    Hello TH-camrs today ill be showing you guys how to replace a spark plug on a 2 stroke dirt bike. The procedure is pretty much the same with all bikes, 2 stroke and 4. If you have a 2 stroke and you are not sure of when the last time it had a spark plug change this may be the reason your bike is not starting. You always wanna keep a fresh spark plug in your 2 stroke. You should change them about every 4 rides on a two stroke. They are cheap and will keep your bike running great if changed appropriately!

    • @bamtracing2624

      Yeah you probably just need to wiggle it loose with some pliers or channel locks. Its made of rubber so dont be too rough on it just wiggle it enough to break it loose

      The manual suggest 2.5 turns out. jf ur not sure what I mean just turn your idle screw all the way in, not tight but just as many turns as you can get out of it and the turn it 2.5 turns to the left. And like my buddy said below just play around with it thats just a good starting point

    • @qeyse1of145
      @qeyse1of145 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      subtoxic In my 125s once their broken in I run them 40:1 but when they have fresh rebuilds 32:1 like the manual suggest. On my 250 2 strokes 32:1 premium pump gas. would like to find a little higher octane without converting to VP.

      If your bike still isnt starting with a new spark pug you may have a dirty carb or a bigger issue. a motor needs 3 components to run: Spark (electrical system & plug), Air (airbox, carb, reeds), and Fuel. If you are sure that the bike does run and it is just hard to start then you may need to clean your Main Jet and Pilot jet in your Carburetor. You can find plenty of tutorials on TH-cam on how to do it. I might even do my own once I get my current projects running.

    I have a problem which i really need to fix.
    The bike that i have in my profile picture is the bike that i own and have the problem on.
    It is a KTM 85 2-Stroke.
    The problem is that before i could easily start it with around 2-3 kicks maximum.
    Now, on this apperant day, i start the bike, good as normal, and it dies on me.
    I think weird, let me check the gas, the gas is ok but for good measure let me fill it up.
    I fill the bike up and try to start it again.
    It wont start, i clean out the brand new spark plug i got and it still wont start. I put the choke up and it has some life on the first kick.
    But then it gives up.
    Please help, i would apprechiate it dearly 😷

    • @bamtracing2624
      @bamtracing2624  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say its time for a carb disassembly and through cleaning, clean all of your jets out with a small wire bristle brush or compressed air. if the bike has low compression and/or seems like it has lost power and isnt as snappy and quick it could be time for a top end rebuild which isnt too complicated. You could do it yourself by watching some youtube videos as you do it. Great thing about two strokes is they are fairly simple to work on. If you end up doing the rebuild yourself make sure to check down in the crank for metal shavings and for play in the crank rod when you take the cylinder off. Hope this helps bud

      Raised Suspension Also make sure to check of your air filter is clean. If not buy a new one. Pro filter makes $10 pre oiled filters for most bikes. If your air filter is too dirty your bike wont run because it cant breathe. Keep rippin and wrenchin buddy 🤙🏾

    • @bamtracing2624

      It could be your carb or your air filter. Always make sure you have a clean air filter. Google best jetting for whatever bike you have and keep your location in mind as well as if you have an aftermarket exhaust which would mean that you would have to find out the best jetting setup with your exhaust setup. I would still run a circuit test on the electrical to make sure there are no shortages. Also want to make sure the bike has good compression. If it has low compression and wont start its definitely long over due for a rebuild. if your cylinder is fine to use throw a piston in there and some new gaskets. Post a video and I may be able to help you.
