Watching the scenes on a shitty indie look camera, makes it look like a cheap budget film, you realize just how much cinematography elevates a movie. The performances need it in a way far more than people think.
Best movie to start the year. Tarantino's finest! classic tarantino, like pulp fiction or reservoir dogs. if you love PF or RD you'll love the eight too!
I can respect that, as a piece of cinema, these two are a toss up, but as a black man who's still a kid at heart I really wish I would have had a character like Django to look up to as a small kid. Tarantino usually gets great performances out of everybody in his films, Di'craprio was good but don't sleep on the German Bounty hunter who trained Fox, he did a great job as well I thought.
You can't really appreciate how much goes into a movie like this until you see these behind the scenes clips. Interesting how many of these are not the ones they used in the movie, the lines are almost all different in the actual movie than these many of these clips.
It's all in the studio editing and production. There's a video where they even show how they enhance the color of the background, sky and clouds and trees etc. Truly remarkable how far computers have taken the filming industry into the digital age.
Yeah but do they somehow pull the sound out of THIS original recording? Or do they go back to studio and have the actors say the lines again? Japanese animation style... That was really the question I was asking. Either way it's F-ing amazing.
Since musicians can take an already finished composition and eliminate certain elements such as the guitar, the drums etc. and be left with vocals or just piano, the same can probably be done in the studio where they eliminate the sound of the snow and add in whatever other sound effects, like Sam's knife making that "ting" sound when he pulled it away from Grouch Douglas' throat, or even when he clipped the handcuffs that John Ruth gave him to put on in the snow. Probably some of the gunshots of those guns back in the day as well. But as far as the lines are concerned, I think they just do several takes with different dialogues and then the producers choose which is best when they edit and make the final cut. I would think the only lines being done in the studio are the ones that don't need to be done in that hellish environment (because you won't notice the difference) and the ones where the camera isn't on the actor's face while he's speaking. Also, don't forget in these videos we're hearing the sound of the camera that is filming the takes, whereas the film itself is recorded off that furry mike they're holding with the long boom that is a much higher-end microphone.
In films it can be common for the majority of dialogue, especially from outdoor or action scenes, to be completely rerecorded after shooting. However, remember the audio you're hearing is from the secondary behind the scenes camera and not from the specialised boom mics nearer to the actors.
one of the best movie id ever seen!!! cruel and amzing plot twist. Western movies need a lot of movie like this especially under the magical brain of Tarantino. An amzing master piece. TBH i wacth this movie at least once a year.
This is Quentin Tarantino's most under appreciated film along with Jackie Brown. I fucking love this movie and it should never be considered his worst film, I believe that is easily Death Proof

That snow was falling kind of inconsistently so you know QT made them do it over and over till he got something with the right amount of snow fall. The Major is out there freezing his 🥜 off (Foreshadowing).

Ummm, by what standard are you using to judge his work? Certainly not with the trash that calls itself cinema these days. Could his dialogue be a little less cheesy? Sure, but over all he is at the top of his field there aren't many directors who garuntee a solid film EVERY time like Tarantino does.

If you shared a steak about 8 months ago you don't say that you once did it which would imply at least a few or more years ago. If it was 8 months ago then you talk about it as it occurring within a still recent time period that happened recently. That like when someone says I'll talk to you on Friday when Friday is tomorrow so you don't say Friday like its a few days away you say I'll talk to you tomorrow. People who don't realize this have weird psychological problems.
This is another film that gets better with age. A future western classic that reveals its many layers with repeated viewing.
Pretty hard work for the actors...must be tiring especially in these kind of weather conditions. Respect
