My family had one from 1952-53 until 1968. Green. I was still a few years too young to drive it before it was relegated to dump runs before it's eventual demise. Great lines. The tail lights look similar to a modern Chrysler 300. I don't know how my parents liked or disliked the fluid drive.
When I was a teenager my neighbor had a 1949 Desoto 4 door we had so much fun in that car he drove it everywhere from are town to San Francisco to San Jose Sacramento and everywhere in between. One more thing we went to the Good Guy's car show when they didn't even charge to get in just for parking at the Pleasanton Fair grounds in California
@@ScottieDTV yes at the Pleasanton Fair grounds in California in 1985-86 is when they barley got started people used to set up to sale right in the grass parking they stopped all that and went commercial and it got bigger we just had to pay for parking now parking is $ 10 and gate is $17 so your already $ 27 plus gas that is why I support the smaller car shows swap meets Sacramento California has a huge swap meet they broke away from the Reno Hot August Nights they got in a conflict with them then they moved to the arena in Sacramento then had to move from there because they tore the arena down to build the basketball team the Sacramento Kings a new stadium to play in. Now the the Big Sacramento swap meet is at the cal expo fair grounds I haven't been yet and haven't been to the Hot August Nights in Reno in a long time Gang's started to mess it up at night but during the day it was great they have the auto museum there that they switch out cars all the time in California they have the Black Hawk museum that's a large auto museum where the wealthy rich live or it used to now it's in Sonoma county or Napa these people use a golf cart to drive around in the inside of there homes that's home huge they are like as page as a football field.
This is what I drove in school, it was my first car, I lost my virginity in this car, same color too. Best memory besides the loss of my virginity was that I wanted an 8 track so I added a 12 volt battery in the trunk and would listen to air supply, I'm all out of love and when the battery would get low the song would be in slow mo. I should have not tradeed it for a 1966 metromite from the navy yard
I had a dark green one back in the day that was a family hand me down that I took to high school. Loved the car but it burned a lot of oil. Without power steering it was a little difficult to park, but it was a wonderful car.
Beautiful, elegant car! A great uncle of mine had one of these. The Wayfarer was at least a two year model, beginning in 1949. It also came as a roadster, and the 1949 had side curtains instead of roll-up windows. They now sell for some serious bucks.
Just about as good as they get, Scottie. The craftmanship looks pristine. Some really good decisions also were made on this project. They don't ALL have to do a 4.3, 0-60. It's sometimes more important to be CORRECT. Hence our complete, sight & sound, all the right questions interview, to the fastenating history of this very rare Classic Beauty. What a beautiful car there they did an excellent job on the restore. I wish there were pictures of this car before the restoration this was a great gift to this guy's father.
The first car that I ever worked on towards restoration (never completed) was one of these that my friend pulled from the field at his grandma's place. We started by removing the floors because they were so rotted. We cut them all out with hammer and cold chisel. Lots of skinned knuckles. This is a beautiful restoration of what it would have been. Thanks for sharing Scottie.
I enjoyed this presentation, and remember the "Wayfarer" name on old cars from when I was a kid, growing up in country Australia. A few years ago, now...
We have a 1950 Plymouth in town that kinda looks like it has been sitting for year's all there stock it can be brought back to life sitting in the drive way on cement
I own a 1950 wayfarer two door sedan. Dodge also had two other model's of the wayfarer. They a 2 door business coupe and a 2 seater roadster. All 49 through 52.
As to your question, were they all the same, the answer is no. Dodge built, in 1950 alone, 65,000 wayfarer two door sedan's 7,500 wayfarer two door business coupe's And a mere 2,903 wayfarer roadsters/ sportabout's. This was just in 1950. As for 1949 and the years 51 and 52 you can Google that info or go through Wikipedia to get the results.

Like a driving Ms Daisy movie...

Perfectly elegant car for a gentleman! 👌... There was a car long back with some kind of resemblance to this. Landmaster.
