Thank you for explaining the meaning of these different options. They can be very confusing for a new user.

Curious video to enhance, camera not moving in the clip and much of the clip is dark footage

I was *JUST* looking at Topaz Labs Video AI yesterday!!!

I’m literally freaking out because it doesn’t seem like the earlier versions are available and my life is depending upon the earlier versions being available. I’ve gone through a very long and complicated process of finding the right computer with all the various specifications and what does Topaz labs do, they upgrade it and now my new laptop I drove myself nuts trying to find on a budget isn’t going to work with the updated version. I don’t know what I’m going to do if the earlier version is just no longer available.

I love this program, been using it for years now. It can't pull miracles out of thin air, but it sure looks like it sometimes. I do a lot of upscaling movies and TV shows, this works great most of the time and really enhances the detail while removing the noise. I have 'The Shining' in 4k, but still ran it through Video AI to clean up the noise they left in the transfer. The Shining has never looked so clean and clear! Cheers 🍻

That's film grain not noise. It was shot on film and it's supposed to be there.

Noise of any kind is still noise and it's never "supposed" to be there! That's why I remove it.

@@Finite-Tuning Film is made up of grain, it is how it creates an image. There is no film without grain. Film converted to digital will have grain, it's part of the image. You may not like it and you are free to remove it on your own but it should always remain at some level when a film is released in a digital format.

hi, they don't have a LIGHTEN feature? can we pretend that most of my videos are underlit? using conventional editors are time consuming and produce less than ideal results

I have had Topaz Video AI (hereafter TVAI) since it first came out and it is a lot better and easy to use now. BUT, even on my fully-maxed out Mac Studio M1 Ultra (128 GB 8TB SSD), a five minute video can take A LONG TIME even with simple up-scaling. So, get a powerful-enough PC/MAC but still be ready to do the laundry, read a book, play a game once you export! TVAI is great but a lot this can also be done in FCPX or DaVinci Resolve.

    Thanks for the video.
I was playing around with the test version a bit.
IMO Iris is the best model when enhancing video with people in it.
I tested this model with "Input Condition" set to medium and quite aggressive settings ("Parameters" set to "Relative to Auto") and I'm impressed what quality I got from old DVDs.I upscaled to full HD (1080p). Sometimes the results were almost like a Blu-ray.
But you really need a fast machine. Especially a fast graphics card. Otherwise you have to wait for years until the processing is done ;)

    The best solution for video.
For best results (the total time ...) you need the newest cards, supporting avx.
Unfortunately for Mac users, the program is more "friendly " with PC users....

I am interested to learn on improving very bad interlaced sources. Here the result is even worse than the original whatever I try.

I have a Ryzen 5 3600 gtx 1080 ti and a 2 minute video, 720p 30 fps, converting to 4k60fps, takes 1 hour, and cpu temperature is 80 celsius, graphics card is at 70 celsius.
I had to open up the case/ take the side window off my computer to let the heat out more cuz cpu was at 90 celsius.

Best choice is AMD flagship Ryzen9 7950X3D, but saving money you can take cheaper one Ryzen7 7800X3D. Graphic Card is more important, as faster as better, but that can be very expensive! Choose Nvidia GraphicCard not AMD because it's a AI application. I have a RTX 470 and I think it's a good compromise between cost and benefit.

Perhaps video AI is good for upscaling, but is a terrible product for getting rid of noise and sharpening the video. I returned it unfortunately to my disappointment.

yes they should spend much more energy into good denoise, NYX V1&V2 models are not really good.

They launched model "NYX3" for denoise, which is better now.
