  • A quick overview of my new dump trailer. So far I am happy with it. I tried to get a trailer to cover all of the things that I would need one for. It seems like now days there are so many different trailers for every specific load that you yard could look like a dealership real fast.

    i have a dump trailer and only have i charged the battery a couple times in 3 years,, if u haul it around daily it trickle charges ,, i dump mine about once a day average and twice a day now and then and also wont dump for a couple days now and then , i think if u keep ypur trailer somewhere and only use it or tow it when u have plans to fill and dump u may need to charge it some times,,

    If you lift the dump body up a couple inches you won't have a problem getting the snowblower up without scraping

    Nice video and trailer. With the I-beam construction what is the cargo capacity rating?

    • @5yearplan269
      @5yearplan269  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      gene coppedge I don’t have the exact numbers in front of me right now but trailer weighs about 4000lbs so with two 7000lb axles your looking at about 10,000 lbs cargo capacity. (14,000 lbs minus the trailer weight). Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

    5 Year Plan
    I have a 14 Foot - PJ D7 Dump Trailer
    My model isn't made anymore they now went to your model. ( DL )
    Mine is taller. Something for you to think about is : The door pins it is actually nice that you need to pull them up to hold door. In time they won't work as well and may not hold door. When you think you need new ones hit them down with a hammer and then the pins start to grab again. No need for new. A couple things you should have gotten when your trailer - Always order it with a Gravity Down button - Saves battery and if you ever had an issue and lost power you can still get the box down. I always use mine.
    I myself don't like the License Plate bracket under the trailer - Its to low.
    I took mine off and screwed the License plate to the back left door. I ordered mine with 8 D-Rings - When you are hauling stuff like tractors etc... Its nice to have several in more spots than the 4 standard. When loading if your having issues either lay a plank down on the ground up to your ramp or Raise your box up a little with your lift before you drive on to lower your angle for Tractor to go up. I love my Trailer but the 2 negatives on it are.
    1. I have the Orange Powder Coat / Beautiful looking but the Paint in several spots mainly on the frame peals off in big sections sometimes -
    The Metal was not cleaned properly before it was Primed & Painted.
    2. I didn't have an option like they do now for a Power Jack.
    I wish I had the Power Twin Monster Jacks on mine. No more hand cranking.
    Love my Trailer though - I had it built how I wanted - I had a lot in Extras when I order mine.
    Had mine built at the Texas Plant / Not the Ohio Plant.
    I had several Dealers tell me ask to have built in Texas when I order.
    I would love to sell mine and build another new one. Build it the same as I have now except with the Power Twin Jacks.
    I live in Wisconsin if any of you are close and are interested in buying one.
    Congrads on the trailer - They are handy.

      I just ordered a red gooseneck down rated to 14000k to avoid CDL requirements. They say it will take 4-5 weeks to build here at the Texas plant. I ordered it with the solar charger and 14 ply tires. My question is what is involved with the gravity down option. Is it just a controller change? I doubt they have even started the build so I'm gonna call tomorrow and add it if possible. Do you remember how much it could cost for that feature? What about the power Jack, mine being a gooseneck, I feel that would help out. Could you guess on the cost of that upgrade as well? Thanks for the info.

    • @stenny1970
      @stenny1970 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaelkelly6769 The Dual Jack upgrade I think is an extra $600 - You would want that. The gravity down I can't recall the cost - Maybe around a $100 not sure. It is something you want for sure. Saves the battery. Also order it with the biggest Box you can get. I also had extra D-Rings put in mine - 8 Total - There is a Company in Iowa that builds a trailer that costs just a little more but it is built way better than the PJ by far. I was just shown them at the PJ Dealer I bought my PJ from. They carry both brands. Everything about them is better than the PJ. From the build quality to the paint. They are well worth checking out -
      Copy and Paste below behnkeenterprises.com/
      I like my PJ - But there is things they could really improve on. Starting with the Paint. I will not buy another PJ after I have seen the B-B Trailers. Worlds apart on quality, Cost isn't to much higher - Built better in so many ways. Plus the Dump Angle is awesome - it goes higher up than PJ. Check them out!

      @@stenny1970 Thank you for the info. I am all in with this PJ though. I already gave them the money and hope I don't regret it. I'm gonna call them in a bit and add those 2 options for sure.

    • @stenny1970
      @stenny1970 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaelkelly6769 You should like it - Although your paint you most likely won't. 1 thing though is they told me I need to say mine was a 10K Trailer or I would have to have a CDL to pull it. You better check into that. Mine came in to dealer with the wrong plate on it - They had to have a new plate shipped to them to change it down to 10k - I am from Wisconsin maybe every state is not the same. Not sure on that. I bought mine from an Illinois Dealers about 50 Miles from me. I have a dealer closer but I was able to get the price for mine built how I wanted it for around 800 bucks cheaper.

    I'm in the market for a dump trailer but I have read to many bad things about PJs quality to consider them in my brand options. Nice trailer though.

      There’s nothing perfect out there especially a trailer. It’s mass produced, welded metal with China parts and tadaaa, it’s all yours for this price. I gave up on looking for the perfect trailer and I gave up to a PJ. It works for me and that’s it.
      All the true and solid welding were produced and made 50 to a 100 years ago; now things are put together for the quickest buck.

    Watch out for rusting out from under the paint. Had a pj trailer. Rusted out in 7 years. Washed and clean constantly. Paint pealed off in sheets. Powder coat does not work if put in salted roads.
