It's strange to see that England's progress as a limited overs side has coincided with their downfall in Test cricket, just around 2011-12 they used to be a formidable side beating India in India and Australia in Australia with the likes of Swann, Cook, Peterson and Anderson outperforming Indians and Australians in their own backyard. But this lot, except Root, seems clueless as to how to approach Test cricket.
They need proper coaching for test cricket even warner playes well agressively so its not about mindset its about confusion of roles in the team so that they know how to do well in long over games

I genuinely think that this generation will look back on Mark Howard’s commentary the same way that people of older generations look back on Richie Benaud’s commentary. What an unbelievable turnaround! A few months ago Australia were defeated at home by an Indian team without its key players, got knocked out of the World Test Championship & then lost 9 out 11 T20 games. Yet they end 2021 winning both the T20 world cup & the Ashes within weeks. Australia have just retained the urn as Scott Boland - only the second Indigenous Test cricketer in Australian history - picked up 6 wickets, conceding just 7 runs in the innings while also having a catch dropped. It may go down as one of the all time great Ashes spells.
This entire series is best represented by Joe Root getting nailed in the box...just utter pain for England. Would love to see an Ashes test at MCG once in my lifetime, especially with bowling like that!
