That man that she speaks of is what any real man hopes to be. Those words don't mean much to us, but they mean the world to her and her man and that's what really matters. She was a strong woman who broke cultural barriers, and smiles like it was all worth it today. Now that's a very beautiful life.
My great grandfather Dewa Singh Rai (married to Hukam Devi) came to Yuba City in the early 1900's, then my grandfather Atma Singh Rai came to Yuba City in 1923. He went back and forth to India and eventually made it up to Port Moody, BC, Canada in the 1940's from Yuba City. Atma Singh had 3 children, my dad Harinder Jit Singh Rai, his twin sister Harinder Jit Kaur Rai and older brother Gian Singh Rai. Atma's wife (my grandma Kartar Kaur Chohan died in 1939 in India). My dad and siblings immigrated to Vancouver, Canada (via Honk Kong, San Francisco) in 1948. Most of us relatives reside in Canada, mostly in British Columbia. My Aunty Sito (Harinder Jit Kaur born Sept.14, 1931) is still alive as of 2024 Dec in Ottawa, Ontario. Harinder Jit Singh died 1984, Gian Singh died 2019.

Some people say that the Mayan civilization of the Yucatan Peninsula may have been influenced in some way by Ancient Indian Vedic culture as there are a lot of noted similarities between the two ancient societies despite being relatively far away geographically speaking. For instance "Maya" in Hinduism is both the name of an Asura (Demon) and a word translated from Sanskrit as "Illusion" or something similar, I'm not an expert.
I think india was influenced by horse culture and ancient Persia/hurrian. Many influences from Turkish/mongol/hunnic/ and Scythian…where they weren’t technically indo european. But people like the Gypsies are Indo european.
Mayan come from India, they were driven out to Sri Lanka and finally undertook voyages to current day Mexico. From their calendar to their Gods are similar to Vedic Gods. Apparently there is even a mention of Mayans in the Rig Veda (To be confirmed).
I have been told by trading back to our families ancestors that we are related . I live in Yuba city myself this is unbelievable !!!! We have proof as well to show !! 😊

Thanks @atxjennifer for the comment and sharing about your daughter's mixed heritage.
This is new. Never heard of punjabis in Yuba who were part hispanic. How on earth did they even end up in this part of Cali?
Punjabis were some of the earliest immigrants to California - going back over 100 years. Many of them worked in farms, railroads etc @NikkiJones
Interesting...never hear of them bieng tied with the regular indian community.
There are quite a few of them in Yuba and in other parts of California and Arizona. This was because of the immigration laws.
Ships and aeroplanes just like the rest of the immrrgrants
