    Thank you for showing the safe and proper way to put these rims on. I've seen them fall off before. Actually 6 of us lifted the passenger rear of a 79 cutlass that just put his on. He put it back on. Luckily for him he made it to the tire store around the corner but not before losing the wheel again.

    Number one reason knock-off wire wheels "back out" and come off is putting adapters on the wrong side of the car. "White means this, n red means that" bullshit go ahead n toss out the window. The left side of the car to some people is passenger side, some its drivers side. It all depends on your viewpoint to determine lect or right. So forget all that bullshit.
    All knockoffs/spinners should tighten to the rear of the car. If you're tightening your spinner clockwise on the passenger side of the car, then you got them backwards. "Righty tighty" is only for the drivers side. Counter clockwise is for the passenger side.
    Some adapters dont come color coded. Some are painted wrong colors. So always remember T.T.R. (tighten to rear).

      I bought adapters and wheels that tighten like a regular adaptor they all tighten clockwise regardless of what side of the car they’re on SMFH I think I got scammed but they’re my first wire rims so now I’ve learnt something today.. my question is, is it safe to just use it like this or get the correct adaptors for the correct side of the wire rims🤷🏼

      @@biggteez12 I would get the correct adapters. Trust me, you don't want one or both backing out while you drive. Wheel will go flying right off.

      There is a lot more to it than Red & White like, the right size & style lug nuts, Using the right kinda hammer (Led hammers only), antiseeze greese in the spinner threds & the condition of the teeth on the adapters or back of the inner hubs. My main point of this vid is to keep people from making mistakes & there rims fall off there cars while rolling.....Thanks 4Watching

    good info! also even if the adapters are not colored, the spinner will be beat on toward the rear of the car against the way the tire rotates, if not the adapter will loosen up, every time... and the rim will fall off... and as far as the lead hammer thing, that is the only (right) way to go!

  • @starion88esir

    That only matters if you don't want them to poke past the fenders. rwd spokes will stick out past the fenders of fwd cars or even rwd vehicles requiring low offsets.

  • @100SpokeRiderz
    @100SpokeRiderz  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yes I still used a led hammer because if you slip & miss the wrench/tool while your swinging a regular hammer it could dent the rim, chip the chrome or bend a spoke & loose spokes = air psi leaking

  • @100SpokeRiderz
    @100SpokeRiderz  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    If there already mounted on tires & aired up bring a sprey bottel of soap&water to spray them down good to check for air leaks. Also check each spoke to see if there loose, check the teeth on the adapters & make sure there in good shape, check the threads on the adapters & inside of the spinners, & check the lug holes on the adapters make sure there not wallowed out. If the rims have no tires mounted you should check the seal on the inside of the rim

    Nice vid an builds.keep up the good wrk!!

    • @100SpokeRiderz
      @100SpokeRiderz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just the normal torque for the lug nuts but I would not use a brass hammer. Yes it would probably work but if you slip & hit the chrome it will leave a mark 4Sure better to stick with a lead hammer even with the hex spinners with the wrench

    Fyi, Formula 1, Indy, CART, Pro Touring, Le Mans LM & DPT Racecars, Sport Car and several other race circut classes use center mounted rime which use the exact same set-ups except a big 38"-40" nut instead of a knock off to hold the rim on, also NASCAR approved sometime in the near future to switch to the same type as well.

    @bigdaddylvbt No you should never use a rubber mallet it just dont have enuff weight to get the spinners on tight. A led hammer is the best choice cuz it is safer if you miss the spinner or bullet tool while you swinging it & hit the rim you dont have to worry about chipping the chrome or bending a spoke.

      On that year Lincoln you have to so a lot of mods to get 13's to fit most people swap out the A-arms,spindles, & brakes from a older towncar from the earlier 90's. 1999-2002 was the last years of the Towncars that was easy to bolt on spokes 2003 & newer they changed the front suspension geometry & made it very difficult to mod

    This is the best video available on this topic.
    Other than being a little long-winded, and some spelling or grammatical errors, it's fairly well done. If possible, please try another video, with a bit less "information," showing only the most important things, and fix the annotations, and you'll have an A-1 demonstration, and the only one of it's kind; the other videos are mostly regarding how to add the 'bling-bling' to your vehicle, showing the gold-plated 100-spoke wheels, with nothing to inform the viewer regarding installation. Peace.

      +Daniel Garcia Most likely, the lug nuts holding the adapter were not tightened correctly. Also, putting the adapter on the wrong side can end up with the spinner falling off. More good videos like the one shown here would benefit viewers. If you try this on your vehicle document it with some video for the benefit others- especially on the vehicle(s) mentioned here, such as the 1990 DeVille.
      At the least, you can review the video to see where you went wrong.

    A 2001 Nissan Maxima is a front wheel drive car so you need FWD rims or Standars off set rims, the rims in this video are Reverse offset for Rear Wheel Drive cars & if you try to put them on your Nissan they will stick out way past the fenders & will put a lot a stress on your suspension parts.

    Beat on toward the rear of the car against the way the tire rotates to put them ON, to take them OFF you have to turn the the other way. As long as they were put on the right way from the start

    Will 14x7 reverse wire wheels knock offs fit on a 2000 mercury grand marquis?

    Yea 14's will fit good wit no mods as long as your stock suspension is in good shape your ride hight will be fine. If you look at my old vids I had a 88 Towncar wit 14's on stock suspension & I put many problem free miles on that car wit that setup.

    Hi anyone has any idea if it ll work for me ?
    My rear back wheel got loose,
    I took off the wire wheel and the teeth(gear ) is kinda a little bit damaged on the adapter AND on the dayton wire wheel.
    I was thinking to try my luck to change the adapter. Any thoughts if it would work to use a brand new adapter on a slighty damaged gear on the wire wheel ?

    • @100SpokeRiderz
      @100SpokeRiderz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would get a new adapter 4sure but the wheel is another story it all comes down to how much damage the teeth on the back of the hub has

  • @100SpokeRiderz
    @100SpokeRiderz  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Mychucks07 13" & 14" all have the same adapters but where you might run into a problem is different brand of rims have different style adapters like you cant use a Roadster rim adapter on a dayton rims & zenith rims adapters are different than Player wire rims ect.ect. So the main question is what brand were the old 13's & what brand were the new 14's ?

    Hitting a gold rim and with spokes , gives me anxiety , I love the rim but probably will have to pass and still can’t do donuts on them that’s weak 👎🏽 would u recommend that hammer on gold ones or does it matter ?

    • @100SpokeRiderz
      @100SpokeRiderz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They make a knock off tool also that would be better on gold than the hammer but if I had gold wheels I would have both the led hammer & knock off tool

  • @marcosdboy7

    What about the type of knock off that takes a wrench "dome spinner" to put on do you still use a lead hammer to pound on

  • @100SpokeRiderz
    @100SpokeRiderz  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @excell420 When you have the hex spinner wit the tool you can use a reg sledge hammer but I must warn you if you slip & miss the tool when your swinging you will hit the rim & dint it or chip the chrome. If you slip up and hit the spokes it can bend them & cause them to be loose & start leaking air so even wit the hex & tool its safet to use a led hammer. Im not sure on the size of the lug nut you need but if the lug nut sticks up pass the stud your gonna have problems

  • @SShorsepower
    @SShorsepower 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    excellent video. So quick question, if the drum or disc brake is too big (bigger than the wire wheel) will the adapter push the wheel forward enough to clear whatever brake setup you have? Or do you need more spacers?

    • @100SpokeRiderz
      @100SpokeRiderz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some people use spacers , some grind the caliper down & some do a combo of both. Sometimes 13's are just too small for size of the ride so 14's & up would be safer

    • @100SpokeRiderz
      @100SpokeRiderz  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you need to grind down the caliper to fit 13's and the safest way is to do a little at a time & test fit the wheel a lot you just want to take off where it rubs

    • @100SpokeRiderz
      @100SpokeRiderz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No you just need the adapter with the correct bolt pattern normal there are universal 5lug adapter & a 4 lug adapter

  • @100SpokeRiderz
    @100SpokeRiderz  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @jcrazzy1 In order to do it the right way the rim would need to be diss mounted from the tire, unsealed, 2 spokes replaced, then the rim would need retrued/balanced, then resealed. To be honest unless its a Dayton or Zenith its really not worth it better off just replacing the rim.

  • @100SpokeRiderz
    @100SpokeRiderz  11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I think it all comes down to the main look he wants I would not want them to poke out pass the fenders because that limits you on how much you can lower the car. I would rather be tucked in so it would set low but honestly Ive never built a FWD car so Im no expert

    Every time you hit the spinner or whatever you call it, i would start screaming out 'i got that off black, caddiliac, midnight drive' Because of macklemores song white wall and how he talks about wire wheels and white wall tyres haha

  • @100SpokeRiderz
    @100SpokeRiderz  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    They can be fixed but it cost so much to fix a wire rim unless its a Dayton or Zenith it would be cheaper to just buy a new one. Also once you go pass 18" its better to get more spokes like the 150's & 200's spokes cuz they hold up better

    Sounds like its rubbing somewhere elese because the Caliper is hooked to the spendel & that all turns when the rim turns also if the Calipers were rubbing on the rim it would do it all the time when the rim spins not just during a turn.

    I have some 13x7 but don’t fit my 97 Lincoln town car signature, the caliper doesn’t let the wheel go in all the way. Could I just use wheel spacers or do I have to grind down the calipers?

    • @100SpokeRiderz
      @100SpokeRiderz  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you use the spacers you need to get longer studs or there will be less amount of threads to hold the lug nut on. I would just shave the caliper down a little at a time till it clears the inside of the wheel

    • @CesarHernandez-my2ug
      @CesarHernandez-my2ug 5 ปีที่แล้ว
