As a non-spoiler from the 1st episode, a very stereotypical but very popular world setting in Manwha is the, real world gets connected to an alternate dimension via random portals. As such people across the world develop and gain random powers as a result, and are called "Hunters" by the new society that develops afterwards. Its kinda memed upon a bit, in the Manwha community because every single Manwha that follows this setting always names the people who develop superhuman abilities "Hunters", and do very little to break the mold in that department.

Anime only watcher here and right now the set up is very generic to me. It is definetly done well but not a single thing has subverted my expectations so far. It may be because of how everyone went crazy for the manwa and that led to me being too hyped about this. Not necessarily writing it off, it probably will get pretty good later. Besides the amazing animation and art direction nothing has made me eager to watch this. Feels very Generic edgy fantasy fulfillment type show (Bland character design not helping with that)
Things get explained later, but since it’s only 12 episodes I feel like this might get the chainsaw man treatment where it ends before the story actually picks up
It started out like this in the manwha too it took a few chapters before things really took off. Solo leveling is mostly about the action and we are currently in world building phase of the story. In the next few episodes the character will become a little less bland and as the story goes on he will grow to be nearly unrecognizable to his current self. Also alot of the popularity of solo leveling comes from its art as manwha is almost always in full color so you need really good art to stand out.
its a basic problem of manga/anime watchers, korean storys are a bit different. you cant look at solo leveling like on a anime standart storys. its a way better, but you would know if you read it all :D so hard to say something w/o spoilers.
@@jurcik87 yeah it's something I have noticed with all the manwha adaptations. They all feel different from what I am used to and it may be because of the manwha up till now has gotten less than spectacular adaptations. Still excited to get on the ride but it is given me chainsaw man vibes in terms of hype and it being a setup season and won't get crazy good till later.
I'm honestly happy that it doesn't have those things that are pretty generic in anime anyway, such as having those perverted camera shots at every moment (i get that it had one last episode for that blonde S Class hunter girl, but i don't remember any other scene like that from the manhwa), and the fact that this anime actually has a freaking MC that isn't in high school or those silly chibi faces.
I mean we’ll see My biggest problem with these starting episodes is that it doesn’t seems to have its own identity visually or otherwise. Like God of Highschool was another generic action show based on a Korean manhwa, but it made up for how basic and dumb it was by having an incredible presence and visual style. Not just good animation as in “this animation is so good there are so many key frames”, it was more than that. The project had so much distinct style and visual energy that gave you a reason to keep coming back other than “fighting cool” and I’m cool with the story being generic and silly, but unlike GOH, this adaptation doesn’t have that spark that I was talking about We’re not gonna get hype over Korean kirito fighting statues in the dark, so if that’s what people want then they won’t like our reactions unless something fucking insane happens, but I doubt that. But we’re willing to watch. We’re just gonna enjoy it how we want.
For the people that are mad they aren't liking it or calling "SAO copy" or something yall just let them watch people who haven't seen this its ep 2 let the show cook even though the MC isn't like kirito at all only thing the same is the hair but if they do drop it then i guess thats it yall relax on them and let them watch and a show can be entertaining without being AOT level plot hope everyone enjoys.
Alot of the issues they are getting from people are caused by comparing it to other titles. I get the similarities are there but when you constantly compare shows to each other you are just insuring that you will annoy a-lot of people. Thats why it is very important as a reactor to treat every show as it’s own thing. Also I get that they have questions and they want answers but when you are only two episodes in you need to let things unfold.
@@killorbekilled4950 see that's what I'm saying nothing wrong with them thinking that but y'all are literally 2 eps in and everyone else gotta stop so mad at them and just let them watch and enjoy it before they drop it like Tokyo revengers 😂though I hope it don't get that bad
@@BOLDcastThere lies a problem 😅what’s going on with the portals, hunters awakening will only be explained close to the end of this manwha. For me personally I really enjoy solo levelling for what it is. A simple action driven power fantasy and the fights with Jinwoo, for me personally were incredibly! satisfying. I think you also have to be fairly attached to the MC as well. I think in other people’s reactions you can see which reactors have attached themselves to Jinwoo and want him to become bass as after seeing his beat down as well as learning about his other near death experiences. If you aren’t that interested in Jinwoo or rooting for him then this might not be the story for you? Not that’s wrong or anything however it’s very heavily focused on it’s main character unlike say My Hero Academia, which focuses far more on its side characters. Nothing wrong with both, depends on what you prefer. I usually prefer stories with a lot of focus on side characters however I got pretty attached to Jinwoo so Solo Leveling was unusual for me as I didn’t mind it being mainly focused on him.
There is pretty good logic behind the system which will be revealed much later. Spoiler : It’s basically created to find a suitable host for Ashborn the shadow monarch. Its intentionally made to look like a game to appeal to humans.

Aight, I'm off to watch it. Brb. Ok, not bad. Some difficulties representing the size of things as expected, and minor details changed or omitted. I found it odd the religious guy was switched to a researcher, "he's worshipping the wrong god!" hit harder when he was worshipping his own god. It was understandable there wasn't enough time to deal with Joohee's breakdown not counting as worship. Would have loved to see him imagine a Statue of Liberty-sized god statue stomping on Seoul. Jinwoo sure as shit didn't instantaneously accept becoming a player, they could have ended the episode before he accepted to emphasise how big a decision he had to make. They fit what they had to into the episode, I think they did a reasonable job, but the manhwa is the way to go for this if you want the visuals, and the web novel for the details. Btw I only really remember fine detail of the start because I've just started reading the web novel.
neat episode so far, but it kinda annoys me how everyone except the protagonist is fucking stupid. like, anyone should be able to figure out most of the stuff he figured out this episode.
That’s a fair assessment I’ve heard it before when someone read this part in the manwha. But to be fair the commandments were fairly vague, they are in a life threatening situation which makes it hard to think things through, and the mc is better at thinking things out in these situations because of the fact that he’s the weakest hunter. Everyday he has gone into a dungeon he has left with life threatening injuries so he is alot better at handling nearly dying than most of the people in his group.
He constantly at death's door, that's the reason why he always survived and why the shadow monarch has chosen him, leaving the Architect no choice. Also, in LN Sung Jin Woo realized it faster.
We’re chill lol Everyone is acting like we hate the show when we don’t. We’re just chilling watching a fun show and not taking it too seriously. It’s not shaping up to be Shakespeare and that’s fine, but then I’m not gonna treat it like a masterpiece either
Damn i really don't like how they animated this. The scenes were so much more suspenseful and scary in the Manwha. Also the pacing is like really bad wtf.
Here's a recommendation for Carson. It's a currently ongoing anime called 'Undead Unluck.' I'm on episode 10, and the story just keeps getting better. The fights are very well-written, similar to Jujutsu Kaisen, and it's not just some hype stuff. Carson will definitely like this one, but I can't say for sure! The overall plot and storyline are definitely right up your TH-cam channel's alley.
Since frieren has an excellent dub, i checked the Dub for this aswell as the Sub. And the dub isnt bad at all, especially if you want to see the fight scenes properly with the high speed shots. BUUUT that being said, EPIC anime.
The comments kinda already said it but for this show just think of it as a good action anime. Don't expect a crazy plot with different plot twist and all the good story telling aspects like some anime. Just go into this show thinking "we have mc, mc trains gets really strong and also looks badass throughout the entire time" Love this manhwa wish the story was a more than simple but soo far the anime is doing a fantastic job
That’s where we’re at But by the same token, if you’re not going to have a good story, and the animation so far isn’t living up to the expectations set for the art by the hardcore fans, then we’re not gonna be screaming and flying out of our chairs when the main character does something cool for the sake of being cool. Instead we’ll be here making fun of how dumb it is and enjoying the ride. So whether people are cool with that is kinda iffy. Cause I think people want hype reactions for something like this and in order to get that out of us you need do have a really good story fueling that action
@@BOLDcast As someone who read the ln and weebtoon multiple times and absolutely love every second of it, I have to admit that the anime is in a really tough spot... @@BOLDcast That's because you just don't know what to expect like many people reading the prologue in the LN or manhwa. This is NOW ON from ep3 that it starts literally. For someone who has read the Manwha, I honestly thought they were going to squish what they've shown for episode 1 and 2 so far into one big premiere, I can see why people would lose interest right now with how the pacing is.
@@rahul-ve6dd specifically this episode, taking 20 minutes to move from the outside of the room to the inside? That's pretty bad for an episode 2 come on, could have been done just as well in 5 minutes lmao
Fair enough but this isn’t a part of the story that you can rush through as it is extremely important down the line and it is quite literally the origin story of the mc. Everything that happened in these episodes gives you context to what happens down the line. Everyone is being “defensive “ because it has been two episodes a total of ~40 minutes which is barely the length of the first episode of shows coming out right now and people are already writing the show off. You actually have to be patient and let the story unfold before casting judgement. People are growing way too impatient and assuming way too many things way to fast because SOME THINGS CAN NOT BE RUSHED IF YOU WANT THEM TO BE FAITHFUL TO THE ORIGINAL! Otherwise if you rush them and don’t take the time to actually give some setup to the world and characters in the story you end up with another Tokyo Ghoul or Arifureta. Where the story becomes a rushed mess leaving viewers with absolutely no clue what is going on and with no sense of what the world is like or who the characters in the story are.
@@killorbekilled4950 yeah I get all that, this isn't the first show I've ever watched, unfortunately none of that changes the fact that this episode in particular felt like a whole lot of nothing. For an episode 2 of a massively hyped anime, it already slowed down to crippling pacing and that's something worth commenting on in a comment section, I'm still gonna give the show way longer before rating it as a whole but it's fair to say this episode wasn't that great, not writing the whole thing off by admitting that. MC didn't really develop tbh, he just showed he's a classic MC that seems to know everything whilst the much more experienced members of the group have the combined intellect of a fucking sponge when it matters, didn't need an entire episode in my opinion. Still gonna watch the rest and hope it gets better, just feels a little overhyped atm, especially by anime only people that are saying it's the best show of the season/year with what we've got so far, like come on now
@@henshj9874 slowed down? It’s still accelerating what you describe as a whole lot of nothing are things that matter later down the line. The mc isn’t even really being painted as smarter than everyone else he is being shown to be more experienced with life threatening situations. He’s the weakest hunter and with that he has never been to the point of being comfortable in a dungeon like everyone else because he’s only ever experienced near death situations in dungeons. This has led to him being more experienced with thinking on the spot during situations where he’s fearing for his life which is alot harder than most people realize. I will also point out that yes there are people who have been to higher rank dungeons than he has but alot of them still do not have as much experience with constantly being near death as the mc as he even struggles to stay alive in dungeons on his level which isn’t normal. P.s. sorry if I seem a little aggressive here it’s just aggravating you know 😂😅

So I prefer it not to be a video game, but the way the abilities work (aside from no leveling up), and the way monsters and gates work, is more like the way a video game would do it, which is something that feels kinda cheap to me as someone who generally doesn’t like isekai or isekai aesthetic.
@@BOLDcast Oh i see, i could clarify some things but i will just let the series do so instead, i hope you guys enjoy it as much as we manwha readers did

A lot of things get explained later which can be an issue for some people that want to know everything right away I guess. But if you keep watching, everything will make sense in the end. Even the "game" aspect and what happened to the MC at the end of this episode. What we saw this far is basically just the prologue. The actual anime starts in episode 3.
That would have been the PERFECT ending point to a double length 1st episode! While I'm sure to enjoy this anime, I have the feeling that I'm going to be left wanting after only 12 episodes.

It's not out of the question that they've kept a second cour secret for some reason for so long, but as of right now we're only looking at 12 episodes.
I wonder how you guys will react to Omniscient reader's viewpoint anime if you really hate this game asthetic lol. Bcoz unlike solo leveling, omniscient reader's viewpoint is considered one of the best written manhwa/novel. Pretty much everyone agrees that solo leveling is very simple, they are not really that angry at you bcoz story is not the strong point of solo leveling but what about when a well written show comes? And it takes place in a game type setting? Really interested to see what will happen then.

Y'all would absolutely love Pluto and Summer Time Render
if they already drop the 86 surely they also have to drop this anime
give them 2 episodes max they will drop it too 😂
I mean we’ll see
My biggest problem with these starting episodes is that it doesn’t seems to have its own identity visually or otherwise.
Like God of Highschool was another generic action show based on a Korean manhwa, but it made up for how basic and dumb it was by having an incredible presence and visual style. Not just good animation as in “this animation is so good there are so many key frames”, it was more than that. The project had so much distinct style and visual energy that gave you a reason to keep coming back other than “fighting cool”
and I’m cool with the story being generic and silly, but unlike GOH, this adaptation doesn’t have that spark that I was talking about
We’re not gonna get hype over Korean kirito fighting statues in the dark, so if that’s what people want then they won’t like our reactions unless something fucking insane happens, but I doubt that.
But we’re willing to watch. We’re just gonna enjoy it how we want.
this episode is much better than 1, i am liking it now
For the people that are mad they aren't liking it or calling "SAO copy" or something yall just let them watch people who haven't seen this its ep 2 let the show cook even though the MC isn't like kirito at all only thing the same is the hair but if they do drop it then i guess thats it yall relax on them and let them watch and a show can be entertaining without being AOT level plot hope everyone enjoys.

Can you guys please react to persona 3 reload opening it's pretty good if not the best persona opening yet
There is pretty good logic behind the system which will be revealed much later. Spoiler : It’s basically created to find a suitable host for Ashborn the shadow monarch. Its intentionally made to look like a game to appeal to humans.

Its more of the god is managing the dungeon/ world in a video game style 😂
@@Shahzaibs_music edited to clarify that they could have chosen to end the episode before he accepted.

ARISE Sung drip woo 🔥🔥🔥
neat episode so far, but it kinda annoys me how everyone except the protagonist is fucking stupid. like, anyone should be able to figure out most of the stuff he figured out this episode.
So solo leveling is delivering if I do say so myself 😂
Npc😂 where that thought came from😂
Always your decision but episode 3 should begin the slightly less conventional world building if you chose to continue.
We’ll be the judge of that

Get used to the videogamy, just like how you get used to Isekai, there's thousands of novels and manhwas with hunter and gate worlds.

That’s where we’re at
But by the same token, if you’re not going to have a good story, and the animation so far isn’t living up to the expectations set for the art by the hardcore fans, then we’re not gonna be screaming and flying out of our chairs when the main character does something cool for the sake of being cool.
What mainly carried the webtoon was the art and how the fights were written (imo Solo Leveling is a power fantasy done as right as it can) but if the anime cant live to the expectations, then thing are not going to look good for the adaptation...
@@BOLDcast That's because you just don't know what to expect like many people reading the prologue in the LN or manhwa. This is NOW ON from ep3 that it starts literally. This is an MC centered story and like any manhwa in the power leveling genre, the moments before MC gets its badass power its like a world building / prologue.

Some people are getting a bit defensive in these comments, the show has been mid so far AT BEST. Boldcast have been more than generous with it imo 😂 it's generic, has average animation and snail pacing already in episode 2? Took them 20 minutes to bow and then enter a circle, boring af
