Am a paraplegic wheelchair user, flew Air India, 2 weeks back , Lko - Mumbai and back .
The staff was very helpful but must say that the ground staff had absolutely no clue how to check in a disabled passenger and to whether allow his (customised) wheelchair upto the airplane door or not.
Mind you, they tried to assist in every way possible but to them all wheelchairs are the same and all disabled people are alike and are boarded the same way .
I hope Air India updates the training of its staff at the check in counters.
I am all praise for the wheelchair attendants and loading staff at the Mumbai and Lucknow airports. They have a very demanding and thankless job and try to do their best.
Our country needs more jet bridges.

Fantastic initiative by Indigo Airlines. Other Airlines must learn from Indigo.

my mother was not allowed to board the flight as i had requested wheelchair services, she was going to chennai from mumbai for her routine check-up to the hospital. Indigo said they cannot let her travel and they cancelled the ticket and initiated refund process. Lately my mom passed away after few days and i think if indigo had allowed to transfer my mom i think she would have not lost her life. :'(

I dont think Indigo had denied borading only because of the wheelchair... There might be some medical reasons for sure... It is common sense tht y wl they refund and go to loss only for wheelchair... There might be some serious medical reasons...

This year in march, in the time of pendamic my dad had a bypass surgery and immedate after surgery me and dad were travelling back to our home town we were in vistara airline my dad is senior citizen and due to surgery my dad was not able to walk and we call for wheel chair the wheel chair came but thr was not any sliding ramp thr were stairs to come out of plane and what vistara air crew do you will shock they call 4 boys from vistara and lift the wheel chair(my dad siting on it) in air and bring it on the ground any of one person unbalanced while lifting wheel chair with my dad bcus my dad is big fat guy, my gona fall straight from plan to ground, any worst thing can happen to him.... secondly due to corona you should not call random 4 guys to pick up wheel chair with the heart patient sitting on it you can’t be so close to him bcs due to surgery patient lost his immunity. I dont know what to do should i complaint or sue to vistara.

The passenger airline staff can surely enrol for Rehabilitation Council of India New Delhi Continuing Rehabilitation Courses and appear in the merit list of candidates to receive training on how to be accessible and inclusive without debarring differently abled children and persons with disabilities from boarding aircrafts even with their parents present to accompany them at the airport.

The year 2022 at Ranchi Airport had the defining moments for Accessibility and Inclusion envisaged by the passenger airline. Airport International Review and Skytrax Airline Awards must now take into consideration all the passenger experiences at all airports and onboard aircraft fleet in India. The Rehabilitation Council of India New Delhi can offer specialised training courses for airline staff on how to interact and respond to the needs of differently abled persons or Divangjan Hopemakers of India.

In underdeveloped countries like India where even able-bodied persons find it difficult to walk safely on the over-crowded roads filled with utterly indisciplined traffic, one might pretty much forget about facilities for those who have physical problems.
