Your who I thought of with your baits yall use and send links for that aren't even available and are 200 dollars for a small glide or swimbait smh and when I'm like lemonade w e looks good ima spend the money it's out of stock or not even available 😅😂😊
For all of the people who can’t afford or are just starting to throw big baits, Savage Gear has some excellent baits for unreal prices. That said, not all of their baits are fantastic. I typically stick to their plastic line through baits and their plastic RTF ( ready to fish ) baits. Always in stock at Tackle Warehouse. Stock hooks are strong and sticky sharp!
This video was spot on thank you for bringing this situation to light. I still don’t get why people hate on the bait makers or the guys that distribute the baits. You have to be quick nowadays if you want a much anticipated drop, that’s just the way it is 🤷🏻♂️ I blame grif for this entire situation 😂 🤣😂🤣 !!!
Some of us are still traumatized by Fred from SoCal who lied to us for a full year that he was making the swimbait, then blocked and ghosted us with our money.
Part of the problem is bait flippers. I love swimbait fishing but not loving the resellers. I have been lucky enough to get a couple of baits from makers I like. Great video Geoffrey.
Nailed it! I’m doing a show next weekend and it took me a month to make 35 ducklings! We typically have to tune every bait by hand. Most makers love making baits but it really is a job of passion!
I was listing to a podcast the other day where say disused swimbaits. One dude was saying few famous bait makers holding the supply short means say have enough in stock but they saying the baits are sold out just to keep the hype going. I believe him.
Thanks Geoff - I’m new to throwing big glides here in Texas, but love all the footage and info you provide. I have purchased a small variety of price ranges to try from the $40 Trick shad to the most expensive being the Greenleaf Imposter at $250. I get the cost for small batch custom baits and do want to support small American businesses. But definitely see the “out of stock” sign a lot. Thinking o might want to attend one of the gatherings or shows I’ve seen you go to.
I would love to see the data on how many swimbaits are just hanging on walls for collectors vs. Actually fishing the swimbaits. My guess would be close 50/50.
I understand the money but the drop thing is a major issue. If a person works a 9 to 5, they don't have time to sit on a computer a hope to get a swimbait when it drops. Then you have to deal with the person that resales them for 3 times the original price.
Most bait makers (Glides, swims, cranks, soft plastic, etc) start out as a hobby. It gets addictive fast. Then you give and sell some to friends. You show your work online and people say, "that's great how much". They use bait and show pics of the monsters they are catching on it. More people want to buy your stuff. You work 9-5 at your "real" job, and come home to make baits till midnight. You start falling behind on orders. Pretty tough decision whether to quit your 100K day job and make baits full time. And of course, then it's a job then and not fun any more.
Good video and makes a lot of sense why I can't never get my hands on certain ones not mad just how the game is 😂. People needed this video thanks OG swimbait guy
Props to Kyle at throwback. Has a whole team to have baits constantly available and at a great price. IMO one of the best makers and business dudes to do it🔥👏
UThis video was spot on as a newby bait maker its amazing how fast they turn these lures out amd are tested and tuned aswell. It takes so much work people do not understand. @geoffreythekingfishing
Patience is a virtue many do not possess. I feel blessed to have this superpower. If it's in stock ill snag one. I won't stop breathing if they aren't.
Part of the insanness is when youtubers say a niche bait is the " best ever" bait. Why wouldn't someone consider a knock off when the " best ever" bait is harder to get than Taylor Swift tickets.
Once u catch a bass on a BIG BAIT, u would know the addiction....i have glide baits from $20-$200......don't need a $200 bait to catch fish, but i enjoy being a lure junkie...For those that just want to go out, toss a big bait & not break the bank...3 baits...1) River2Sea S Waver 168 2) Bass Pro Shops The Swerve 3) G Ratt 8"....want a soft swimbait? 6" or 8" Megabass Magdraft...8" Savage Gear Trout, or 6-8" Huddleston... nothing outrageously expensive & will catch bass..100%

I throw a ton of normal glides and do all my fishing from my Kayak or from the bank .. a lot of my fishing areas are shallow with max depth of about 7-10 feet but from the bank im looking at max probably 4… if you were using the klash 9 would you use the hi -float model with no lip inserted for this type of area ?
I really have noticed that tech in abs glides has come so far that now some of the abs glides work almost as well as resin, I have several resin glides but the new glides like the abs trick Shad and the Baitsanity Chimera shad even the Spro version of the Chad shad run really good but the trick Shad and the chimera shad run awesome! And the Gan Craft stuff has always been great
I'm a custom crappie bait and lure maker in plastic and hand tied I've never seen or heard of anything like what I design and make and years of testing I stopped making anything for customers anymore a few years ago because of the complaints about prices and availability . I just make them for myself now. I even had a plan if the customer would send back baits that had caught many many fish and were rough or torn I would remelt and form the baits at no cost other than shipping my handtied jigs lasted about 200 to 225 crappie before it started to get wear on them and customers could send them in and I would replace for free.
So true it took me 30tries to make my bait right. Then another 10 to get situated more production style. Then weighting better and getting weights in molds. Then water temp changes screw it all up again from floating at lake to fast sink in pool. I make my hinges adjustable so it’ll turn chop or glide in seconds. Anyways great video you’re entertaining to watch.
You have to give it up to Kyle tho. While other makers choose to keep it a 1 man project, keeping supply low and hype and demand high. Kyle offers affordable baits while pumping out a ton of baits and having a whole team and shop to back him up.
I make a little glide that I love to fish, and made a few for friends but the time it takes to pour, paint and tune is just not worth it. My last batch just didnt come out perfect and I got discouraged. I still have 2 good ones thats all that matters haha
People buy crankbait blanks all the time because their hobby is painting lures for their use or sale. A swimbait blank is really no different, just bigger. It would make sense to practice your painting skill on blanks rather than a $300 canvas. I have my share of original baits, but I’ve also played with painting blanks. I’ve talked to many young anglers that there is no way their parents are funding a swimbait collection, But they might fund a blank and a rattle can
It’s not easy! But very fun and rewarding when you make a good one. Also realize that your bait probably won’t be as durable as someone who does it for money.

Two questions on this... are margins not good enough to hire a helper or two and increase productivity? Do lure makers who no longer have the time to keep up with production, marketing and selling ever sell their business? I'm not one of these people to get upset about missing out on a drop (I've never bought a lure that way) but I would think if the margins were good more lure makers would expand production
Last I recall this is America. We all should remember that people are free here no matter how they chose to fish just as long as people don't it within the law.

My Magdrafts catch more then my battle shads. Chad shads catch more than my hinkles. In fact I have an S waver 200 that has caught more big bass last year then all others. To each his own but in a lot of cases the mass produced less expensive baits catch just as many fish if not more. 450.00 for a Roman made mother is insane. That bait is not worth that kinda money.
I’ve had great luck with the WCZ baits. I’m just wondering if it’s possible you have more confidence throwing the cheaper baits closer to cover, fishing them deeper, etc. Sometimes I get nervous throwing around more expensive glides lol I lost a phoneyshad last year; thought I was gonna be sick lol
Because bait makers like it this way. So they can charge unreal $ on a poured plastic lure. All about the $. They been like this since they came out. Its a $ pit. Lets be real.

Why do you use BIG SWIM BAIT?? I teach him thease 3 words,DREAM,ROMANCE,EXCITEMENT😂😂😂 Don't buy chinese fake.Everyone should fell CRAFTMAN's PASSIONS😊 Thank you 🎉🎉🎉
It's a status symbol and the bait companies don't give a rip about the consumer. If their bait was so good, then they'd make them more readily available.
I think you’re completely ignoring what he literally talked about in this video. Bait makers obviously make and sell their products for business. If they don’t make profit off of it that’s no longer a business and I think people forget about that and immediately get emotional over the price because either you can’t afford it or not used to spending that kind of money on a bait. The time and the investment they spent to develop the prototype before making it a production model, then cost to make the molds, cost of materials, cost to ship, cost for workers if they have to hire people because they are not mass produced in China they are either made in Japan or USA it cost lot more money to make, shipping and etc….. there are many factors that make the price of products.
Wait till the worm prices start rising buddy.
Wait, no one's price gouging the sakumata shad yet?

I teach him thease 3 words,DREAM,ROMANCE,EXCITEMENT😂😂😂
Don't buy chinese fake.Everyone should fell CRAFTMAN's PASSIONS😊
Thank you 🎉🎉🎉
Trump gotta make baits cheap again
Thank God for eBay and clones 😂
It's a status symbol and the bait companies don't give a rip about the consumer. If their bait was so good, then they'd make them more readily available.
Easy there tiger 😂
Did you listen to a single thing he said?
Or they’re small companies and don’t have the manpower to produce that many baits…. Smh 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Watch the video dude. He just explained why your comment is pointless and disrespectful to the craft.
I have enough problems in life to worry about missing out on limited swimbait drops. Grow up dudes
