I love how the entire Yamantau level was based pretty much entirely on one line in Metro 2035. "What would we do if we were in Yamantau, eat each other?"
Well it wasn't just one line. In the book there was cultists who lived in the dark and praised a worm and ate people from outside. The leaders of the group were academics who wanted to test if it was possible to make a cult
The Cannibals in the Bunker are by 2035 especially monstrous as by the time you get there radiation levels are bad but not terrible, they could easily have organised an evacuation at the very least several years ago that they chose not to shows they do not deserve the slightest bit of regard or sympathy and the game makes this clear by letting you go absolutely rip on a bunch of cannibals who have it coming - indeed your bullets are too good for them. I also like how the officer's journal makes clear that they also evidently turned on and ate those who did not agree. I hope that officer took a good few dozen with him before he went down.
Always felt bad for that poor cultist who had his entire worldview destroyed by one of the very men who had acted as a guide and father figure to him only to be heartlessly shot dead by Miller moments later during a fit of sadness and confusion.

When Dron was shot after crying in shock at the lie of the Worm, it felt like he was a metaphor for the children born in the metro, with no idea of what the outside world was like, their entire world like Plato’s Allegory of the Caves. If memory serves, cannibalism has a neural degenerative effect upon the human brain over the course of generations. Has anyone heard of this, I can't remember where I heard it from.
I mention it later within the video about how it can cause things like Kuru. But yes I believe it’s similar to what inbreeding is like. No idea how it works but the brain doesn’t fully develop as it would if you ate regular meat or general nutritious foods
This cannibalists in the bunker could have done the same as the slave masters in the caspian desert... capture people and use them. But this time not for work, but for food. They should have kept some people alive though, so they can male more humans to eat..
I don't think that would have been sustainable, though. From what we see in the game, there aren't any female cannibals so it is safe to assume that if there were any originally they were definitely already dead by the time the Spartans arrived. And in the beginning of the cannibalistic behavior I can't imagine any females being too keen on being literally bred for their children's meat, and even if they were on board with that idea, what would they eat while waiting 9ish months? Now if we were to assume that the entire original population of the bunker were male, captured women would be overwhelmingly outnumbered by the cannibals, which brings us back to having to wait 9 months for children from women who would most definitely be raped if they were unwilling to be bred like pigs. Considering the trauma & poor nutrition and in a place that is very far from being a clean environment (at least the people in the Metro stations had sanitation workers, the bunker on the other hand is absolutely filthy) the majority of pregnancies would end in miscarriage or stillborn births. And on top of this, childbirth is actually incredibly dangerous & in conditions such as the bunker with literally only one doctor and very limited resources, mothers' mortality rate would be incredibly high, most likely worse than that of many 3rd world countries currently.
Human growth is too slow, both in and out of the womb, and require a lot of food. You can't farm humans, is a waste of resources. Pigs, for example, can eat things humans cannot (which is the important thing here) grow much faster, and their females have It more easy giving birth. thats why you could farm them. Sht this is dark
There's another group i the Andreï Dyakov book "Into the darkness". It is set in the Metro universe, in the St-Petersbourg metro. Sadly, there is no english version 😕. Mine is in french, since it's my 1st language.
I enjoyed this part of the game because I (Artyom) could shoot and kill everyone without worrying about if they were good or not. Just kill, kill, kill because there were no good guys in the Ark.
I hope we will get another Metro game that is more similar in its themes and atmosphere to the Metro 2033 book. All those myths, strange events, anomalies, secrets, hidden stations, stations with their own politics and philosophy. Just one huge map where you can traverss the ebtire metro without a loading screen. And another map of the surface where you could go to gather supplies and such.
Are the spin-off books set within the _Metro 2033_ universe available in english as well? I read the Metro series and some spin-off material translated into german, that's why I don't know which books got published in english.. One spin-off series (written by another russian writer befriended with Glukhovsky) is set in St. Petersburg whose metro-system serves as a nuclear shelter just like Moscow's system and experiences similar conditions. In the Petersburg metro there's also a cult called "Exodus" trying to convince people to go to Kronstadt where supposedly an "arc" was waiting to bring people to an alleged land of milk and honey spared by the strikes but in reality it's all nothing but a set-up to lure people into the hands of a cannibal community which survived in a bunker at Kronstadt but fell back to cannibalism when resources ran out. The whole narrative is set around a cannibal cult, so it would have fitted this video perfectly.
I find the Exodus weakest installment but the Bunker sequence is definetly the most interesting and best designed area. Also the last mission had very gloomy vibes I likes alot but I'm not a fan of the hallucinations that ruin the atmosphere imho.
The first book is amazing and leaves you second guessing whether or not something supernatural is going on. The second book drags and reads in a way that the author is debating the characters on philosophy and whoa boy is it boring. The third book picks up after the first (you can skip the second you aren't missing anything, it follows a bunch of irrelevant secondary characters that have no effect on the overall story). Honestly I like the games story more which loosely follows the first book and really the first book only which is the best book in the series. In the games mankind literally nuked heaven and hell so souls have no where to go hence why you have ghost in the metro.

@@keenanthornley7680so killing themselves is a mercy
Human growth is too slow, both in and out of the womb, and require a lot of food. You can't farm humans, is a waste of resources.
Pigs, for example, can eat things humans cannot (which is the important thing here) grow much faster, and their females have It more easy giving birth. thats why you could farm them.

You are the Metro King of TH-cam
I think Roanoke still holds that title haha but thank you!!
Am I the only one who thinks that the doctor of the yamantau bunker looks lime medic form TF2 ?
I mean, the Cult of the Great Worm are correct in their thinking. In context, cannabilism isn't the worse thing done in the Metro.
Oh, right, i forgot about the book i was supposed to finish
There's another group i the Andreï Dyakov book "Into the darkness". It is set in the Metro universe, in the St-Petersbourg metro. Sadly, there is no english version 😕. Mine is in french, since it's my 1st language.
I enjoyed this part of the game because I (Artyom) could shoot and kill everyone without worrying about if they were good or not. Just kill, kill, kill because there were no good guys in the Ark.
Holy shit, Wow! Such Gaming is one of your patrons!
He is indeed! Nice guy and good friend :)

Well, 4A Games announced they had already begun working on the next installment maybe a year ago, so let's hope so!
I wonder when they'll make the dark tunnels books into video game's.
Interesting how the cult of the Worm in the book is similar to the cult of the Tsar-fish in the game. The different in adaptation is pretty good.
I love your Metro Videos
Glad to hear man!! Thank you for watching
The great worms r probably those damn giant leeches in novasevirsk

@@pietervanderzwaan4295 You can say that again.
Such a filling video
I love this Metro Videos
Could you do wasteland lore? Also love your videos
Love metro lore keep it coming
great video
😀 right on time. Thank you
Not to be a buzzkill but Artyom drank with the station chief not Anton, Anton was the watch commander in the tunnel to Park Pobedy
Man I hated the cannibals of yamantau there were so many
I wonder why in the games...specifically Metro Exodus, he never makes a comment about them.
Fucking tremendous as always!
I love these videos!
Good to hear dude! Thanks for giving it a watch :)
nice video
rumors of a new metro from the Nvidia leak unless its just a remake
The dev team already said it’s in development. I’d say announcement next year for late 2022 or 2023 release
I haven’t played metro in years but this lore is smacking dick
The greeeaaaat wooorm
This whole script sounds like a college freshmen struggling to reach the word count for his essay.
I find the Exodus weakest installment but the Bunker sequence is definetly the most interesting and best designed area. Also the last mission had very gloomy vibes I likes alot but I'm not a fan of the hallucinations that ruin the atmosphere imho.
2033 is such a great book
The first book is amazing and leaves you second guessing whether or not something supernatural is going on. The second book drags and reads in a way that the author is debating the characters on philosophy and whoa boy is it boring. The third book picks up after the first (you can skip the second you aren't missing anything, it follows a bunch of irrelevant secondary characters that have no effect on the overall story).
Honestly I like the games story more which loosely follows the first book and really the first book only which is the best book in the series. In the games mankind literally nuked heaven and hell so souls have no where to go hence why you have ghost in the metro.
It's either eat or be eaten.
MEEEEAT!!!!
yamantau, the only level I can go guns blazing :v
Park Pobedy in Russian would be pronounced "P-ah-rr-k Puh-byed-ee
I’ll keep that in mind for next time if I mention it. I couldn’t find a consistent pronunciation of it so just said it how it looked to me
@@WiseFish Good vibes, good vibes. I don't mean it as 'bad bad bad' - You're the one making the videos I enjoy watching and your Metro lore on the factions are the best. I cannot wait for when you approach this universe again.
@@dewittbourchier7169 oh no dude dw I know you didn’t mean it like that. I do try and get the names right but it is hard. Thanks so so much for the nice comments 😁

you earned my sub m nigga
half of the stuff he says is not in the game
Yes, they are from the books
I think fallout could benefit from a darker tone like Metro sure we had cannibal factions but all them seemed campy and ridiculous but it would be nice to have them portrayed as the horror as a pack of cannibals can really be
18:00 Not rabies, prions.
Nope rabies. It says rabies in the doctors notes
@@WiseFish Have you read it in Russian? Cause I did.
@@ChairmanKam congrats. But it says rabies.
@@WiseFish Nope. I just checked the English to see if it's just a different text between the two languages. The exact words: "Doc said shit about some privons [sic]". 🤷
