That’s a terrific set of answers actually. Enforcing hospitals to publicly post their billing itemization procedure, and their prices, would be so helpful in forcing down prices. It definitely is a form of extortion, that they secretly overcharge people, and then we blame the insurance companies (they’re corrupt too, but not as much as the hospitals). I’ve been saying for some years that getting to the root of hospital prices is the real issue, ever since when I lived abroad for work and I was able to afford health care out of pocket on local typical wages for the area. This used to be possible in the United States too before hospitals and medical school became for profit enterprises. I didn’t know Trump passed a law forcing them to publish their prices. If that were enforced, that’d be a good start.

I really don’t think many rich people care about healthcare because they can afford what they need. I also think that maybe, just maybe there are some powerful people who think from time to time healthcare is an issue (Joe Biden) and actually do something to improve the state of healthcare, but it will never be fully fixed, not in our lifetimes. Yall need to remember that private healthcare would still exist and offer specialized services in a government funded healthcare system. Ask anyone from a country with socialized medicine. Even private services in many of those countries are actually cheaper than insured ones are here in the US. Insurance companies/pharma lobbies are just an unnecessary middle man that makes the whole system more expensive for patients and providers.

Not sure if this is still in play, but one of the big chages due to Obamacare was that you could no longer claim bankruptcy due to medical debt. So it forced people to never be able to get out form under it. Not sure if anything has been amended to that or not

Your comments in your question to DT, claiming Trump created this legislation requiring health care providers to advertise their prices are suspect. My research shows that this Federal Law came about by The Affordable Care Act, which was not a Trump accomplishment. Am I missing something? Thanks. This is what Trump supporters need to know. Publicly listing prices in real time only results in all companies charging the same price. It’s happening with the home rental sector. If Trump passed this law in good faith it shows he lacks the foresight to fight successfully for us.
