QOTSA are my favorite band i do not get the crazed love for "i appear missing" .... it would lose to "the fun machine took a shit and died" in round one
I'm glad that I'm not the only one that realizes how special "I Appear Missing" is. This song has truly done some major stuff to my soul. It's heartwrenching and beautiful at the same time, which I think equals out to it being fucking EPIC. FUCKING. EPIC.
Yeah, what you said. When I hear "Carnavoyeur" off the new album "... In Times New Roman," I sometimes get the feeling that song is having a conversation with "I Appear Missing" -as if to say: Having been on both sides, whatever that means... I'm here and not here, so now what?
Ha. I don’t care if he was only drumming for 60 seconds but Dave Grohl is a marginally better drummer than Jon…..or anyone else for that matter pertaining to QOTSA.
@@OlinKreutzRulesDave Grohl disagrees with you 100%. He admits he "hits real hard," but lacks the technical genius of guys like Taylor Hawkins (may he RIP) and Jon Theodore. Thanks for posting, Simone! I was there, and the whole time I was thinking, "Everyone NEEDS to see this band." They get better with every album, and with every show. One of the perks of seeing a show in LA is that you never know who's going to show up. I about lost my shit when Alain Johannes walked out to open.
What a raw talent. Josh consistently impresses me as he produces such interesting and unique music with each new record. He is able to retain his style and sound without making the same record over and over again. I've seen them in concert four times and will go again the first chance I get.
@@ggthewhale I know everyone is all over Dave and Joey, but I personally think Jon is the most technically skilled, versatile and tasteful. might be the best version of "i never came" ever recorded. I like it better than the album. Not sure why that song isn't a staple in their live set. It's def one of their best.
Like all QOTSA albums , they take a while to grow on me , but the more I listen to the new songs , the more I am in awe of how Josh Homme creates music , he is without doubt one of the best songwriters on the planet at the moment .
Thanks to QOTSA for allowing this to continue! It's always reassuring when a band (regardless of participants) makes it more about the music than the money! Always thankful!
We retro-guys do have to pay a premium, don't we. I rarely buy new vinyl anymore because it is so pricey. I do get it as gifts though for my birthday and stuff...idea perhaps? Makes it even more special.
Your assuming I have people around me that like me enough to buy me present's, lol. Good idea though. I got this from Amazon for $27 bcuk's. A little steep but just had to have it. Rock on..
Man their new songs are awesome! I got my bromance back for Josh and QOTSA. Fantastic new drummer! The end part of "I Appear Missing" gives me the same ecstatic feeling as the end of Jimi's "Axis : Bold As Love" . Kind of just takes you and lifts you up. Anyone else?
Jon Theodore is one of my all-time favorite drummers. A complete animal technically and has some real taste with his playing. Just go listen to the first 3 The Mars Volta albums, that's some serious skill. Glad QotSA picked this guy up. Great band, great performance here.
I went to see the show and it was ABSOLUTELY mind blowing - these guys are ridiculously fantastic at what they do and it shows. Queens never dissapoints! AND yes this volume situation is not doing it justice BUT the upload is very much appreciated :)
I’m just so thankful that josh is well and blessed and here to share his thoughts and kindness with us so amazing stay healthy and fucking talented ❤️🩹❤️
This is how it's done! This is a fantastic show of musicianship, and a testament to how Josh has grown as a composer, song writer. Well done sir, you won't.ever see some of these over produced younger "artists" actually put on a stage show of this caliber. Amazing 3
Wow!! I stumbled upon this on a late night treadmill session. Bored with whatever late late late night had to offer on the latest NBA "star" who signed an 80 million dollar contract...I flipped past public television. Wait a minute! Was that...? No. It couldn't have been, could it?? I didn't realize my mind was about to be blown by Iowa Public Television! This show is one for the ages. The set list? Oh my. Yes, there are some tunes missing, but who cares??? Maybe they didn't play your "favorite." I say find another. There are so many to choose from. My favorite changes from day to day with this band. It's a little tiny bit crazy that this was almost 6 years ago!?! I listened to this live on NPR and I am so pleased that you have it here. I'm pretty sure your post of this is the one I went to the next day (after it originally aired) and listened to again like 3 times in a row, and then again pretty much every day for like a month straight. It's been a little while; I listened to Them Crooked Vultures today after a hiatus for a couple of years; made me want to hear this performance again. I'm so happy it's still here; this is gooood stuff. Thank you for posting it. Huh, on a side note, since nobody really reads this mess anymore anyway, I'm going to now go listen to some Blue Cheer and Sir Lord Baltimore, (which I've never heard of before) because apparently they are kind of like Hawkwind. I discovered this just now while searching for Them Crooked Vultures release date. I saw a link to a band called O Pensamento É um Ímã and an album they have called Thought is a Magnet. When I searched for that, Monster Magnet came up; an article I read about them informed me that the comic book character Negasonic Teenage Warhead was named for the Monster Magnet song; the article mentions Hawkwind, Blue Cheer and Sir Lord Baltimore. I have had the pleasure of seeing an iteration of Hawkwind years ago and would love to hear some similar stuff. Okay that is all. All hail the awesomeness of music.
Yes I did and then I flew to LA on Halloween night for the last concert of the tour.. BADASS!! Not only that but the next night I caught Marilyn Manson at The Roxy..so freaking awesome!

wtf is so great about it
A poetic, brilliant new album, both musical, lyrics and sublime synchronous concert visuals ! Thank you....!!!
Queens of the Stone Age should do a Tiny Desk appearance.
The three part harmony from Josh, Mikey and Troy on Kalopsia is so amazing. And Mikey's screams are brutal as always.
O M G ! ! ! ! !
The outro of "I Appear Missing" . . . . . . . . ! ! ! ! ! !
This is exactly what i needed.
They don't really play "I never came" live anymore, lucky those who were there that night...
Ohmuhgawd! We live in a marvelous time - 20 years from now I'd still be rocking out to new age muzac when I'm 50.

My girlfriend did the same thing for my birthday, We're seeing them in Brooklyn this December, can't wait! I love her so much.
Such a beautiful performance - QOTSA exceeds and slowly reaches the level of GOAT rock bands level!
The transition between Smooth Sailing and Little Sister was fantastic
Awesome performance, I love Troy and Mikey's backing vocals, really great lineup.
Their passion soothes me so nice.
I know. I think that made it even better in my mind. I mean just the calm, graceful verses combined with the kick-ass chorus. Just awesome
