- The Walhalla area has some amazing tracks and they all run in such a way that makes it perfect for day trips and not having to spend to much time traversing between tracks. This trip was defiantly a cracker and we hope you enjoy what we have put together.

Finally someone tackles Old Flats on camera! Seen an 80 rolled up there few yrs back! And not wrong about Junction Hut. One of the best spots in the high country. Great vid guys!!!!

They are such a capable bus without to many mods needed. Decent set of rubber and will keep up with alot of cars

Have done the easy side of flats a couple of times so though id checking out the hard side coming down to Donnelly creek track.
Did it today (17/2/24) solo and itvwas challenging and very fun. Rear bar damaged and a rim damaged. Not for the faint hearted. Its a bit committing once your on it. Nowhere to turnaround. 😂
Haha it’s a different beast to the normal flats isn’t it. Definitely once you start your committed. Glad you enjoyed it though bloody fun track
We just got back from a weekend at o'tools and well the first night heading there my mate took us down flats track not knowing there was an easier way to get there,i had a fully loaded jayco outback swan on the back of my next gen ranger,stupidest idea and scary as hell,had it jack knived on a hill but was luck to make it to o'tooles.
Yeah that would be have been very interesting towing down flats lucky you didn’t head onto the section we did in this video 😂

Just watching with the young bloke now boys..... most of these track can they be done with an unlocked 4WD?
They can mate, Dave didn't use any lockers in his y62, the gu that was winching is unlocked on 33s and the silver gu is unlocked on 35s
@@4x4brothers yeah that what Im running at the moment a GU with 33's.

@@scowievideos7931 I wouldn't tackle the two harder ones without a winch unless you have some capable vehicles with you but if you have the winch you will be fine mate unless wet

I’m taking a group of friends from NSW to Fultons so it’s good to see it’s current conditions.
Did anyone climb the Rocky section at the top of Flats? I’ve done flats a few times but the last time I broke a CV half way up and had to reverse all the way back to OTooles. It also looks a lot more rutted than the last time I did it.

Have driven the top of flats a few times. Stay hard left is the safest option up

Great video. What was the track that you got all the punctures? Think I might avoid that one. I hope to be going up that way in a couple of weeks in my 2006 discovery 3. Fultons creek track also looked like a bit of a challenge. I’m hoping for easy to moderate, they looked hard to extreme.

Cheers for watching mate. The flats were all on flats track funny enough. That's the hard side of the track though. If you do the one we were talking about with the switchbacks it's fairly moderate. Also Fulton's was another hard line which there is a easy way around also. In the wet Fulton's can be a little tricky sometimes heading south to North. Donnellys and Williamson's are very easy and more so just rough roads. There is a really step hill that runs off of Williamson's also which is alot of fun.

@@4x4brothers thanks for the speedy reply. I’m trying to work out a plan for a weekend trip not too hard but not too easy. No Flat track haha not that one. Friday night stay at Cooper Creek then head in. Can you recommend a good plan of attack with a camp around Donnellys track and some moderate tracks. Only just got the discovery 3 a few months ago and haven’t had her in the bush. 20 years ago me and my mates were like you guys and doing the very hard tracks, but for the last 10 years I have not had a 4B so I’m out of practice. Would appreciate any advice
@@darrenrichardson6936 have you got a winch mate? Most of the tracks off the tracks won't be to bad unless really really wet. The harder stuff usually has easier parts around some obstacles. If you grab a topo map and check out the Contour lines stay away from the ones with the lines closer together till you get the feel again for it

Haha yeah hand winch is only good for emergencies. Stick to the flatter stuff and you will have a ball. When you get a loop worked out send us a msg on instagram or Facebook and we can let you know our thoughts
Great video. Did you guys enter the old flats directly opposite otooles? Last time I checked 10-15 years ago the dozer had dug huge impassable washouts at the bottom. Can you get round them now?
Cheers mate for watching, yep there is a entry opposite each entry to otooles and meet up at the start of the climb. We last drove it 2 years ago and it's deterriated a fair bit since
@@4x4brothers last time I did it was about 20 years ago as a passenger in a rag top pinzgaur triple locked 6x6. That thing was an animal. Glad we can still get at the track. They made it hard for a while there with huge culvits
@@benjamink591 that would be a beast of a truck to ride in.
I'm not 100% it's exactly the old flats if you look in the drone footage there looks like a track just to the right of it in the bush but it's way better than the newer bottom section

Destroyed my rear diff on flats track about this time last year. Took 8hrs to get it winched from the steps after the last right hand bend, to where the bypass is
Thats a fair mission mate, how did you end up getting it out, on a trailer or fix it there?
@@4x4brothersmanaged to force the diff free after skull dragging it up the hill, limped it out to jorgensens then trailer back home to Moe. Was on a solo trip with my kids and hiked our way backed to the junction. Managed to get a message out at the junction/Donnelly creek track intersection
