Imagine being Genichiro at that first fight though, watching your enemy be so visibly out of practice that he misses his sword for a second when he goes to draw it. Then he damn near kills you in under thirty seconds and you couldn't even scratch him. And he's both _wickedly_ out of practice and incredibly weak at the time. you spend 4 days defeating Chained Ogre ? the hell. The first time my brother hand me the controller was the first time I ever played Sekiro without any tutorial first. He said "fuck it. here, you try it" and I spend probably 2-3 hours defeating it while learning the mechanics. Hence I didn't do the first two mini-bosses of the game. And the longest time I spend on defeating boss was on the Lady Butterfly and Demon the Hatred, took me literally 8-10 hours each. And at that point I actually have grasps on the deflect mechanics yet. I was getting better after defeating Genichiro, and Demon the Hatred boss really knock it out of the window of everything I learned from the game. And Isshin, the great saint is also a challenge, took me probably 5 hours to learn his patterns. and I finished NG+ only in 20 hours (Shura Ending) well I basically kinda struggled with Emma, but the Isshin I learned it kinda quickly since its not really difference from the Immortality Severance ending.
