They got revived through the power of bonds. The other ending is letting Chrom deal with the final blow, which ends up sealing Grima for 1,000 years again.
When I played this game when it came out I remember I actually didn’t want to do the final boss because I didn’t want this game to end. This game left such an impact on me with its characters that I was really bummed that it was gonna end soon. Of course, 2 weeks later I did finally go back and finished the game. I remember once the credits rolled and it showed “The End” I felt bitter sweet. Then they showed that final scene. Was confused at first cause I was like “flashback to the beginning? Alright then.” Then Chrom said those final words: “Welcome back.” I cried. A lot. Thanks for leaving such an impact on me. I’ll never forget playing this game. #1 3DS game for me. Possibly my #1 in general.

I still remember when Chrom said he was gonna finish it, I said out loud to my DS 'The HELL you are, I'M doing it!!' I was THAT determined and willing to end Grima and get rid of them for good, even if it meant I had to die. I did it for Chrom and ALL my Shepherd buddies; they deserve a future without this dragon asshole constantly hovering over them.
Its TEMPORARILY sad because everyone things they've lost Robin, and Robin is not found for an unspecified amount of time, but in the end the "power of friendship" allows Robin to either survive or resurrect/reform themselves, thus meaning that in the long-term scheme of things Robin hasn't given up very much (they get to keep on living), everyone else gets to have Robin back, and now Grima is dead and thus can never threaten the world again. Of course, in the Chrom final blow ending, there's a decent possibility that the Grimleal won't be around in a 1000 years to revive the reawakened Grima, so there's that.
True. But some Grimleal could have survived and started breeding for the perfect vessel again. Robin took it upon herself to end the cycle of someone having to put Grima to sleep just by killing Grima.

Knowing that Grima was the biggest threat to Ylisse, the nation that saved the world, and by extension, them, it's unlikely that the Grimleal would amass a reasonable following for Grima's resurrection.

Well, technically lucina wasn't really supposed to be a child of robin as the title shows sumia holding the baby. So it might be an oversight on the scriptwriter's part to rewrite lucina's lines for that possibility.

This whole time I didn’t know there was an after credit and therefore believed to in was dead. For approximately 10 years I believed this. And to know that to in comes back alive to reunite with loved ones makes my heart happy. Best story

So there's a way to get free extra maps, in game, you can play after getting so far in the story. There's a whole process. But essentially you can get Walhart, and a handfull of "fallen/dead" characters from earlier parts of awakening and a few of the older games. (Can't remember who from older games and don't want to spoil the other Awakening characters that you might see again)
