I always appreciate how you show us how to cook a full meal, even if it's not the main purpose of the video! I sometimes watch videos for side-dishes and draw a blank when thinking of something to eat it with!
I'm Thai and I approve this. You could also press the garlic cloves with the blade of a knife as well. Simpler. This dish goes well with porridge too :)
lol Fire extinguisher on the ready. For non-Thais, this dish is sometimes stir-fried and flambéed by street food vendors for theatrical effect. I don't suggest you try it at home unless you know what you're doing. lol
В Тайланде последний раз были 5 лет назад, и сегодня я вспомнила как мы всегда заказывали это блюдо , решила найти семена и посадить. Я их нашла и заказала, посажу и буду готовить😋😋😋.
Greetings from Finland. We really do youse those branches and leaves tied together in the sauna. :D Usually the bath broom is made out of birch, which is a common tree in Finland. The bath broom is called Vihta in finnish.
@@FutureNeighbor The smell is so good!! Glad you have tried it. Usually the leave will wither during the sauna session, so usually the branches are changed after one use, but usually this is tradition only during the special occasiosn now days :)
@@xraytooth It should help with relaxation, surface blood circulation, muscle and joint aches, removing some dead skin cells etc. The birch leaves also contain essential oils which could help with inflammations. So there might be some benefits and it also feels and smells nice :D The way we use it might just seem a bit odd because you kind of hit yourself with the bundle of leaves.
Your comment made me laugh out loud, I was imagining what you might sound like saying this to a bright eyed salesman in a Japanese department store. Adorable.
There's a lot type of dish using kangkung in indonesia, you can mix it with porridge, stir fry (using shallot, garlic, little bit of ginger and oyster sauce), or just blanch and eat it with sambal 😆
This is one of my favorite dishes and I had no idea it was a Thai dish. I grew up eating these at Cantonese restaurants and didn’t know the name of it for the longest time lol
*NICE* rice maker. That thing is crazy expensive here in the UK. Also, thank you another use of doenjang as my pot has been sitting in the icebox unused for a month now.
So glad to see this on your channel. When I was a little girl, mom always made this for breakfast and we kids would love to see the pan on fire when mom threw in the green.
Thanks for the recipe. I am always interested in all the Asian greens I see but never know exactly how to enjoy them. Definitely, need to try more of them. As always still love your videos.
I just discovered your channel like today! Dude I never thought I could make a a Chan’s here in the Poconos!! Thank you for practical measurements. I can order from H-Mart so life is good. Thank you again
When I was in Thailand I used to have this all the time soooooo good I love morning glory although they don't call it that in the US in the asian markets you have to look for water spinach I made it though and it tastes the same. But yes love love love this dish thank you for the recipe
Love the doenjang tip for this dish! I'm Vietnamese and grew up eating this with fish and pork dishes. You are right, you don't see this at restuarants in the US.
I’m surprise to see this recipe on your channel. It’s one of my fav dishes. The full name of this dish is “Pad Pak Boong Fai Dang”, Fai Dang means red hot. You’ve been to Thailand, so you know what’s the meaning of red hot here.
Wowww, I would totally have it on the side of a juice grilled steak, yuuuummm, thank you for sharing. I laughed so hard at the little steam train in the kitchen hahahahahah choo choooooo!!!🚂 Blessings neighbors
Viewers, if you're REALLY pressed for time when trying to get loads of side dishes together, Kewpie Deep Roasted Sesame Dressing works really well with wilted, pan-fried Morning Glory and crunchy brocolli florets. I've never added anything to just the dressing, but maybe you could add some other things, like a teeny bit of honey or even chopped tofu or quinoa? I wonder if that would work. One way to find out. Thanks for always inspiring me Dan-yul! xo
Am I the only one that noticed Daniel said "garlic stems" when he added in the morning glory stems?? LOL Anyway, the world market in Jeju is a rip off. They sell these, but it's maybe five stalks in one pack for 4,000 won. -_- I miss eating morning glory and the canola flower stems so much, but I'd have to buy at least 10 packs to get a decent amount to cook..T_T
What other greens could I use? I don’t think I’ll be going to the Asian grocery an hour away any time soon, or going food shopping myself any time soon really. Woohoo social distancing.
This is one of my favorite Asian vegetables but morning glory is considered an invasive plant and is illegal to have here in Arizona. I guess it does a number on the waterways by choking them out. Too bad.
I've never seen this vegetable here in Sweden, even in my local asian stores. Do you think another leafy green would work as a substitute? Maybe spinach? Ofc it wouldn't be exactly the same, but maybe similar enough?
Would they be called another name ?? I am looking to find seeds to grow my own and find only the vines which do not look the same ... Suppose growing my own would class me as SOCIAL REBUKING ?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 .... 😬 great show. I'm dying to try this. We love to grow our own foods. Tha is for sharing also DanYool !)D

My family (i'm Thai) eat this dish with porridge/congee/boiled rice!! You should give it a try!
My mom always made me split the stems vertically. Helps with cooking and makes it easier to eat. ☺️
I'm Thai and I approve this. You could also press the garlic cloves with the blade of a knife as well. Simpler. This dish goes well with porridge too :)
And if you wanna burn your house down you can try ผัดผักบุ้งไฟแดง lmao

I miss it! That faint smell of birch as you sweat it out!! Question: How long does that leave last for? Is it newly made every season?

That rice cooker looks intimidating to use: it's like it came from the future

Split the stem, you'll never know what you get inside those hollow stem. But as a heads up, usually worm eggs or just worm.
Ponco Rainskiandono 🤢
I'll eat the worm before he eats me. That is the way to go!
This looks so nice and healthy and eat to make!!
I already know its yum 😋 😋 😋 😋 😋 😋
Love the music in your vids and your production in general. Thanks.

Water spinach is classified as a noxious invasive weed in most of the US which is why its hard to find here
This is kangkung in indonesia. Tradisionalfood

Hurray! You pronounce “sauna” correctly! 🇫🇮
This is one of my favorite Asian vegetables but morning glory is considered an invasive plant and is illegal to have here in Arizona. I guess it does a number on the waterways by choking them out. Too bad.

Is this vegetable similar to Ong Choi?
Yes, you're correct
Is something wrong with gochujar?? I can’t get to the page
sarah razavi Hmm~ it seems to be working fine from our end... 🧐Is the page not loading? (Are you on an Android phone)
No. I’m getting a message that says Safari can’t connect because it can’t establish a secure connection to the server 😟
이 음식을 팟팍붕이라고 합니다. 👍👍🥢
In Indonesia Kangkung
Healhy 😊
Did you just say Birdseye chili is not hot?? Your spice tolerance might be on Mark Weins level
I've never seen this vegetable here in Sweden, even in my local asian stores. Do you think another leafy green would work as a substitute? Maybe spinach? Ofc it wouldn't be exactly the same, but maybe similar enough?
Hanna Bergwall i wondered the same. Have a ton of spinach to use up.
