I was once the other woman without knowing at the time that I was the other woman. But trust me, when I found out, I felt horrible. Not just that our relationship was fake and I had to put the pieces together of all the times he was lying and going back to her, but that I did that to another woman- who he was living with and had a kid with her- and she had to put the pieces together of all the times he was going back to me. But the thing that really fucked me up was the feeling I was left with that I wasn’t enough for someone to just want on my own. It took me a long time to get over that and rectify that, because I think I accepted a lot of shitty behavior from men afterwards, because at least they wanted me, so I should just take what I could get, right? Wrong. I know that now. But that’s kind of what being the other woman leaves you feeling like.

Let me tell you this, and I do not know if it will help, but I was the guy who was cheated on by my ex fiance and at the end of the day I do not blame the guy she cheated on me with I blame her. I tell you that in hopes that maybe it will help you realize you were not the one at fault. You had no idea what was going on and as soon as you did you did the right thing. However the names (Betty, James & Inez) are the real names of the children of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Per Taylor: “I named the characters after real people in my life who I love more than anything. And their names are James, Inez and Betty.” The 3 are great friends IRL and do things together very often. Blake Lively also directed the fantastic music video for Taylor’s “I bet you think about me”. ❤ And “The baby's voice featured on the song “Gorgeous” is that of James Reynolds, a daughter of actors Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Swift decided to feature the baby's voice after she played an acoustic guitar demo to Lively and Reynolds and then their daughter kept saying the word "gorgeous".” She keeps her friends close. Love it! 🥰
Moral of the story? James is a dick. And yes, yes she did rhyme "cardigan" with "car again", and it works. So I kinda like the idea of cobblestones representing the relationship - that's an astute observation. Great reaction, I was glad you did all 3 in one video.
I still think the bigger dick is Betty, like, Betty KNOWS James doesn’t like crowds and loud places so she decided to dance with another guy, James saw that and went away, Augustine took the chance to invite him on a road trip for the summer and he accepted because he felt broken hearted, he still wanted to be with Betty because he loved her. Doesn’t excuse his wrongdoing cuz how do you go with another girl and sleep with her, but Betty was still the root of the problem
I feel like the video is... giving points of view that aren't in the songs. I always percieved the songs that Augustine thought they'd broken up because of what happened at prom (I thought I had you), so she took the opportunity (Drove up and said get in the car) and then the song August is her looking back and realising that she'd got it wrong, and that he WASN'T hers.
I agree 100%. Looking back on using the video I dont think it was the best idea. Mainly because I personally became more invested in the video then I did the lyrics which means I missed certain aspects of Taylor's artistry.
