    Thanks for the video I just bought a second hand one which needs new seals on the ram, hopefully it won't be to much of a chore 😊

    Great tutorial ! I have a 10 ton floor standing press by Sealy which works on the same principle as this, I hadn't used it for a while but yesterday when I came to use it, It was dead and would not build any pressure... The hydraulic ram and pump are identical to your press and I am now going to pop down to Machine Mart and buy some hydraulic fluid/oil as mine seems pretty empty ! - I also think that the "O" seal on my pump had gone so will see about changing that too... Wish me luck ! :)

    I got a similar press, 20T, i did read about to use SAE 10W Monograde oil, i read to not use ATF oil as it could damage the seals, what do you think?

      Hi, I used the specfic oil from Machine Mart. I would check what the manufacturer recommends, as possibly different presses use different seals here. But I think there is a reason why you dont just use any oil. Thanks

    Hi, may I know why is your press head not retracted back to its original position after you have released the pressure ? There is an issue about my press head not retractable after changing oil seal and hydraulic oil.

    In the process of educating myself on doing this job. Was there oil in the ram head itself that you emptied out, or just the pump?

    • @twin2civicgaraget2cg75
      @twin2civicgaraget2cg75  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I only took the oil out of where you saw on the video and refiled. When you say the "ram head", do you mean the gauge? If so that is liquid filled... you dont add fluid to it. Thanks

    hi, great video, very useful. Any idea how much oil you needed to refill the cylinder? Looks like it could be just 1 to 2 litres - and that 5 l can container is quite pricey!

    • @twin2civicgaraget2cg75
      @twin2civicgaraget2cg75  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, yeah I did not need much of the oil (can't remember howuch sorry). But I bought the 5 litre container as I have a lot of things needing it. Thanks

      Specs say 500g or oil for the 10 tonne ram, so I’d guess under 1 litre (not knowing the specific gravity of hydraulic fluid.

    1:36 my line has a grey coating from the factory all over the metal. It's like a flakey paint, not rubbery. If I try to plug it in, the paint flakes off and I am worried that the paint will cause a clog in the hydraulic line itself. Any ideas what the grey paint is, why it's there (i'm guessing to prevent leaks even tho theres a red cap too), and what I should do to fix it? The press and pump are brand new, and nobody else's hydraulic line fitting has the grey stuff sprayed on it...

      Hi, I am not sure why the paint is here. Maybe it is overspray? I would just try and rmove the flaking paint is possible first. Thanks

    Hello, can you send a link of where you bought a new gauge from please? Mine won’t zero (despite ‘burping’).

      That’s what I thought re the price, mine doesn’t go back to zero but I’m not sure if it’s a temp thing or if it’s kaput…

      Does it move at all when you have it forcing something? Or does it (just like mine before I fixed it) just sit there sit there at the same value?

    Hello. Is there no need to use ptfe tape on the gauge's thread?

    • @twin2civicgaraget2cg75
      @twin2civicgaraget2cg75  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, I did not put any ptfe tape on the threads and had no issues. Also there did not appear to be any tape on the old gauge, otherwise I would have used some. To answer your question though.... I dont think it would be a bad idea to use some tape, but I had no issues in not using any here. Thanks

      @@twin2civicgaraget2cg75 i'm pretty sure you don't use tape on hydraulic pipes. i've never known of it. airline fittings yes. possibly gas, but i've not heard of oil pipe fittings. hmmm?

      For AN lines you do not use tape... but it did seem that the fitting into the top of the ram had tape... Like I said I did not use any and it worked well. Thanks for the comment

    Very sad, its an informative video, since i do have to do the same to my press, but I‘m getting motion sick from the camera view …

    Better than a funnel. Put a long thin screwdriver in the hole, pour oil gently down the shaft of the screwdriver. The oil sticks to the screwdriver through viscosity and doesn't spill everywhere.
    You can do the same with pouring paint into a small top jar etc.
    means you don't need a funnel or a squirt can. 👍

    You can reset gauge to zero, no need to replace this Chinese crap
