- Welcome back to the By Blood Alone dlc for Hearts of Iron 4, today i'll create German heavy fighters and show how overpowered and broken they are since the plane designer was launched.

Fun strategy, a recommendation for when you take over the Dutch would might be to puppet and then add resource rights to the Dutch East Indies when you conquer them. You get their full production of rubber, for free, without the usage of any convoys for six years

This is what I've been doing, absolutely game breaking strategy and I love it, the UK stands no chance against you when you can build unlimited planes, even with expensive designs
@@evill01 Yes, that's super important, but if you do it right, the UK is dead in early 1940 so it's just prepping for barb
I always rush synthetic rubber production at this point, makes rubber very easy to get with the bonuses the early game construction provides and the focus adding onto that by increasing rubber production by 2

Fun fact, 100 British divisions spawning in England are actually exiled French divisions when France is being capitulated and becomes an exiled government.

Regular fighters are still better than heavys. Heavys are not the meta and you're better with IC doing light chassis aircraft.

I have no clue why, but I started clapping when Nigel was in the video. No idea why my subconscious decided that was the response required.
Just realized that I wasn't subscribed, while thinking I was this whole time. So now I am.
Just played a U.S. game. They have a 300% research bonus for heavy fighters, which I checked out. It does still work, and gives you the bonus for the medium airframe. Which is honestly way better now than it was before since you can get bombers and fighters out of it.
The caveat to that being engine III's are dramatically better than engine II, so researching that becomes a priority. I don't like using 4 engines if possible. Or even 3.
Try to play as Soviet Union but use only ww1 equipment

When puppeting Dutch East Indy, you can add to demands Resource Rights, so you dont have to trade for stuff which you have conquered... just ayin..
And if you check "Auto Upgrade" for tonks or aircraft or ships, it will automatically generate a new model once you reasearch something better for that thing you are building... for Free.. you do not have to rebuild planes every time you research airframe.. just check the box :)
I did some testing and normal fighters out trade the heavy fighters in terms of IC cost by a longshot, so no heavy fighters are not broken even though they nerfed agility it doesn't actually means that it no longers matter just have a lower impact. So the "META" for fighters is not heavy fighters not even close.
The random 100 division Spawn happened to me today aswell went uk non alligned invaded canada and the exact same happened (which is a utter pain to deal with because of the 0 supply there)
Also im really curious why that happens 🤔

@@hashtagrex how can they receive exiled divisions if no one was capitulated yet (my friend was france) + shouldnt exiled division still show their own country flag?
@@cyriell im not an expert ill be honest, but exiled divisions im pretty sure still have the nation's flag on map, but when selected have a lil flag icon next to the division name.
With your situation, were the spawned divisions equipped or not? one other thing i can think of is that the ai had a bunch of troops in training that hadnt deployed yet, and they rushed the deployment. usually those troops are equipped however
8:55 you do know that the other CAS module gives more ground support attack? why not choose that instead?

I'm torn on the heavy fighters. I did a play through with cheap light fighters and only put 2 guns on them with the best engine with nothing else and massed produced those and it was kindve the same effect. I did however run into manpower issuess.
I think it's more of a "AI don't know how to make plane" rather than heavy fighter being OP. Anything properly designed by player will always be better than AI designed garbage.
Speed is too low , thing won’t be able to hunt any bombers (if constructor of bombers habe Brain cells) and Fighters … meh

Sadly German reich in BBA are so bad in air all of their logistics are getting bomb to dust and have 0 trains because they lost in the air battle against UK

Heavy fighters win 1v1, but their production cost means they will never actually win in a war of attrition.
Except I also showed my losses. I was downing 400 of their planes to 5-10 of mine. Very easy to win an attrition war when I barely lose any planes.

Against AI planes yes, but ANYTHING works against AI planes.
Single engine minmaxxed fighters beats larger ones.
It also means only a major nation can

Alex, when you early war the dutch you can take their mainland and satellite the islands in caribbean for oil. You can also add resource rights on the east indies and the islands for free rubber and oil
you should’ve demanded resource rights from the east indies, you wouldn’t need to trade for them at all and it wouldn’t increase their independence like trade does

Tried a similar strat as Hungary tonight... Joined the Axis really early... USA declared war on Germany in 38... Fighters worked great though!!
they are not overpowered tho , in fact they are worse then L-fighters in every way
but you were fighting nations who have terrible starting planes , you maxedout your doctrine and had stacked advisors and spirits of airforce , also Had numbers advantage (due your production is way higher then these countries)
if you had similar comparable regular fighter you would do better as they are twice as cheap and only marginally worse
every test i seen (and done by me too) proves that not only small fighters beat mediums , but also trade better.
only advantage they offer is bigger range and they might be better for shoting strat/super armored bombers
That bigger range is huge. It massively increases the amount of effective fighters you can have in a single airzone. I see so many people not realize the full implications of large air range.
AND they can pull double duty as CAS/Tactical bombers.

@@Gustav_Kuriga yes , but even with extra tanks(one less module) still beat heavy fighters , and airzone not matters unless you fight in odd places , most Europe fits lights with extra space
@@VarenvelDarakus And I can have heavy fighters on one end of Europe providing support on the other side of Europe. I can easily triple the number of planes in a zone. Instead of having three lines of factories making fewer of three types of planes, I can have one that provides air superiority with passable CAS capability.
You say they are worse at CAS, and I say that doesn't matter so long as I'm the only one that has CAS flying. If they even try flying CAS I can obliterate it. If they try to fly lights I can gain local supremacy with superior range.
The one weakness is being able to afford to produce them in sufficient numbers, meaning they aren't feasible to use as a minor where you won't have the production capacity to create the efficiency of scale.

Just ignore the fact that a 4 engine fighter just becomes a faster strat bomber. Literally can't turn worth a damn. Doesn't make sense, but welcome to the number simulator that is hoi4

I think adding defense turrets isn't worth imo. You can cheapen the production cost by removing those.

@@Pqgers Yeah but not with 1930's planes lmao although the first supersonic plane was from Nazi Germany if I'm not mistaken. One of the wunderwaffen from 1944-45 so not that much time to be build in mass
@@gabrieldossantos1116 The ME-262, I assume is the one you’re thinking? Don’t believe it broke the sound barrier but it did come rather close. The first known supersonic flight was the Bell A-1 flown by Chuck Yeager though it is possible a plane went momentarily supersonic prior to that. If there was a supersonic flight prior the plane likely never landed as even the 262 was known to go out of control around Mach 0.8, if I remember correctly.

Fighters do nothing to help divisions fight, except maybe for Para trooping or Nuclear attacks. Build CAS, CAS is KING!
You literally have no idea how the current DLC changes things then. There are no more airframes that are solely CAS or Fighters. Heavy fighters can also do CAS/Tact.
@@Gustav_Kuriga but those planes are generally worse than planes who specify at their field. Specific CAS will be better than CAS + Fighter
