    Seeing your doctor for your diet is some of the best advice. Everybody is different so a normal diet might not work for you. After blood work my doctor got me on a fairly high carb diet of fruit and I instantly noticed better cardio and less joint soreness.

      What science backs eating mostly fruit and carbs decreasing muscle soreness? Potassium in bananas, but that is minor.

    Great video coach, always putting out information that is useful and applicable. I have had no formal training in physical fitness or dieting and have had to learn the hard way, looking everything up and doing the long research. Everything coach v mentions in this video is spot on! When I started getting in shape a little over 4 years ago, I weighed 226 lbs. at 5'10" I hit weights, made gains and stayed at around 212. Then a year ago now I started fight training and now I stay at 190 and at 10% body fat and feel much better, quicker and light on my feet. I eat healthy for the most part but treat myself from time to time so I don't get miserable. Staying hydrated, eating lean and staying away from sugar for the most part, with the exception of some fruits and some clean carbs for a natural energy source. Here is the kicker, I am 55 and feel better than I did at 30. Don't be lazy or afraid to put yourself out there, you are you own limitation, don't defeat yourself!

      @@50yearoldlerookie84 I’m 55 as well and I am 5foot 7 and 170 pounds. I’m more like 22 percent body fat and I don’t think you are at 10 percent champ. Do hydrostatic body fat check. Not hating, just keeping things in context.

      @@itguru2037 At the time I posted, I was in fact at 10%, but not now unfortunately. I suffered an injury, Distal Biceps Tendon Rupture, left arm. It has been a hard road to recovery after surgery and a year and a half later. Now I am 56 5'11" & 195 at 18%. I must admit, I do feel better at a higher Body Fat Index but getting my strength and stamina back after being injured and 2 bouts with COVID is testing my inner self to say the least. I always keep things in context BTW any other way is just self deception. Thanks for the reply brother.

    Ive been considering, going from welterweight to middleweight but i feel im not ready, i would have to put 5lbs more, probably 3lbs wolud be of water....im better waiting 1 year

    Hey coach! I wouldn't consider my self fat or anything like that but I do have a little bit of weight on me at the moment. I've started doing some light sparring with my buddies - think this is still a safe approach or is my weight gonna be an issue? I'm 5'9 178 pounds

    I find it really hard to determine what I should eat. Because you have prepmeals for losing fat, bulking and dry training. I just lack the knowledge to determine something like that. But I don't know if I should visit a nutritionist or trainer. I would prefer to learn it on my own, I don't got my money right.

      Get that money up first,
      Short answer: eat clean food
      At the end of the day eating brownies and bacon cheeseburgers might taste good and even be good for calories but it won’t give you optimum performance. Try to eat meats veggies and fruits for about 80%+ of your diet with only 20% of it from junk food or maybe the occasional bowl of ice cream (remember you can eat whatever you want, it’s just about moderation) eat for fuel not just to eat
      for me I just go off of feel. Try to be in tune with your body and how reacts to certain foods. For me pasta is super tasty but makes me feel so weighed down. I like a good amount of meat but tooo much makes me feel queasy a little bit. I like lots of fruits and veggies and nuts, because I have a very fast metabolism so I need things that can be processed fast. I normally eat oatmeal after working out in the morning with some banana and protein powder+pb and honey that lasts me until lunch, and then I’ll eat a chicken salad or chicken and rice.

    This is less of a worry for lower weight classes (105lbs-120lbs) if anything lower weight boxers need to gain weight & eat excessive amounts of fats, carbs & sugars since so much calories are being lost during training.

    Then how are heavyweights formed. Cos I doubt they wake up 240Ibs at 12%bf there has to me serious weight lifting protocols. And most of them except Aj and wilder are fat and high body fat look at ruiz fury brezeale whyte etc

    what is the max amount of pounds you should lose in a cut I only have to have to lose like 7 pounds in 3 months but I see people who weigh 20 pounds more than I drop to my weight so quickly?

      Controversial question, cutting a lot of weight before a fight seems to be an "old mind set". imho the less weight you cut the better because your body is less compromised but im no expert.

    Coach V I love your videos and have a lot of respect for you but I’d like to point out that 6% body fat is ridiculously and unhealthily lean. I come from a bodybuilding background and the most shredded guys in the world are stepping on stage at 6% body fat. I’d say most fighters are in the ring between 8-15%. The huge majority of the population struggle to even maintain 10% bf because it is so incredibly lean. It takes being a genetic outlier to consistently maintain that level of lean and even then you most likely aren’t performing optimally.

    Shit I got destroyed in sparring and it was an amauteur boxer coming off a loss and I got destroyed thank god I didn’t film that hell nah , just imagine the girlfriend watching that video fuk no she would of said I want you to beat it up the way that guy beat you in sparring.

    6% fat is like a body builder fat its too low ur probobly gonna be tired going into the fight probobly 8% to 12 but not 6

      Yeah typically I’d say boxers range from 12-20%, I think what has him confused is those calipers that don’t give an actually accurate body fat range you’re in
