Sikhism is a beautiful religion but then all religions are beautiful. When we go before God he will not judge us on what religion we are, but will judge us on our deeds and actions and on how much we helped people etc. For there is only one creator of all of mankind, he is just called different names by different religions :)
thank u i was really confuse this video help me to change my mind and stop it for getting influenced by the society and people around here idk why everything is changing even in sikh community also
Well I'm pure sikh i have never cutted my hair in addition to i will keep my sikhi with me ever ever forever lastly I would like to say that I become khalsa in 2010 now I'm 25. 🙏Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ke fateh 🙏 I'm only implemented whole of thing which is related with my sikhi Sikh is unique I'm proud to be a khalsa
nikos t we sikh live the way god has made us cutting hairs from of from head body increase the demand of keratin in your body...due to this thoes who had cut thr hairs have problems in future..it is proved scientifically...!!
MEGAPRIVATEXXX dude think about what you're saying, long ass nails gets in the way of everyday life, hair doesn't. A Sikh bathes more times than the average guy, our body is always clean. Hair is beautiful. We will never conform to society's expectation.
+Esoteric Knowledge Think about what you are saying. Your Quote: "We will never conform to society's expectation." But what if, it is a Predominant Sikh society such as Yogi Bhajan's ashram. In that society, you would be expected to keep 5 kakkars and the whole nine yards. Will you still not conform to society's standards? Will you then, cut your hair in rebellion because Society expects you to keep it?
bdjlo2008 your assumption is intrinsically incorrect to the Sikh perspective, we're not conforming just to go against society - we're following the hukum of our Guru. And yogi bhajan did not create anything to me, my faith is with the Khalsa not 3HOs. my Guru said keep the kes so I shall. You don't know the value of hair - so you will follow everybody else in society and cut your hair. Each hair vibrates with naam during simran. i know people who have to put vaseline/oil in their hair because they literally fry their hair during simran. This hair is a gift - it's like someone you love the most gave you a suit or clothing - would you ever cut it and say i don't like this part? No, i don't think so. So I'm not going to do the same - even if everybody else in the world does. The importance of hair is seen throughout many religious cultures, be it Rastafarians, Native Americans, Hindu Yogis, Sufis etc.
no. they don't. we don't. every hair that grows on our body has some scientific importance. when God is perfect, his creation has to be perfect. He didn't give you hair on your palms, because He knew it would be difficult working with them growing there. So, just believe what all he has blessed you with is important to you, just like our parents will not give us anything thats going to harm us. We do not believe in Modification of Body in any way
That's so rational and I personally feel- the best part is," keeping up with your ownself and being strong in One's principles and convitions. It is all the more better that beautiful Sikh ladies are narrating all this excellent thoughts
Well done my sisters . You have done a great work . I love u very much . I wish I could be with u all . Thank you very very very very very very very much again
more and more boys and girls are returning to Sikhi. Girls are not saying clean shaven are better like they used to before. I know so many keep Kesh now and its beautiful to see this Strength & goodness at last
For much of my life, I have never felt attracted to men with a beard. However, in learning about Sikhism and with my alignment of their principles I began see men with a beard in a while new light. For the record, I am a white woman, but have recently found myself attracted to men with a beard - regardless of race, color, ethnicity or religion. There is something infinitely attractive about a man who is his true self and comfortable in his own skin - beard, turban and all. You be you. Sat sri akal.
@pierresogol1 i'm a white singhni (NOT 3ho) who was blessed with amrit before marriage. my husband is a punjabi sikh from a mixed jatt/bhappa background. his parents said that as long as i was amritdhari, it was fine for us to be married. sikhs should use the institution of marriage as an opportunity for sangat, for shared bhaghti. when a gursikh marries a gursikh, nothing else matters. let the zat continue among the weak, they're not necessary for khalsa raj. :)
I’m not Sikh but I absolutely agree with you; a man who has that beard it for me exclaims masculinity, strong and a courage to stand firm against society’s rules that are constantly changing. In retrospect I find a woman who can mirror that courage in the feminine to be a beautiful shining light to encourage others.
because the part of nail we cut is dead part and same is the case with hair u must have noticed when we comb our hair some hairs fall apart and gets stick and roll with the comb and all that hair are dead hair because that is not connected to our skin
Great points. I think growing the hair is a great lesson in life. It shows the children that they should be confident in who they are regardless of how they look, to not be pressured by society, and not to judge others who look differently. However where parents go wrong is when they don't realize that kids (not in India) are facing lots of pressure/bullying because they look different and so kids would question why they keep it and be depressed, so its the parents duty to educate them
plz share it is most precious thing in our life to be a "sikh" n live a sikh life... its happens when guru's hand is upon ur head (kirpa of Guru Nanak dev ji....)
@Themachinistzz Bro, thats hygiene, it is like we comb our hair. the dead hair winds around the comb, and you can see it after combing. Nails are only modifications of the upper dead layers of the skin, they are dead. if you grow your nails you will see that they will broke easily so we cut them because it is not useful for our daily routiine
Honey Singh now ur talking in ego. Its not good to compare ur religion to anyone else. Sikhism is more of way of life then religion. Just focus on yourself and jap naam. Some of our other religious brothers and sisters might take this comment the wrong way. Just say dhan guru nanak for blessing us with sikhi. 🙏🏻
@dhesigal If you want to private message someone, do so. This is a public forum on a public wall in a public place. Yes, she does have a nice name, though.
I was born in Punjab and living in USA and i grew up in SIkh family, I have strong faith in Sikh religion. And living in USA and India i have never met one complete Sikh woman (Even my mom is a sikh and she is amritdhari). And sadly i have to admit in USA most of sikh men and women are sikh by name or in papers but meanwhile those who adopt our religion(Sikhism) e.g white and blacks they are even more devoted to our religion & they do look and live the way SIKH should live.
@aman113 Secondly, speaking of kesh, Guru Gobind Singh Ji asked his Khalsa to keep Kesh, the rest is just interpreation, many of the so called hukamnamas and sayings are from a later time and were made by ordinary sikhs and then attributed to Guru Ji e.g. - "Meynu sikh nahi rehat piyari" - many attribute this to Guru Gobind Singh, but its actually from bhai desa singh.
respect to my sisters & Sikh net, man your do wonderful things for our religion if I came across you earlier you would saved me from whole lot of crapy decisions I've made! live learn brothers & sisters weather your SiKh or not
@aman113 if not then one shouldnt cut their finger nails either - science has prooven that they are made of the same material as hair - keratin - and their growth is also a natural process.
Just an observation; a statement was made as to why would a man want to look the same as everyone else because he shaves and does not keep a beard. Would he not look the "same" as all the Singhs who wear a turban and have long beards? Thus defeating the point of not looking like everyone else? Also, one of the women mentioned that she was in a serious relationship ( 3:52), I was under the impression that in Sikhism women and men are not allowed to be in "relationships" only marriages? I am confused as to where these women are getting their scientific data about hair, proteins etc. They do not seem to know what they are talking about. I hope some one who is educated in Sikhism would be kind enough to clear up some of my points of observation. Thank you!
@hidearCellofGod Thank you for this comment. I agree with you but sure wouldn't want to reply to the person you're replying to myself, as that being and channel is so full of hate and does not deserve to be allowed to participate in any of these discussions.
@aman113 i'm a little confused your logic. while guru sahib's banee is for the whole world, his hukam and rehet are only for sikhs. of course i don't think keeping kes makes one sikh. if a christian keeps long hair, he does not become a sikh! what i mean was that being sikh means keeping kes. it's a totally different thing. the two are not necessarily related.
@dhesigal reading from the guru, understanding the guru, learning from the guru, following the guru's hukam, and accepting his will as sweet. Bhai Gurdas jee said: To be disciple of the Guru is very subtle activity and it is like licking of the tasteless stone. It is thinner than the hair and sharper than the edge of the sword. but he also said that if you take one step towards guru sahib, then guru sahib will take a million steps towards you. :) so reading is surely a start!
@aman113 I thought you would respond in this manner, you do realise that hair is dead too. The only living part of the hair is inside the skin, the part that we see on the outside is dead - go look it up, physical change doesnt mean that it is aloive nor does its colour changing mean its alive either.
live natural , hair have a reason to exist, they protect your skin , they make you look original. I'm sure your skin , your body will give you a clue that it doesn't like it when you cut hair in form of soreness and itchiness.
its not about how big your beard is. LOL Its about keeping your body the way it naturally is and accepting that god made you perfectly the way you are. So if there is a guy who doesn't trim his facial hair and still only has a few hairs on his face - then thats just as perfect as a guy who naturally grows a long beard.
***** the way i see it, it doesn't make you good or bad to do either. Sikhs keep their hair uncut because they believe in accepting themselves the way god made them and focusing on the inside rather than the outside. If someone has a haircut, like myself, that doesn't make them a bad person according to sikhism. You could be a perfectly wonderful person and still trim your hair. And I think people who leave their bodies the way god made them are the ones who have more time to spend on developing their insides, rather than perfecting their outer appearance. Not to say all people with beards focus on their insides. Theres good and bad in everything. Its how you look at it.
@pierresogol1 there's no restriction in sikhi about marrying people of a different race. as long as both are guru's sikhs, caste, race, skin color, the rest don't matter.
I wish if Punjabi sikh girls had thinking like you and pure like you . Waheguru bless Punjabi sikh girls 🙏
I hope to God they don't
Turbans for men not women
That's why I don't want my sons to marry punjabi girls. They know nothing about Sikhi
This folks got sikhi by earning it that's why they are better then one who are born in sikhi and that's why they are not following in right way
Learning Sikhism...
