Going along with the bottles for glass, it would be a neat little Easter egg if very rarely one of the bottles you pickup has a random note in it like a letter in a bottle lost at sea
@@filip7527 thats an idea as well, could be main goal: fine treasure map, odds = very low. If treasure map isn't found on pickup, randomly roll off a chance for a random note with a phrase or letter. Odds = more
It would be a cool idea if you could drop the walls that are closest to you. That way when you are walking inside or taking a screenshot inside you can see everything inside the house. Just some thoughts. The game looks great! Keep up the good work!
Perhaps some of the glass bottles can spawn a treasure map inside them? It can be a extremely rare find that can lead to treasure or perhaps a secret merchant or quest?
you should also think of adding the depth of field setting into the game rather than only for the screenshot, it looks really nice when things that arent in focus are blurry.
That water shader looks unbelievable, how long did it take you!? Something that I think would fit the game well is a technology system to give players access to things such as glass over time!
@@cheddar9871 That's definitely an impressive feat, by far the best water shader I've seen even in AAA games. I'm guessing you coded that by hand instead of shader graph?
@@Nick-Games9 thanks! 🙏 A big challenge was to find the perfect middle ground between realistic and stylized water. The very first version was coded, but later on the refined version was made using Amplify Shader Editor so it's easier to understand and make chages for anyone in the future. I like ASE a lot more than Unity's Shader Graph. It gives me all the freedom I'd have coding myself.
Man, can't wait to play Btw add some underwater stuff like treasure hunt, deep fish hunt , boats who needs a lot of work to be preapred for underwater hunt ( mask and O2 machine ) , lost itens from sink boats , and so on !
I hope you release it on switch! I know you were just a smidge short for it on the kickstarter but I hope you get some extra money from some sponser or other donation. That would be wonderful if you could make it onto a console like that
I like that screenshot mode! I would find it very helpful to set the DOF by clicking on one point of the screen an set this as fokus point. I'm looking forward to the demo to test all by myself.
How's the progress with the content going? I think that's the most important thing right now. You can have all the polish and graphics but without enough content, people are going to be disappointed.
Heyy heyy heyy!!! What about adding crabs 🦀 on the beach??? I know a game named "Islands Castway 2" which is quite similar but the story in it makes it more good. Plus you can add food or cooking things to give or deliver to the other characters or eat your own!! Adding deers hunting animals All great❤️❤️❤️
I made two shaders for that. One uses a Bayer Matrix to dither the object while it stays opaque and therefore continues receiving and casting shadows. For that you might want to google for Dithering Transparency or Screendoor Transparency. The other shader clips the pixels based on alpha threshold values and a black and white texture. So it's rather "dissolving".
The water is awesome! However imo you should add some transparency/ blurriness for the splash particles as ur player runs through them they look kinda odd and billboard like.
yeah i would like to see more customizable characters, and the walk cycle strikes me as a bit odd love the shaders and the building system though, nice to see you're listening to fan feedback
Scheduled to March 2021. Currently working on getting the first demo released Sep 2020 for the backers on Kickstarter. Join us on discord for updates on the development!
I know you'll be reading this and think "yeah yeah" but... online co-op pls! i would love to play this with my friend(s?) and share an island. The water is wonderful but now it needs fishes and crabs!
Why are you working on a screenshot mode when there's very little gameplay built out? Seems like a 'nice to have' but the project gameplay progress seems a little chaotic.
Can you add an option where i can close shadows as things that shadow cover seems a bit too dark that you can't really see without removing the shadow which either by settings or cutting down that tree
This game really needs animals!
Maybe like some fish in the water or some rabbits bouncing around?
Congrats on 200k!
Exactly, maybe some foxes, squirrels climbing the trees when Len comes by, some birds on top of the houses flying around.. What a fantastic idea (:
I'm sure that's planned. They are going to be doing NPCs and that as well.
It would give more life to the island

Maybe a letter fromDear Mom, hey son I am thicc plis find n slav me
this would be a really good way to add lore and history
God, the water is looking beautiful! Great work my man!
😊👍
@@cheddar9871 hey mate u helped in that Water Shader?
@@kingbling7571 as Julian mentioned in the video, I made it
That's the best water I've seen in a indie game. Nice!
Thanks! 😊
Your welcome, son!
After raft yes
@@monkcode1255 And Sea of thieves, but that's probably not a indie
@@wooksongdev6601 i dont think taht a indie..................... so big world.......
If building could be connected to enviroment would be sick, like building into cliff and stuff like that
Your water looks stunning. I keep replaying the video to look at it. Definitely inspired to work on my water shaders more.
finna get it just to stand by water all day. also, the houses look really cute, defo gonna love messing around with the building mechanics :D
As usual, I'm watching right when I see the upload! Love the regular devlogs!
That screenshot mode is sooo good! I can see myself spending so much time building all sorts of things and posting them on Steam and on Discord 😁

Beatiful Graphics 👍🤙
Good video and good game👍🏻
So sick dude amazing work
I honestly think you deserve more attention because in my opinion lens island could really become the next Minecraft keep going bro :)
Perhaps some of the glass bottles can spawn a treasure map inside them? It can be a extremely rare find that can lead to treasure or perhaps a secret merchant or quest?
Amazing! This game gets more and more polished every video.
Perhaps there could be a rare chance the glass bottles have a message in them.
Beautiful

Cant wait to play this game.
Please release it at reasonable price.
Probably the best looking indie game ever! Hats off devs!
Series should be called Devlog in my opinion.
That water shader looks unbelievable, how long did it take you!? Something that I think would fit the game well is a technology system to give players access to things such as glass over time!
Took me about a week to make it. Then another week doing changes based on feedback and requests from Julian.

All great❤️❤️❤️
You can make a furnace which player can cook food in or smelt stuff
Will this have local coop?
The building mode is amazing, but you could use icons, instead of using a list to change between the building materials.
This game is gonna be so dope! Is not much but I will donate to the kickstarter
How do you disable Gameobject with that Fade to transparent effect ? :O
Shader alpha
I made two shaders for that. One uses a Bayer Matrix to dither the object while it stays opaque and therefore continues receiving and casting shadows. The splash is a particle effect. It is not part of the water. It is still in early stages and will probably be improved later on.

I wish this would come for consoles as well!
Can you make it so we can customize your characters + a crafting bench would great for the making of tools and some interior would be appreciated
Can you add a story and background info like what is thus place and what is your goal and stuff
Ur game is so beautifull
You should add Multiplayer Its gonna be Epic
Any messages in bottles?
Was the building, editing, and painting built from scratch or is there help from a tool kit by chance?
From scratch :)
Do you create the music and sounds all by yourself?
Music yes :) SFX are a mix of library sounds and own recordings
Sir will u add big animals like Bear or other animals like Panther please.
I am your new subscriber
heads up you spelt diary wrong in the title
Could this be possible multiplayer?
This game feels like a playing with toys. Idk how to convey that feeling...
Greatness
Passion for what you're doing
make the movment on water alittle slower and add more animationt to the character while walking if u can
Is this going to be on Windows only?
Also Mac and plans for Switch in the future
@@cheddar9871 So no Linux huh 😔

Can you please give us a tutorial of how to convert all materials and textures to one single texture as you are doing in Len's Island??? PLEASE!!!! :(
Once you get 200k reach out to some sponsors, I think the extra cash would help u a lot.
