those Big Lots baskets, you could use zip ties to keep your labels on too...
@@mimifredoh yeah, but that looks messier to me! I don’t want to look at zip ties 😂
Science is green, math is red, social studies is blue, English/writing is yellow. Haha
@@joeymarcz8849 Nooooo!! 🤣
I would love to know how a split classroom works. How are the lessons being taught? I’ve never had any experience with them because they don’t have split classes in the schools I have experience with. Thanks!!
I am going to be filming a whole video about my thought process and how I am planning on organizing my day.
15 year teacher veteran here. 5 classrooms and multiple grade levels. Do you need both tables? I only have my small groups table now and use it as a desk area with some shelves behind it for my teacher things. If you got rid of one table it might free up space and allow for more layout options.
I have gotten ride of my teacher desk in the past, but it turns out I like having a separate space
How do you store your board games? Love your setup videos!
I use sterilite bins! I will go more in depth in a future video for sure
@@EarlyEDventures thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to respond.
I clicked on the link for the "Ultimate Classroom Setup Guide" but it takes me to your link tree but no choice for the setup guide, only parent parent conference checklist freebie, TH-cam channel, and Amazon wish list must haves. Am I doing something wrong? Please advise.
Where did you get that size cutter? I like it😃.
Amazon! Or walmart
Thanks ☺️
I usually have my desk flat against the wall and my kidney table kind of turned outwards facing the middle of the class and it's always leaves space for my teacher stuff and my corner, saves space and if I'm doing something on the document camera I can have a kid sit next to me if they're causing trouble
First off love the videos. I’m going to be teaching 4th grade self contained, can you please share your insight on teaching self contained classes. This is my first year teaching. Please help
My whole channel is insight into teaching in a self contained classroom!! That's all I have ever taught
This is off topic but with maternity leave are you still panning for the sub? Or is that like a grade level team task?
@@sj53097 depends on your district/school! You can plan day by day but I gave my sub the curriculum and a detailed pacing guide for the weeks and let her move things around as needed!
In my experience (twice), I planned a week or two to get the sub started and then they were expected to plan and fulfill full teaching responsibilities (i.e. conferences, iep meetings/reviews, planning, etc).
Heyyy great classroom setup! Please heart my comment I love ur vids
Hello, I’m curious. Are combo classes a common thing in Cali? What is the purpose behind it? To not have to hire another teacher to split the grade levels up?
It just seems like it is an unfair situation to everyone involved. Lots of small group instruction means the kids get less teacher time, attention, and feedback. I am having a hard time understanding why admin would think that would be what’s best for kids?
It is 100% based on enrollment. For example, there aren't enough 2nd or 3rd graders to create an entire class, but there are too many so they have to go somewhere. Because in public schools, if this school is inside your home zone, they can't deny anyone enrollment...it's just a numbers game (from what I understand). That being said, when we do have to do a combination class they try to make it so it is as beneficial as possible. I get a full time aide, they hand pick the students who will be in the class and it is made of strong independent learners with no major behaviors. I agree with you...it is NOT ideal, but I am actually really looking forward to the challenge since I have taught both grades for several years
What will your schedule look like? How are you teaching both?
@@kristinasarti5079 I’m filming this as a whole video!!! Stay tuned!
I always cut first then laminate and cut again so the laminate doesn’t peel off the paper.
@@tracyinnes8840 my laminate never peels off! I’m also not going to spend the time cutting twice 🤪
You remind me of Alexa PenaVega when you wear your hair up in a bun!
I get that a lot lol
When I color code the subjects it's: Reading = red(It's alliterative.); Science=green( like plantscand nature ); Social Studies =blue( blue water in geography, the blue in the American flag); and Math =yellow( It's the only primary color I hadn't used yet ). used orange for Writing, too.
When I've taught K-1st, I used those colors on the respective bulletin boards with the same border, most times. When I have taught 2nd- middle school, I usually choose 1 paper color and 1 kind of border for all the boards.
When I've taught middle school, I only taught 1 subject, so I color coded my 4 mods:
Red- my homeroom( It's my second favorite color. If I made them my favorite, blue, I fear I would favor them slightly. My 2nd mod was green( I don't realky like green, but they were my least challenging class, so sweet. It balanced it out.) The 3rd mod was yellow, and the 4th was blue(I was a morning person back then and was dragging by the end of the day. So, I gave them my favorite color because it gave me something to look forward to. 🙂
I love this!! I personally do not like the color red, so I never use it. I agree with Social Studies....it is100% blue!!
Has anyone ever told you that you looks like Alexa Peña Vega 😂?
Are those color bins from lakeshore?
