I think it's possible that J.None was singing how he was to help differentiate his voice and timbre from EJ's. That way there were three distinct voices in the upper registers. I was also wondering if the bass levels were set softer through whatever you're processing the video's sound with? It had much less of an impact from the Voiceplay's video.

Voiceplay has a lot of Disney tracks and medleys, and EJ is part of Voctave, which is a group of Disney vocalists, and they are quite frankly dreamy in their interpretations of Disney (very old school, but in a good way).

EJ Cardona is a part of the group Voctave. They specialize in Disney. You should check out the Disney Show stoppers Medley. I think you'll like it.

The version of Go the Distance that Voiceplay is covering is the one that plays during the end credits of Hercules, as sung by Michael Bolton. It's an expanded version of the song, and includes an additional verse (to make it into more of a pop song, as the in-film version has less than 2 minutes of music, and has a dialogue break in the middle of the song).
As a cover of that version, I found it to be quite enjoyable. But I can totally see where you were coming from - if you were expecting something closer to the in-film version, parts of this arrangement could definitely have fallen flat.

i guess if you want the original, stick to that instead of listening to covers. It's not really fair to compare. I'm lucky in that I've never seen a lot of Disney movies so I can appreciate these covers for what they are.
