That was cool to see Cathy, I watch her channel too! Skating in NYC is definitely on my bucket list, it looks amazing.
I really like the freestyle session in Bryant Park (even if you do have to get up on the crack of dawn) because it's for all all levels. I didn't realize that until I read the description online. And thats great for people like me who are just starting who need ice to practice. Its a little expensive but if you are new to skating and are maybe doing a LTS class, thats an option for people who live close by.
