I'm moving to Ireland and currently going through all of this. I am shipping some things, but omg the realization of just how much stuff I actually have is overwhelming, and I downsized by half recently before this too.
You could have probably vacuumed out some more air in those space savers ziplock bags. I vacuumed them up until it is rock hard & unable to confirm how much is inside it. ❤😂🎉😊

Welcome to Aus. You should feel right at home here, particularly in Sydney. There are massive UK communities all around Aus so making friends shouldn't be a problem. Also, don't be afraid to take the piss out of life, we Aussies really enjoy that and if an Aussie is taking the piss out of you then it most likely means that they have accepted you into their group. Stay humble and don't complain about life as that is a big no-no in Australia. Enjoy it and have fun :)
Ohh this is probably too late but it’s defs worth just going slightly underweight on bags… some airport scales are not quite as accurate or well calibrated as your little bag scale. (Happened to me once in a regional airport in WA and I was told my bag was overweight but their scale was wrong 😑) Also also you can defs get pasties in Aus 😂 but good luck and enjoy Australia! Just remember Aus is HUGE and vastly different from state to state, so it’s 1000% worth travelling around!
